What happens if 3700 with WSSI module is connected to 802.3af PoE port?

I know that the 3700 itself will drop to 3x4 MIMO if it only gets 15.4W of power (takes 16.8 with 4x4).  If I add in a WSSI module, I know that is not enough power to run the WSSI module.  We'd like to deploy our APs with the module installed and light up WSSI only as we get 802.3at power available.  What I don't know is if the AP will light up as 3x4 with WSSI disabled, or if the AP will just completely fail.   I should get a chance to test this soon, but if you happen to know, please tell!
Thanks!
Gary Hahn

If you have enough power to the AP, you can look at the GUI and under the main screen under Access Point Summary, you will see Dual-Band Radios... the WSSI or WSM will show up there.

  • Cisco 1252s with regular 802.3af PoE switches - what are the impacts?

Does anyone have any real-life experience with deploying the 1252s on regular 802.3af PoE switches?  I have a few 1252s one some 3560 PoE ports and the show up with "low power" alarms.
I am wondering what the real world impact is with this scenario.  The 1252s have both 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz radios in them and I have HT enabled on the controller.
I'm wondering what capabilities I am losing by running on 802.3af power besides the annoyance of the alarms.
    Thanks in advance!

Sorry in advance for the book I have just written.
I have three 1252s on 75 feet of Cat5e cable running to a 3560 PoE switch. Sometimes, but not always, I see a low power alarm on the access point(s). This is in a small building that is built like a fortress so the RF environment is somewhat challenging. I am watching WCS closely and see all three 2.4 GHz radios powered all the way up to power level 1. I notice that two of the 5GHz radios are on power level 1, and one is on level 3. I thought that RRM would not power anything down until you had at least four access points as RF neighbors. I believe I read that in a Ciscopress book and it seems to be true everywhere in our network when I look at buildings with 3 or less WAPs.
The building in question does not have any other buildings close by with any 5GHz radios in operation - or at least I didn't see any when I did the survey.
I'm wondering if the power setting of the radios is also related to the length of the Cat5e cabling. Seems to me a shorter run would have less resistance than longer runs, allowing the radio to have more power.
My main concern is not this building in question, since we went for coverage and not client density in the design. We several other buildings on the radar, all libraries, which are going to be both RF challenging (bookshelves, furniture, cubicles, cubbies) and client-density challenged. These buildings have hundreds of WLAN clients in them at times - and I mean devices, not just people.
Someone else told me (reputable source) that channel bonding is not an option when on 802.3af power. Makes sense, actually. I would never even think of bonding in the 2.4 GHz range for obvious reasons, but up in the 5GHz range it is a definate possibility in these buildings. Seems to be that we might be shooting ourselves in the foot by not using 802.3at power in these buildings.
If channel bonding is disabled and the upper two MCS rates (using 800ns guard interval) of 117 and 130 are disabled, then I'm looking at maximum MCS rate of 104 Mbit/s compared to 270 Mbit/s with 802.3at with channels bonded in the 5GHz range.

  • HT2515 What happens if our video chat is not connecting with the other person?

What happens if our video chat is not connecting with the other person?

    Hi,
Not really enough info to help constructively.
    Which Version of iChat ?
Is it iChat to iChat or iChat to Messages  (i.e Mac to Mac) or AIM (iChat) to PC AIM  (needs to be a compatible version)
Is this AIM to AIM (Includes AIM valid Screen Names from certain Apple IDs) ?
Is it Jabber to Jabber (this can only be done Mac to Mac in Messages and/or iChat) ?
Do you get any failure  message ?
In the Video Menu > Connection Doctor > Errors tab do you get any info ?
    NOTES
As mentioned it is iChat to iChat or iChat to AIM on a PC if the PC has a compatible version (which is not the latest)  (where it lists iChat it also means Messages in Mountain Lion)
It has to be either AIM to AIM IDs or Jabber to Jabber IDs
It cannot be Jabber to some GoogleTalk Web Browser Login (or Facebook)
It cannot be Jabber/Google Talk to the PC app called GoogleTalk
Google released an PC only App that will use Jabber protocols for Video (Called Jingle)
Their web Browser Plug-in also uses Jingle for Video and Audio chat but iChat and Messages use SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) to connect.  The two are not compatible.
Facebook also run a  Jabber server and have apparently released their Own Plug-in  which can cause problems of it's own on a Mac.
However you also cannot video to a Web Browser Login on Mac or PC
If this is iChat 6 it does not Video on the Yahoo Accounts  (that is Text Only)
This means it cannot Video to any version of Yahoo on Mac or PC or any Web Browser method.

  • RE: WHS 2011 what happens to it with the release of windows 10?

    Hi
So i'm glade Microsoft has seen the light with windows 10 and brought back the start button, I haven't had time to watch the presentation only the highlights.
The question I have is what happens with Windows Home Server?
Windows 10 is supposedly going to be all thing to all people, but they said that about windows 8; i'm hoping the difference now is that they have learned from there mistakes; home server needs tweaks for sure, and if its part of the free update even better.
I think having a central data store for homes is a necessity especially where the internet isn't unlimited like it is in Africa

Home server 2011 will not change/upgrade to Server 10.  It should allow for Win10 client to connect/be backed up though.

  • 3000483 - What happens if we harden and unpatched client connects?

So if we send out the patch to servers and clients, then enable hardening on the clients in Group Policy, what happens if a system that hasn't been on the network in a while and had not received the patch yet from System Center connects and gets the updated
    group policy?
Will anything actually break, or will it essentially be ignored until the system is current?

    Hi,
How did you configure the Group Policy?
    Did you Configure Automatic Updates?

  • Macbook Pro with Vista does NOT connect to 802.11n

I have a Macbook Pro running Vista and a wifi Linksys WRT350 access point/router, which does 802.11b/g/n. The Macbook Pro only connect to the access point at 802.11g 54Mbps the access point is set to mix-mode. If I set the access point to only 802.11n, the Macbook Pro cannot connect to the access point. If I use bootcamp to load the Mac OS X, the Mac OS X is able to connect to 802.11n. The signal level is pretty good on Vista ad Mac OS X.
    Any ideas?

Usually when connecting a camera only the SD card is mounted, so it is normal to see only the SD card mounted on the Desktop. The camera is not actually the device, rather the SD card (and interface) is. Apparently System Information does report correctly on the camera itself.
Be sure to check at Epson's support site for an updated driver compatible with Lion. You can also download the latest drivers package from Apple: Epson Printer Drivers v2.9 OS X.
Of importance is if the scanner is working. If it is working, then it really doesn't matter, except cosmetically, that the device is reported as a printer. You can report that to Apple via Apple Feedback.

  • What happened to X201 with i7-620M processor and X201s?

Been looking at the X201 with the i7-620M processor and the X201s.
Looking at lenovo's website today, seems like the X201 now only comes with the i5-540M processor and the X201s is no where to be found?
What's going on?  Are these discontinued? Out of Stock?  Or did Lenovo take them off the website while they revise the specs?  I'm hoping they just took them off to upgrade the specs.  If they come out with a X2xx with WXGA+(or better) screen and i7-620M processor(or better) I would definitely pick one up.

  • What Happened to AirPlay with iOS 8?

AIrPlay icon is missing on on iPad2 after upgrading to iOS 8. I have upgraded AppleTV to latest version and AirPlay works with iPhone 5 running iOS 8. Everything is connected to same Wi-Fi network. Is this a iOS 8 bug or is there some fix/work-around?

I had the same problem but only with my videos/movies (AirPlay button not there's), but got it to work with a work-around. What I did was open youtube (I did it with the PBS iPad app), which AirPlay worked, then hit pause on the program, then went to my videos, and click play and it hijacks the AirPlay and works.
LIsten Apple, this is #rottenApples, so please fix this. You really shouldn't screw with our entertainment.

  • What Happened to QT with version 10?

I just got a new MacPro a week ago and the new version of QT has very diminished capabilities. I used to be able to import an image sequence and save it out as a QT movie, I used to be able to export a single frame, and I used to be able to export with many options as to codec, size, filter, etc. NONE of that is available with QT 10 or am i completely missing something?
Any ideas about this "dumbing down" of QT?
What are you people doing when you need to do these tasks?
    Thanks for the help!

Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl923
Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".

I have a watch on the 'cryptography' forum and received an email about thread
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=964&threadID=2136135
but when I try to visit it I just get a message saying - The specified thread [2136135] was not found. forumID=964 IS the 'cryptography' forum but when I visit the 'cryptography' forum there is no trace of that thread.
The text of the email indicates that it is probably in the correct forum so I don't think it will have been moved by a moderator to another forum. I can't see it having been deleted by one of the moderators.
Is this just another bit of crapp exhibited by this forum software ?

Interesting. When I look at user http://forums.oracle.com/forums/profile.jspa?userID=815944 he does not seem to have created any threads yet the email indicates that he is the author of the thread.
Can a non-moderator delete his own threads?

Not very comforting, but I tried to reference this topic using its shorthand link syntax (normally links to the topic without the forum id in the URL): as you can see it doesn't work; it looks like the thread has definitely been removed:

Note that your OP's title mentioned id 213613; this one doesn't exist either, but I'm certain it was a typo anyway:

  • What happens to iChat with the move to iCloud?

Just tried to activate iChat after a long absence and got the whole speal about the move to iCloud.  Read through all the material but there was no mention of supporting or not supporting iChat after the move from MobileMe to iCloud.

    Hi,
iChat still supports active MobileMe names as well as @mac.com names.
New iCloud (@me.com) names can only be used in iChat 6 (Lion)
@mac.com names work if they were paid for but have lapsed, were trial accounts or have been linked to MobileMe accounts at the MobileMe launch.  (the last oif these gives your two valid AIM Screen Names)
Is that 10.5.2 still an accurate state of your current OS level ?
Some up to date details may help.
Waht type of name were you trying to use ?
Which version of the OS and which version of iChat  (from iChat 3 onwards these need to "Match" in progress/updates).
