What happened to the Fill Light function in the Develop Module?

That was one of my most used functions in Develop. Why would you remove that function in the LR4 beta? Seems an odd choice.

The set-up of the tonality controls has been changed completely, and you need to relearn everything at this point. This is the price to pay for better image corrections.
Always set the Exposure / Contrast sliders first and, if necessary, touch-up the lighter and darker tones with the Highlights and/or Shadows sliders.
If you need to go further or to fine tune the extreme values, then go to the Whites & Blacks sliders.
Rgds, Gilles.

  • What happened to the Developer Exchange?

    It look like a backup from the 17th of Feb was restored.
    Is all of our work lost?
    How often is the Exchange DB backed-up?
    Ben

    Hi Ben,
    I posted a full explanation to this question in the LabVIEW General Insights .
    As to your question about lost work, for many posts that were created after the 17th, we lost the association with the user name. A question, like this one for example, was replicated back from our NNTP newsgroups (comp.lang.labview) and we lost both the user name the post ID. So, we won't be able to record this in your stats, and you won't receive an email notification of my response.
    We back up the Developer Exchange nightly. We decide to revert
    to a backup from the 17th because our research indicated that this would be the safest back-up to restore.
    We're now working on ways to mitigate the risk of the error occurring again.
    I do apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this has caused.

  • What happens when the light goes off on an express airport router?

    I was on the internet using a wireless connection with an express airport and suddenly I heard a sound and the light on the router went competelly off.  I would like to know what happened.  I unplugged the airport and plugged in again on another outlet but nothing happens.  The airport has about 3 or 3.5 years.

    It's not possible to know exactly what happened within the AirPort Express unless you carefully saw the case open along the seams to examine the internal components.
    It's likely that something in the power supply section has failed since the device will not power up. Repairs...if possible.....would likely cost more than the cost of a replacment Express, but if you are handy with small electronics repairs, you could poke around a bit to take a look for something obvious.

  • Pipeline functions - what happens under the hood?  (10g)

    Hi all,
    What happens when you call a pipelined function? (As opposed to a plain table-valued function.)
    From what I understand, a pipelined function will return rows as they are needed. Let's say I have a really silly example of a pipelined function,
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY TEST_PACKAGE_1
    AS
        FUNCTION GET_DATA RETURN JUST_A_TABLE PIPELINED
        IS
        BEGIN
            PIPE ROW (JUST_A_TYPE('HELLO'));
            PIPE ROW (JUST_A_TYPE('WORLD'));
            RETURN;
        END;
    END TEST_PACKAGE_1;
    /Then let's say I were to SELECT * FROM TABLE(TEST_PACKAGE_1.GET_DATA) WHERE ROWNUM = 1, what happens to the second row? Does the code that returns the second row still get educated? (Obviously it's omitted from the query, but does it still get generated somewhere and just go nowhere?)
    If I have a cursor on a PL/SQL block that selects from GET_DATA, will each row only be returned as the cursor references it? In that case, what happens to the rows that don't get selected? If there some resource that need to be closed out (say, just before the return statement), would it still be safe to close it out?
    Thanks!
    Don

    Interesting question, lets try a simple test and see we'll just take your example function and toss in a few dbms_output statements like so:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY TEST_PACKAGE_1
    AS
        FUNCTION GET_DATA RETURN JUST_A_TABLE PIPELINED
        IS
        BEGIN
            dbms_output.put_line('ONE');
            PIPE ROW (JUST_A_TYPE('HELLO'));
            dbms_output.put_line('TWO');
            PIPE ROW (JUST_A_TYPE('WORLD'));
            dbms_output.put_line('THREE');
            RETURN;
        END;
    END TEST_PACKAGE_1;Now not forgetting to enable dbms_output call it three times like so:
    SELECT * FROM TABLE(TEST_PACKAGE_1.GET_DATA) WHERE ROWNUM = 1;
    SELECT * FROM TABLE(TEST_PACKAGE_1.GET_DATA) WHERE ROWNUM <= 2;
    SELECT * FROM TABLE(TEST_PACKAGE_1.GET_DATA) WHERE ROWNUM <= 3;What I saw from my test was that with the first call I got 1 row of data from the pipelined function and only the first dbms_output statement was processed. For the second statement I got 2 rows of data from the function and the first two dbms_output statements were processed. For the final call I again got 2 rows of data from the function and all 3 dbms_output statements were processed.

  • Hello, I have a Macbook Pro 17'' 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 (2011). I dont know what happened but the pixels on black or dark areas on my monitor are displayed in a flickering red color, and on white areas are light blue. Any idea??

    Hello,
    I have a Macbook Pro 17'', 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 (late 2011). I dont know what happened but the screen shows red flickering pixels everywhere where it should be black, and light blue pixels where it should be gray, I had this problem twice, the first time it just disappeared by itself. Now it's been like this for days, I have really no clue.
    Anyone with the same problem or solution?
    This is how it looks like:
    Thanx

    Is that a camera picture or a screen-shot? Is there any difference? i.e., can you capture the problems in a screen shot, or not?

  • What happened to the search function on ipads?

    what happened to the search function on ipads?

    Ok, I agree it USED TO WORK that way, swiping down from the center. Now swiping down from the center with the newest CRAP iOS 7.0.4, all that happens is the notifications tab pulls down.
    I can see all the options for Spotlight Search in the General Setup, and have all of the search options enabled, but the old way (2 weeks ago) of getting the search pane DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE.
    Anyone have a clue where it went, or how to get it back, or enable it, or anything?  SIRI is clueless too. I say "Open Spotlight Search". She says "You don't seem to have an app named Spotlight Search"
    I can tell SIRI to open one of my 150+ apps WHEN ONLINE, but if I'm flying or out of wi-fi, and want to search my iPad, I need the spotlight search pane!!!

  • Just upgraded to 5 from 3 - what happened to the page select icon? Can't find it in customize toolbars.

    Used to be you could select which page you wished to go back or forward to from the arrow icons on the navigation toolbar. The history menu item only shows 10 sites without having to open history for today. What happened? Is there another icon or a new plug in for this functionality? I used it all the time.

    ''what happened to the page select icon (Back/Forward)''
    The back/forward buttons have been moved to right-hand side of the navigation bar and the drop-down was removed. User right-click or hold click for one second to see the tab history. This is item #5 in my list.
    The History menu also has "Open Previous session" and "Open closed windows",
    to see more history use the History sidebar ("Ctrl+H") or the History Library List ("Ctrl+Shift+H") and sort or view by "Last visited".

  • What happens to the while loop iteration counter if it runs unchecked?

    I want to use the iteration counter to initialise a value on the first loop of a while statement. ie i = 0, x = 100. Fine. The application I am building will be left to run for weeks or months on end without stopping (hopefully :¬)). What happens to the iteration counter in this situation? Does it reset to 0 or what? I don't want it reinitialising any values while the loop is running other than when it starts.
    I set up a while loop to try to figure out what happens and the iteration counter stops at 2147483648 which is 2^31 - 1.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Niel.

    It might be something you already looked at, but perhaps it's an option to perform the initialization outside (before) the while loop. That way it will be initialized correctly only once, no matter what the iteration counter does.
    Of course if you need the counter for other purposes than initialization you might have the same problem...
    Note that a lot of the timer functions also overflow after a certain time (I believe 24 or 48 days?) so be careful running very long loops (but you already knew that probably).

  • What happened to the sidebar view in iTunes 12.0?

    What happened to the sidebar view in iTunes 12.0?

    "Switch to Songs view.  Everything will be much clearer"
    I have no use for Songs view.  I always use Albums view (personal preference  - I think of my library as a collection of albums, not of songs), but never had any problem at all with the use of the top-left icons in iTunes 12.  Indeed, I much prefer the iTunes 12 version of the sidebar - ironically, for the reason that some seem to object to it: it doesn't clutter up a standardized listing of my library content with device-related information, and does not change if I connect an iDevice.  In general, the only interaction I need at the device level is the Eject function - all content syncing is controlled through playlists associated with each device I use (which, of course, are visible and can be modified whether a device is connected or not).  I only need to see the details of a device on the rare occasions I want to make a change to its behavior with respect to synchronization.

  • What happened to the multi-touch gestures in Finder?

    I've updated to Lion last week.  Overall, I think what Apple did was great to the overall experience.  However, my only gripes are in Finder.  What happened to the multi-touch gestures?  The only thing that I can do is flip through files in cover view using two finger swipes.
    What happened to the pinch to zoom in and out?  I've seen other posts about this so I'll stop here.  Apple please bring this function back.  I'm tired of moving my mouse to the drag handle.
    Secondly, I was using three finger swipes to navigate to the previous and next folder in Finder.   Since two finger is used to flip through cover view, I see why they couldn't extend the back/forward function to two finger swipes as they did in Safari and I know that three finger swipe is used to change desktops.  I wish that Apple was more creative to leave this function in somehow.
    Is there a way to bring these functions back to Finder?  These are the functions that I used all the time.

    That doesn't explain why they would remove the pinch to zoom in and out.  That is not be used by anything else in finder.  If I'm going through pictures, I would like to zoom in on the images for cover view.
    As far as the three figure swipes to go back and forth in finder, I understand why that has been removed.  However, Apple could have implemented the two finger swipe just like in Safari which is sensitive to the acceleration of the swipes.  If you swipe with two fingers somewhat fast, you can go back and forth between previous and next page.  If you swipe with two fingers slowly, you can pan left and right on the same page.
    They could have done something to retain the functionality versus taking out the functionality all together.  As of now, these functionalities do not exist.  I'm hoping that something is going to change and we'll have to see what the future brings.
