What is a "postfix"-volume?

hello
when connecting as registered user from my PB via afp to my G5, i can choose between three volumes to mount: the two users (senex, support) and a volume called "postfix". my two HD aren't choosable, which i don't understand, but the more disturbing thing is the postfix-volume. if i connect to it, it says, i don't have sufficient rights etc., and a FOLDER with one-way is shown.
what is this, where does it come from and how can i get rid of it? i searched spotlight for postfix, deleteted some files and it still shows. also i cannot find this folder on my g5 that i connect to from my PB.
thank you for your help!
regards
senex

I have the exact same problem. When I connect to my server I to see a shared volume named postfix.
Some details:
My server is running Mac OS X 10.4.8 (client not server version) with all updates.
There is 4 users registered on the server. 3 are normal and 1 has admin priv.
It is configured using a shareware named Sharepoint (latest version).
The settings are such that the admin user gets treated as a normal user when connecting to the server on afp://myserver.local
Only the admin user can see the postfix volume. Otherwise all users see the same volumes.
I used to have the admin user setting to see the whole disc but thought it to be insecure so I changed it recently. Obviously the admin user wouldn't have noticed the postfix volume before I changed that setting. So the postfix volume could have been there for a long time.
If I mount the volume it will mount but is inaccessible. The volume has owner: postfix read&write; group: postdrop no access; others no access;
The folder /var/spool/postfix/public/ is the only folder i can find with the same Owner and permissions. Can someone explain why this is shared? And if its supposed to? And does it have the right settings?
The only other folder with the group: postdrop is /var/spool/postfix/maildrop/ but it has group: postdrop write only;
The server is not supposed to run a mailserver and has never been configured to do so. However in the mail.log it clearly shows that the postfix server has been running for some hours (or days) sometimes but most of the time the daily cron job states that the mailsystem is down. Last time it run it shut down after trying to handle a to large file on request by the admin user. Which is strange since I'm the only one who can use that account and I didn't do anything.
Someone who can explain?

  • What is a Safe volume to listen to music?

What is the loudest volume (1-10) that you can listen to music to, while keeping the risk of hearing damage at a low???

There are safety limits and also recommended limits but to give you some examples.
A football game (or hockey arena or similar) is much more likely to cause earing problems.
Car races or even street noise are quite high compared to some output volume levels in headphones.
A rock concert is many times louder than the volume of your device at 100%. If you spend 3-4 hours in a concert this could cause much more damage.
Then there's the prolonged exposure to loud noises. In general some recommend that you expose 45 min/day to "loud" sounds.
If you are paranoid about hearing loss. See here:

You can use AirPrint to print documents to AirPrint-compatible printers. If your printer is not AirPrint-compatible, then you can try a third-party app such as Printer Pro.

  • "What you hear" recording volume is too

I have Soundblaster Audigy 2 on Vista 64-bit. I recently downloaded new drivers (6.0..242). This is after converting from XP and old drivers.
My "What you hear" settings work and will record using MediaSource Player, but the volume on the recorded file is about 25% the volume of the original file. This is verified upon replaying both the original and newly-recorded files side-by-side or right after one another.
When opening the Sound Panel>Recording Devices>"What You Hear">Levels, the levels are to the max and the balance is to the max for both right and left channels.
Although probably irrelevent, under Sound Panel>Playback Devices>Speakers>Levels, play control levels are max, and all other sublevels are?maxed, balanced maxed, and unmuted. (Sorry for my lack of technical description.)
I play the file on Windows Media Player and volume is maxed on the player as well. The interesting thing is when you look in the Sound Panel, the speakers show maxed volume and the "What you hear" only shows, again 25% of the volume.
Previously, I had no problems with XP and old drivers. I also was once able to revert to old drivers (which I can no longer do) and the problem went away. The difference was that the old drivers had a "Wav" level setting (under Sound Panel>Playback Devices>Speakers>Levels) where you could increase the level. These drivers don't appear to provide this setting.
Is there some setting I'm missing? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Where abouts is this located? I can only see "Microphone, Line in, CD Player, Video, AUX, Stereo Mix, Mono Mix"
    Which card/software you got there?
If you use "Creative Surround Mixer" --> you can set the .REC source by pressing the icon located above recording level slider.
If you can't see the "W-U-H" option listed there, then check if it's already selected (ear icon).

  • What is this  mobilebackup volume that just appeared?

I just noticed a new volume, Mobilebackup. I appears to be a few days old, and appears to have the same kind of files that Time Machine does. It has backup files of two volumes (of four), and has one folder for the first day, and varying numbers of folders thereafter.

  • Can't install Photoshop, what's a Classic Volume??

I want to install Photoshop Elements 2 in my new MacBook Pro.
I put the disc in and eventually get a warning message that says:
"You have no Classic volume is selected."
Quit the installer and go to System Preferences Classic.
Select the volume on which your Classic environment is installed,
and then quit the System Preferences and begin installation again."
So I went to System Preferences but I don't see a Classic volume or a Classic anything anywhere.
But I continue with the installation and then the s installer alerts me
that no Classic environment is installed,
and I will only be able to run Photoshop Elements in OS X native mode.
What in the world does all this mean??
    More importantly,
how do I get Photoshop Elements installed
    in my Mac?
I continued with the insalllation anyway, but alll I got is a Photoshop E folder in Applications.
There is no program anywhere insde or anywhere else.

  • What is the MobileBackups Volume?

The volume "MobileBackups".... Can anyone tell me what this is?
I'm guessing I should leave this well alone I guess?..

Thanks Shawn and Linc. If I'd spent more time looking around I would have learnt this. So lazy... There is a lot on this subject. Thanks guys though...
Bit confused. I've not done a time machine backup for 53 days. When you do a backup does the system free up some space or does it stay the same? The longer the time the bigger the mobilebackup?
From what I've read, if you do disable local, you free up the space but you can't time machine again?
I'd like the best of both worlds really. I'd like to get more space but have a backup.
    Thanks again guys
