What is .BAH folder and can I delete it safely?

I have several of these and they seem to have innocuous material in them. Can I delete them without a problem?

I'd probably ask the application developer.

  • Well, what is Msdia80.dll, and can I delete it?

What I did was found microsoft shared folder on my main drive(SSD), and copied this dll there, even though there was already an msdia90.dll in the proper folder. I then proceeded to delete it off my secondary storage drive. Was this safe?

I'd probably ask the application developer.

If a user account is deleted and the data for that account is not deleted, it is placed there. Yes, you can delete the files there.

I was copying files to my time capsule when it crashed when it was almost finished. Now I am stuck with a light grey folder I can not delete. I would´t care if it wasn´t for the fact the folder is 1 TB size and takes up too much space. I have tried turning on and of Hiding Files in Finder and what not with no success. So, how do I delete this folder. Remember, I am not extremely familiar with technical terms.

I recommend you erase the TC.. it is the easiest and fastest solution.
In Airport utility open the disk tab and select erase.. choose quick erase.. it will take less than 1min.
Start again but copy files in small amounts.

  • I don't have space on iPhone and iPad anymore.. So I bought 10GB on iCloud and backup both electronics. So what I wanna know is can I delete my apps and pics in order to get more space on my devices

I don't have space on my iPhone and iPad anymore.. So I bought 10GB on iCloud and backup both devices. So what I wanna know is can I delete my apps and pics in order to get more space on my devices?

You can delete apps (which will also delete their content), but they will only be redownloadable whilst they remain in your country's store - none of your iTunes downloads (apps, music, ibooks etc) use any of your iCloud storage, iCloud is for your backups (e.g. app's content, camera roll photos, messages, homescreen layout).
To delete an app, press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded (you can't delete built-in apps) then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'
You can delete photos from your iPad, but if you want them back then you should copy them to your computer first.

You can also copy your downloads (apps, music, films etc) to your computer's iTunes by connecting your iPad and/or iPhone to it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.

  • HT201250 I've just used an external drive to back up my Mac with Time Machine. I have Lion, but didn't click and check the "Encrypt Backup Disc". What should I do? Can I delete the external drive and start again, or can I encrypt later?

I guess if stolen or lost it would protect my "stuff", and if I'm travelling would protect my privacy.
You must understand the purpose and implications of encryption before deciding whether to use it.
Encryption locks your data with a password. If you forget that password, the data is lost beyond any chance of recovery. Neither Apple nor anyone else will be able to help you recover that data if you don't know the password.
By the same token, the password must be strong enough to provide the security you want. For example, if you're the potential target of industrial espionage by a government or large corporation, you need the strongest possible password. To create and manage such a password safely is a task in itself, not to be undertaken lightly.
If you're only concerned about casual snooping by someone with no special skill, a weak, easily-remembered password is appropriate.
But regardless of the strength of the password, if you lose it, the data is gone forever.
Another point to remember is that if you encrypt your data on one storage device, you must also encrypt it on all other storage devices that would be accessible to the same attacker. Otherwise the data isn't protected. For example, if you keep your computer and your backup drive in the same room, and the internal drive of the computer is not encrypted, then there's no point in encrypting the backup drive.

Those are outdated iPod software updaters which can be safely deleted.

  • Thunderbird 24.5.0 blue belt on imap inbox archives folder and one subfolder. What does this mean and can it be changed?

Thunderbird 24.5.0 has a blue belt on imap, inbox, archives folder and one of 4 subfolders. What does this mean and can it be changed?

I see these on my Windows machine but not here in Linux, so I guess it's connected with the icon set available in your OS GUI.
Changing the theme may provide the result you want.Given that icons are OS and theme specific, it's hard to find definitive descriptions of their meanings. :-(
This [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Icons_-_Thunderbird_2 old article] is silent on this topic, whilst indicating how two major platforms are quite different in their appearance.

  • My 5 year old MacBook Air is telling me it "cannot save information about your mailboxes because there isn't enough space in your home folder.  Quit mail, delete files you don't need, then reopen mail."  What is "home folder," and which files to delete?

My 5 year old MacBook Air is telling me it "cannot save information about your mailboxes because there isn't enough space in your home folder.  Quit mail, delete files you don't need, then reopen mail."  What is "home folder," and which files to delete? Thanks.

The home folder is where all of your personal files are kept.
Best candidates to delete are movies, videos, music and photos since they generally take the most space.
Don't forget to empry the Trash after you delete the file because the space is not returned until the Trash is emptied.

  • What are .ds_store files and can they be removed?

What are .ds_store files and can they be removed?

Probably the easiest way is to use Onyx.
If you show invisibles you can see ds_store in each folder.
Open Terminal.app (it's in /Applications/Utilities) and copy & paste this command at the prompt...
    sudo chflags nohidden
    Press return.
    The reverse is
    sudo chflags hidden

  • What is a cache and can I erase them to save space? (would it be bad if i did)

I am in high school and i've had my laptop for about 5 years now. I am into photography so thats where most of the memory on my computer can be found, I currently have 7.94 GB of room left. I'm trying to erase as much as i can to get some room back and i keep coming across caches. in fact i have about 346. So i was wondering what they are and can i delete them without harming anything.

Caches are small files that load up for example in Safari or whatever browser you use, they stay on your computer so that if you ever went to that website again it will load faster. You can clear the caches, but you'll be clearing everything that helps you load content faster, granted you probably don't use all the ones that you were using 5 years ago, the will automatically repopulate once you go the website again with a new cache file, so it's up to you. Best way, just boot to Safe mode, it'll clear caches and reset your preferences. You can clear more, but that's up to you.
