What is adobe doing about its world wide Reader xi failure?

I have tried every solution offered on this forum to get adobe reader to open and read pdf's again.
Funny - but i started having problems shortly after i recieved an email on dec 6 from adobe about the october hacking incident - in that email they said they had previously sent an email abiout the incident - but i never received it.
People on the forums in the US, France and Germany seem to be having the same trouble as me - reader opens, freezes and crashes.
i have uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted - etc. even using the adobe cleanup and full install solution offered by mike -
nothing works. i use windows 7.
There is no helpful information on the site - my settings are correct - in short - nothing on my computer changed from the day it was working - last week - to monday - when not a single pdf can open.
this is very frustrating, and adobe seems very unconcerned.

The "hack" had nothing to do with any applications or whether they work or not so, that's not it. Just thought I'd toss that out there first before you go and panic a bunch of people unnecessarily.
Now, try this:
Download the Adobe Cleaner here: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Download the FULL installer here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Save the files.
Close your browser.
Run the Cleaner to completely remove Reader.
Then run the full installer to replace it.

  • Have been seeing hundreds of people paying and not able to download Adobe apps for which are being paid What is Adobe doing about It?

Every time I try to download Adobe apps for which we pay automatically every month...I cannot get anything but a response from adobe apart from the 'TRIAL' site.
What is Adobe doing to direct this traffic to the proper request site to solve the problems?  I have had to employ the PC instead of the much preferred Macintosh to do adobe work. the subscription works on PC...but the subscription does not function on the Mac....the original platform on which I installed and used it...updated it ...etc. for over a year.
Please somebody give me a clue what is going on!

  • What is Apple doing about the "Unable to download" problems?

So, forgive me if these questions have been asked before. But I am new to Apple, just bought an iPhone about 2 months ago. I love my iPhone, but once you start getting into the world of the App store is where the problems seem to start flooding in. Specifically with the downloading and updating portion. Downloading is sometimes a breeze and sometimes a pain as is updating. Some days I have no problems downloading or updating apps. Other days I get error messages such as "unable to download" with an option of "done" or "retry."
The "done" option is worthless because if you select it, the app is still unselectable and will stay that way for days and the only way around it is to delete the app and reinstall if you can even reinstall it without having problems.
The "retry" option is also worthless because as soon as you select that option, not even a second later will the message "unable to download" pop up again.
Some days I get the error message that says something along the lines of unable to download without a wifi connection. That confuses me because there are plenty of times when I have downloaded apps without a wifi connection. So why is it that sometimes I need a wifi connection and other times I dont need it. Second, I am connected to a wifi connection right now and my app still wont update.
I dont know about you, but I sure as **** dont like seeing that red number 1 on my app store every day, but with the problems of updating apps sometimes im forced to just stare at it every time I unlock my phone.
So what is Apple doing about these problems?? Because I've seen alot of threads on this discussion board but they all seem to have the same answers, "turn off the phone then turn it back on" "download over a wifi connection" "delete the app and re install"

Have you called Apple tech support or visited an Apple Store to ask for assistance with the problem? If not, then you really haven't even given Apple the opportunity to assist you with this problem. This is not happening to every iPod touch by any means, so it's most likely an issue with your particular unit. Try the usual steps: restart, reset, restore.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If that doesn't help, call Apple support or take the iPod to an Apple Store.

Creative Cloud had me update Lightroom. Now have two versions. Neither works. What is Adobe doing?

    1. I have Creative Cloud and Lightroom v5.7.1.
    2. CC offered a new version of LR.
    3. I clicked download new version.
    4. I now have 2 (two) LR shortcut icons on my desktop monitor screen.
    5. The new version doesn't open.
    6. The old version opens. Window pops up - LR catalog can't open. Quit other version of LR. Also - preview of image in LR is blank. Says photo missing.
    7. Computer specs? Don't know what you want. 32Gb ram, i5, 1Tb
    8. LR worked fine before upgrade.
    9. Reached Adobe by phone. Started to talk. Line went dead.
    10. My phone is working fine.

The iPhone has a hardware problem - with the battery or something else.
The iPhone includes a one year warranty. If purchased new in October of 2012, it remains under warranty. Call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

  • My speaker has stopped working and it appears this is happening everywhere, what is Apple doing about this?

I have an iPhone5. The speaker has stopped working. I have reset my settings, rebooted several times. I am running 6.1.2.
The support center told me to jailbreak my phone and delete com.apple.iapd.plist. The internet has a deamon that they are saying to delete.
There are thousands of complaints all over the place.
APPLE -- WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT THIS? CAN YOU PLEASE LET US KNOW WHERE YOU STAND ON THIS HARDWARE/SOFTWARE ISSUE!!!
Tomorrow, I am going to an apple store to replace my phone (I hope). I use my phone for business and cannot rely on Vibrate to know my phone is ringing.
Does anyone know what is really going on? It is ridiculous that there are videos telling people to put Q-tips into the phone. If this is what we are resorting to then the iPhone makers should be embarrassed.
I hope this post does not get blocked. I would really like to know what Apple plans to do about this or if anyone really knows how to fix this OTHER THAN replacing the phone.
    Thanks for listening!

I find that difficult to believe... so difficult I would even say you're full of manure.

No, there really are not.  Stop exaggerating.

STOP SHOUTING!  We are users like yourself.  If you want to know what Apple is doing, contact them and ask them.

That sounds like a much better idea than going to some supposed "service center" that suggests voiding the warranty on the device.
Just out of curiousity, what have YOU done to try and resolve the issue?  Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Have you tried any of these steps?

  • BB 9520 What is Blackberry doing about this?

    Hi,
When i first purchased BB i looked up to it as i heard all the good stuff about it and was really happy about actually getting one.
However, now after using this for a year i am very disappointed with Blackberry in general and would like to voice this out on behalf not only of myself but also over a dozen of my friends that are extremely frustrated with BB so far.
I am using BB 9520 Vodafone and there is a major lack of support from BB in terms of fixing present pressing issues. I have all the latest updates and versions installed via desktop software provided.
    Firstly,
Why is there no new OS for BB 9520? All the other models have OS 6.0 while 9520 is still running on 5? OS 5 is far from perfect for 9520.
    Secondly,
Touchscreen issue. Occasionally the screen refuses to respond to any pressing, no matter what and where you press on the screen it does one and one thing only - exits to home screen, the only way to overcome this - have to spam the menu button about 20-30 times to get the screen to respond again.
    Thirdly,
There is a constant issue with BBM - occasionally after receiving a BBM msg from someone you are unable to open the chat at all, even if you delete the chat you are still unable to BBM that individual, the only way to overcome it - reboot the phone.
    Fourthly,
Hang up / answer call buttons refusing to work occasionally, this really isn't funny when you're receiving an important business call and listening to your phone ring in your face while spamming the answer button or the touchscreen answer button to no avail until the call ends, the only way to overcome this issue is once again after you've missed the call spam the menu button until the keys decide to start functioning again.
    Fifth,
Unbelievable, this issue has been reported first time nearly 3 years ago and until today there is no fix from BB?!?!?!?!? Sync with gmail. When you sync with gmail all your contacts are no longer "all" contacts, they are now contacts in "[email protected]" contact list. The best part is - if you change your gmail account or wish to sync with another account - you can't move those "[email protected]" contact list - the new sync is a new contact list.
Right now i have my contact list in a state that  i can no longer comprehend - sync is on for the new email account and all my contacts are in that email's contact list, however, BB refuses to sync them and the option in the contact list properties is "not available", while in the email settings - it's all turned on and looking good... The lengthy solution that BB presented via wiping the phone is .... wiping the phone? Seriously?
    Sixth,
Reception, full bar drops to zero in a split second any time
    Seventh,
Videos recorded are apparently in "unrecognized format" once in a while
    The list goes on.
This model has been out in the market for a long enough time for any company to hotfix the issues, what is BB doing about this? From the RESULT that i have seen in the last year - nothing.
This isn't my personal issue - if you would like to check around it is nearly impossible to sell off this phone to even a second hand shop, they won't offer you more than 30-50 USD for this model for the simple fact - it is this bad and everyone knows it.
As much as i would like to keep my faith in BB - i am beyond disappointed now and have no choice but to switch to either android or iphone simply because this is the only model from BB that has big touchscreen without wasting space for those tiny keys.

    The
only  information I trust when it comes to new device OS releases is 2
weeks after I have installed it and I know it works!  The carriers are
provided the device OS by RIM. The carrier decides when or if it will be released. My
carrier is Verizon Wireless according to every article I have read VZW
tested it and decided not to release it. This was in July i beleive. I
wouldn't be surprised if they released it tommorrow.

    It's begging to sound
like your device may be periodically low on memory. I will attach a link
at the bottom that will give you some great tips on maximizing your
memory usage. Four of the most basic and easiest ways to save memory is
to exit applications correclty. 1) Every program has a
menu>close>exit option. Users who use the escape key or the red
    key leave applicatons open.
    2) Using a
media card for storing files. Device memory is flash or dynamic,
allocated where needed. Using device memory  to store files means you
have less dynamic memory to allocate and have perfomance issues as a
result. 3) Make a daily habit of cleaning the browser cache
    surpising
how many users don't ever do this. 4) I recommend highly a battery pull
at least once a  day. It's simply the best way to reset the device.

    Seriously?
    I didn't wipe my device I
deleted the contacts data base and did a one way sync from Outlook to
the device. I'll see if I can find a couple of post on it. I found a
"down and dirty" workaround before i learned how to prevent it. You can
set your Gmail account to you can "point" to group that you want to sync
contacts with. You then wittle away with some filters to narrow it
down. I have 2 Gmail accounts by using the groups and filters all they
    looked for was each other!
    Sixth,
Reception, full bar drops to zero in a split second any time
    To
my left is a window where I can see a cell tower. I swivle my deskk
chair to the right and lose a bar immediately, for about 4 seconds. I
think it's the nature of the beast, not much to do there.
    Seventh,
Videos recorded are apparently in "unrecognized format" once in a while
    I
have had this happen several times, and have read posts about it as
well. In my case it "operator error" for the most part. I wasn't being
patient when saving and replaying the video.
One of the main causes I see is the video file isbeing saved to the device rather than the media card.
    The list goes on.

isn't just knickname, it's a condtion! The reason the 9550 is perfect
for me is I can see the screen and the keyboard clearly. Have you seen

  • Has anyone received an update on apple tv issue with HD movies and what they are doing about it

Has anyone received an update on apple tv issue with HD movies and what they are doing about it

Whatever the rep told you, it is complete nonsense. There is clearly a problem at your end, the Apple TV 3 is capable of more than the Apple TV 2, and you clearly have the Apple TV 2 working perfectly. Since the Apple TV 2 is able to download from the Internet properly, then my suspicion would be your problem lies on your local network. Interference is a common problem on local networks.
Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • What is Apple doing about Yahoo Email not working?

It's been 2 weeks. What is Apple doing about the clear fact that Yahoo email is not working? It's becoming unacceptable.
As a Blackberry convert, I was sold when Steve J said that Yahoo would "push" like a Blackberry for free. It does not work. I have an older yahoo account and it still does not send email from the iphone (trying the spam thingy doesn't even work with my yahoo). Incoming emails are intermittent.
Has anyone received information that attests to the fact that Apple is at least aware and addressing the problem?
    Thanks!

Free. I have an older yahoo account (few years old) and it syncs imap just fine and I receive emails fine but not always at push speed. I also cannot send an email from my yahoo on my iphone. It looks like it sends it by the bar and the sounds but nothing in the sent box nor nothing received on the other end. I tried making a new yahoo id to try it and it worked for a while and now that one wont send either. The forums have multiple folks with the same issue. One resolution was sending an email from the yahoo web interface because it has you fill out a "captchca" spam thing and then seems to work again. On my yahoo id, I never even get the captchca. VERY FRUSTRATING. I want this to work but it doesn't. I've resorted to GMail only but it's not what's advertised and being used to the Blackberry this is a dealbreaker. I just want to know that Apple/Yahoo is aware of the issue and that it will be fixed.

  • Ipod issue? What is apple doing about it?

Recently I have had my iPod reset itself automatically for a while now, I've come into the forum boards and looked at what other people have been expieriencining and I've seen lots of answers that haven't worked for me and several others. Is apple aware of this situation of hundreds/thousands/?millions? of ipods malfuntioning? Is there any information released by them about this error?

Apple releasing informations? are you kidding?
Absolutely no firmware release has ever been accompanied by a list of bug fixes, which, in my opinion, is very important...
Maybe we, users, are too dumb to understand what they are doing...
Anyway, concerning your problem, I've read that if you let the battery drain itself by resetting, you will be able to get it back working once recharged...
Don't know if it will help you much
    Good luck dude

  • What is apple doing about numb fingers using the trackpad on the new mid 2012 macbook air?

What is apple doing with the trackpads on the mid 2012 MacBook Air, that creates numbness and pain in my fingers.

You have no idea what you are talking about catperson. This topic happens to be on one of the
Apple Support Cummunity conversation. It's called,
Hands go Numb, tingle from trackpad-
Do you even have a 2012 or newer laptop? If not, don't give advise as simple as go see a doctor. Will Apple be paying for my medical bills?
Yesterday is the first time my finger got so painful I could no longer work on my project. I iced it to help numb the numbness, usally the pain subsides when I stay off my laptop for hours however when I start working on it the pain returns and you need your index and middle finger to work that laptop. This is the first time the pain had not gone away, 24 hours later. It feeIs like the tip of my middle finger has a giant splinter in it, very sore! I bought the first edition Macbook Air laptop 4 years ago and never had this problem with my index and middle finger, until I started working on my new Air.
Look at how many people are having the same problem. It can not be a coencidence.  This problem has cost me the use of my finger and the high expense for this new MacBook Air. I'm going to my apple store tomorrow and show them how many people have this problem with numbness. I think this problem goes way beyond giving me a refund for this computer.
Any thoughts after reading other people having the same painful experience?
So What is Apple going to do with the new MacBook Air trackpad that creates numbness in your fingers?
PS: I know the trackpad is made of glass, so I covered my trackpad with a clear cover they sell to put on iphones however that did not slove anything.

  • What is Apple doing about this situation?

I realize that many here have found workarounds for this problem and I'm glad for them and thankful for their support. However, I am wondering what Apple is doing to correct this problem? How soon can we expect a real fix that works without having to go through a back door?
    Thanks.
    Dennis

    Hi Anthony,
It is quite clear that both Apple and the users have underestimated the resource requirements of Yosemite. While your processor and hardware in general is quite capable of running and performing with Yosemite, you suffer from an acute shortage of RAM which is the main bottleneck in your configuration. Your processor can address 8GB and fortunately for you it is upgradable. The golden rule with such, as with SSD upgrade, is to put in the maximum of what you can afford, or what the rest of the HW can take. That range of processors was in use for quite some time in the Macs and elsewhere as well in the computer world.
Only two drawbacks, which they had was heat and insufficient bandwidth for the later serious video requirements. They remain quite capable and reliable, none more so than in the 13" version of the MBP.
I would seriously recommend that you start of by removing this bottleneck by replacing the two RAM modules with two 4GB modules. Most pundits recommend Crucial and or OWC supplied and tested RAM. You would probably able to source it locally. The images below depict your configuration.
Your Mac and the RAM it can take
    Have fun with the upgrade!

  • Cable theft and BT - what we're doing about it

    Hi Everyone
We’ve sometimes had a few of you ask about cable theft which is a common problem not just for us, but for many other vital services such as rail and power.
The thing is, cable theft has been increasing with the increasing price of copper and affects our customers from things like providing new lines, to causing delays if cable has been stolen and caused a fault, so we take it very seriously.
We thought it would be good to give you an update on how we’re dealing with it and what you can do to help stop this crime.
What are we doing to tackle this?
We’re doing a number of things to make our network more secure, including using new technologies to help stop further attacks.
Smart Water® is a forensically traceable invisible liquid. It’s applied to cable access points and can be detected on skin, clothing and on the cables themselves. Have a look at the pics below – there’s no getting away with that glow!
Alarms are being fitted to cables
We’re working with the government to shut down the routes thieves use to dispose of the stolen metals
We’re working closely with local and national police, and have partnered with Crimestoppers to help bring criminals to justice.
    How can you help?
There are a few things that are indicators of suspicious activity, keep a look out for things like:
Work being carried out in streets and on roads by people not wearing hi-visibility vests and using unmarked vans, flatbed trucks and 4x4 vehicles
Removed or disturbed cable box covers in the pavement or at the side of the road
Any sites where there is a large quantity of cable in an unusual place, egg. local scrap dealers
Palls of unusual thick black smoke particularly seen in rural areas or an indication of unusual burning activity
What should I do if I see something suspicious?
If you see something suspicious and think it might be related to cable theft, please report it to your local police.  You don’t want that thief affecting your line! Or you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. A reward is offered for information leading to a conviction.
Thanks for supporting us on this and hopefully with your help, we can continue to track down what has been a growing problem for us all.

Last night about a mile of cable was stolen in Barns Green near horsham which has cut off my business for another week or so.  The same cable was stolen in May which almost caused the closure of my business - so who knows where we will be in a week!
I had a potential good idea to help the problem though!
The cables when they are stolen are generally cut at each manhole then dragged out of the conduit in short lengths.
BT trunk cables are pressurised with air to prevent water ingress.
What about fitting a flexible bladder around each cable so the bladder sits in the middle of the run between manholes - this could even be attached to a pull-through cable rather than the trunk.
The air pressure in the cable inflates the bladder against the walls of the conduit making it very difficult to pull the cable through.  To stop the bladder deflating when the cable is cut, the bladder is inflated through a one-way valve, constructed like a heart valve.  With no pressure in the cable, the air will stay in the bladder, but if a vacuum is applied to the cable, the pressure difference is enough to cause the valve to invert and allow air out.  The bladders would be made to slide over the cable outer to the desired location with a 'vampire tap' into the pressurised outer.
OK, these would not stop the cable being cut - but it would make them very difficult to remove from the conduit.  They would also pin any smaller cables in place similarly.
If mass produced out of something similar to inner-tube rubber I don't think they would be all that expensive compared to the copper itself.
Drop me a line if you want to discuss the idea - I'm not claiming any IPR over it, I would just like to help stop the thefts and save businesses like mine!

  • The podcats app is a huge backwards step, what are apple doing about it?

I made an account here specifically to bring up the problem that the new podcats app is unbelievably awful.
Just take a quick look at the constant stream of 1 star reviews on the app store and it should become obvious that something is badly wrong.
I spent quite some time yesterday browsing hundreds of reviews of the app and the overwhelming response is not only negative but there are countless requests insisting that it just goes back to the old itunes integrated method and that the idea of a seperate podcats app seems like a step backwards.
Do apple in any way aknowledge this app is a problem? Surely they look at what their customers are saying about it, but so far noting but minor fixes to the most serious of flaws have been addressed (eating through a month of data in 1 day etc) .
In my opinion this is a much bigger issue than the whole apple maps thing, or at least it would have been if I did not discover an excelent third party (paid) podcats app.
I am not going to list every problem here as I am sure most are well documented, but on an OS that prides its self on its intuitive design and ease of use, just how in the world did it ever seem like a good idea to require people to use 2 seperate apps in order to download a piece of audio... and don't even get me started on the desgn...
The maps issue to me was no big deal as I rarely used it but this whole mess of an app has lost my confidence in apple software.
Does anybody else here feel let down by this sorry piece of software?
Am I overdoing it? It just seems such a shoddy piece of work and way below my expectations.

This is just a user to user technical support forum, so a complaint post here is really falling on deaf ears (well, at least on ears that cannot do a thing about your issue).
