I am Installing Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 on my late 2012 Mac Mini. I have the S/W on my desktop as an .iso format, and my test to check if Boot Camp would find it worked. Now I will be getting an USB drive (my 4GB wasn't big enough so will use it for the drivers), so before going on this process trying to cover all bases. I'm assuming an 8GB thumb drive should be enough. I'm also assuming the 4GB drive formatted in FAT should be ok since Windows 7 has to read it, does the drive for the disk image have to be MAC Ext'd or FAT?
Any help on this is appreciated, I'm pretty new to all this stuff and hate running into problems during this process will be hairy! Any other pointers is greatly appreciated.

Got Win 7 64bit installed with a few problems.
From the start I'm unable to use my wireless magic mouse. It shows up under Bluetooth devices, but can't get it to sync up.
After getting the wireless keyboard synced & working had a number of updates to install. After that the keyboard is not functioning and can't be synced.
Any suggestions, not of the questions I put into this section came back with a solution, might be the question I ask? Can someone link a post in the discussion forum to solve this.

I'm not very computer savvy, so if you want to help me out, all I ask is that you dumb things down for me I'm trying to install bootcamp on my computer. My ultimate goal is to install Mathcad. I'm stuck on the Windows ISO image step. I don't know what the ISO image is or where it is... This is what it all looks like. Please help!

If you have a networked printer, they sometimes have SD Card slots, USB thumbdrive slots, etc... and the printer offers to be a file server to share the contents of those removable camera storage devices.
It is possible your home WiFi router can also act as a printer server, or with a USB disk (or thumb drive) attached, a file server.
You could use a utility such as Bonjour Browser which will give you more information about the devices it sees on your home network

If your on 10.6.8 like you should be for security/stability updates, somewhere along the line a later Bootcamp version was issued and only supports Win 7.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
When Boot Camp Assistant formats the USB drive, it uses FAT32 (Disk Utility identifies it as "MS-DOS (FAT)") and then, it copies the files. What happens when you try to copy the Windows support software or a Windows ISO onto it? Also, note that if the problem happens when you try to copy the Windows support software, you can download it manually from the Apple website and copy them manually > http://support.apple.com/downloads

My intention is to install Windows 7 on my Mac
(I've several Windows OS .iso images)
in the "BOOTCAMP" called partition, created by Boot Camp 3.0 application, on my internal drive.
This is a 32 GB partition, being FAT32 formatted,
but any version of Windows 7 (when installing)
will surely want to be on an NTFS volume and reformat it.
I've already burned 3 ISOs, with Toast Titanium 10.0.7 (speed : 2x, less not possible), on 3 DVDs :
— 1 DVD -RW with W7 Enterprise x64 (with folders and strict ISO 9660 names) ;
— 1 DVD -RW with W7 Enterprise x86 (32-bit) with one unique ISO, alone ;
— 1 DVD -R with W7 Ultimate x86 (32-bit) with one unique ISO, alone.
*Boot Camp doesn't recognize these discs as Windows installation DVDs*,
and so does nothing but wait.
I'm sure that something is missing on the disks to be recognized
as bootable Windows installation discs,
but I absolutely don't know what (setup.exe, for example, or another .exe file ?).
Do I have to do something with the burning options
(strict ISO 9660 naming, Mac names authorized, Hybrid Mac and PC,
Joliet names or not, folders or not, etc.)
Do I have to do something with the ISO image (any ISO I have), and how, and what ?
I've also activators and many other things (.exe files),
but I think they have to be used AFTER installation.

I'll go there immediately. It's obvious for me that only one .iso file, alone on a DVD, can't be sufficient, comparing with +(but I don't know what)+ is on a Microsoft Windows Install DVD.

PS : I didn't have any time to reply to anyone, when I asked "How can I move something (copying it) without leaving original in it's place ?". Someone had the answer : "Drag and hold down cmd while releasing mouse". OK, it works, but you have to have good nerves, because folders open when doing that (I changed delay in Finder Preferences to the slowest), and there's also another inconvenient : I don't trust in copy (I want a one by one byte result), so I have to write what Get Info says BEFORE, and compare it after that with what Get Info says. In this case, I prefer to return to my old habits.
PPS : I observed, and I will tell it somewhere when possible, that *Get Info gives false informations*.
For example, I copied a folder with 58 items inside. Get Info didn't give me the same number of bytes for the copy as for the original. So, I did Get Info for *EACH of the 58 items*, wrote the results (in bytes) on a paper, and after adding *all the bytes of the copy*, found THE SAME NUMBER *as the total size of the original.* That's how I waste my time !

I have movie files off a Sony Handcam and it is produced as a mpg. Quick time can play them, imovie won't edit them.
Does FCE 4.0 edit .mpg files? If not, any other suggestions?

that's quite normal:
mpeg is a delivery codec. for editing in iM, audio and video have to be individual streams within the file.. mpeg is well-known for 'muxing' the streams.. so, for usage in iM, they have to be de-muxed.
a) use the intended workflow - if your cam is a still-cam with the ability for moving images, import via iPhoto, use the MediaBrowser to get access in iM - this workflow cares for converting
b) .. or, your device is supported by iM (list here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3290?viewlocale=en_US ) = import via 'Import from camcorder' and don't care for codecs ..
c) .. or use designated converter tools as Mpeg Streamclip, to convert into a iM/FCE compatible format...

Installing windows 7 64-bit to a second internal drive using BootCamp

I have a Mac mini server (late 2012) with OS X 10.8.5 installed. This unit has 2 1 terabyte drives installed. OS X is installed on drive 1. I can see drive 0 in BootCamp. However, when the system reboots, after repartitioning drive 0 to make it an all NTFS drive, the windows installer refuses to install to this drive. Are there any workarounds to installing Windows to drive 0 using BootCamp?

Yes, like others with mulitple drives and using GPT/GUID, the other drives cannot be present (internal and external both).
Disconnect the other drive or format it as Windows partition table in Disk Utility : Partitions : Advanced Options.
Even USB flash drives can interfere as well as external hard drives - anything Windows can see.
Has to do with Windows rules for EFI based systems and GPT.

Why does my converted raw to jpeg image have an arrow pointing to it?

When I have taken a raw image through the camera raw edit and then to full edit in elements 10 and then post the converted image onto my desk top to then move elsewhere why does it show up with an arrow pointing to the image and why am I unable to use it unless I send it to iphoto first? Presumably you have a desktop folder or desktop pictures folder. Go directly to the folder containing the jpeg.
You can set-up Elements as your external editor in iPhoto settings.

I am about to run specialized GIS software that may or may not need the full machine resources. I am an attorney who uses QuickBooks for my accounting. The Mac version does not do as much as the Windows version. This is from both Apple and Quick Books professionals. I am using Parallels Desktop version 8 at this time. It does not support QuickBooks Windows version per Parallels. Any other questions? I am a highly competent PC user who is new to Macs. I am entitled to my own configuration choices. That said, I know when I need help which is now.
As to the free space issue I have 665.18 GB free space out of 749.3 GB on the drive. I am not trying to run the 32 bit version. I know that it requires the 64 bit version. Besides, it does not get that far in the process. As I said Boot Camp asssitant terminates unexpectedly as soon as you hit the continue button after setting the partition size. Therefore I conclude that it does not have a chance to see which version of Windows that I am using. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version in the virtual engine (to use Parallels speak), but again Boot Camp would not see that since it is not running. It can't run at the momenet because Apple just installed a new hard drive and I have just restored the data from TIme Machine and Parallels needs reactivated, which I have not done yet deliberatley. XP address 1.9GB which won't work iwth 1GB video cards
Windows 7 64-bit hands down. But if your game or you want and have dual processor, then Pro.
System Builder. No need for retail and costs 1/2.
Windows 8 Preview. Free and runs great but dont expect everything to work, especially any Apple software.
Windows 7 needs 50GB. Paltry amount for today.
Putting Windows on same drive? don't advise doing so. Besides clutter it would go to the inner slow tracks of drive platter.

If your Mac is off then start up. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the Option key until the Mac and Windows Disks show up. Then click on the Mac disk and the arrow below it. After it boots up in Mac then go to System Preferences>Startup Disk and select your Mac partition as the Startup disk.
If you are in Windows then look for the Boot Camp icon on the taskbar. It will look like a gray box sitting on one corner. One of the options when you click it is to restart in Mac OS. After it boots up in Mac then go to System Preferences>Startup Disk and select your Mac partition as the Startup disk.
