    Hi,
As every one mentioned that Virtual key figure are those KF's whose values are filled at run time.
You can write customer exits to fill values of those Kf's in SAP Enhancement RSR00002.

  • What are these Key Figures / Attributes

What are these Key Figures / Attribute? Could some one explain it?
    $$PERIODIDCU$$
    $$PERIODIDFR$$
    $$PERIODIDTO$$
For example, one of it is used in SAP2 model, for Key Figure DEMANDPLANNINGQTY.
    It has a calculation of IF("PERIODID" >= "$$PERIODIDCU$$", IF(ISNULL("DEMANDPLANNINGQTY@PERPRODCUST"),"MKTGPROMOTIONFCSTQTY@PERPRODCUST","DEMANDPLANNINGQTY@PERPRODCUST"),"ACTUALSQTY@PERPRODCUST")
    Thank you.

$$PERIODIDCU$$ is a call to look up what the current period is based on the system date plus your current period offset configuration.
So the above formula says if the period ID that you are reporting on is greater than equal to the current period in the system (taking into consideration any offsets you may have configured), then do the subsequent logic.
I haven't seen the "FR" and "TO" syntax for period id, but I can only assume they are related to some sort of "from" and "to" range for period id.

  • What is cumulative key figure and non cumulative key figure?

    Hi Experts,
can anyone clarify me about KEY FIGURES in detail with an example for each topic like
1.Aggregation Tab in Key Figure InfoObject
    2.Cummulative
    3.Non Cummulative/Cummulative Values
    4.Non Cummulative( Inflow & Outflow )
I think it would be better understandable with if explained with example
    Thanks,
    Venu Gopal.K

    HI ,
Cumulative values are those key figures that are cumulated using all characteristics, thus also using time.
    Example: sales revenue, weight, etc.
Non-cumulative values are those key figures that are measured in relation to a period in time; that is to say they cannot be meaningfully cumulated over time. Non-cumulative values are summarized over time using so-called exception aggregation.
Example: stock quantities/-values, number of employees, account balances, etc.

    hi,
I am trying to set up Key Figure monitor in the Production supervioser business package. I am getting the below error
    Invalid/No Context ID
The application 'Generic Key Figure Monitor' requires a unique context ID. The context ID is a four-character alphanumeric code that you must enter as the application parameter I_CONTEXT_ID in the starting iView in the Enterprise Portal.
    Contact your system administrator
I have set up the I_CONTEXT_ID in the iview in Portal and defined the key figure categories and key figures in R3.
I would like to knwo the relation between I_CONTEXT_ID and Key figure  and where is it set ?
Can some one help in the steps to get this working.

Not sure if you got an answer for this question. Just saw this..
    See SAP Help URL http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/42/ef6861370a1bcae10000000a11466f/content.htm
Excerpt below from SAP Help on Context ID:
Including the Generic Key Figure Monitor in the SAP NetWeaver Portal
    Use
You only have to carry out this procedure if you want to put together your own portal role using various parts developed by SAP or by yourself.
    Prerequisites
    ·        You are in the content administration for the Portal.
    ·        You have created a role in the portal.
    ·        You want to include the KEY_FIGURE_MONITOR iView from the Common Parts business package in the portal page of your role using delta link. The iView is called Key Figure Monitor.
    ·        In the I_CONTEXT_ID parameter, you have created a unique four-digit alphanumerical key for the generic key figure monitor that identifies an instance of the key figure monitor within the role. If you want to use the key figure monitor more than once in your role, you must create a unique key each time you use the generic key figure monitor in the role.
You have created a role in the portal. This role contains two iViews, which contain the generic key figure monitor. iView aaa.bbb.ccc and iView xxx.yyy.zzz. Set the following values in the Property Editor for the iViews in the property category Application Parameters:
    §         For the iView aaa.bbb.ccc: I_CONTEXT_ID=1111
    §         For the iView xxx.yyy.zzz: I_CONTEXT_ID=2222

  • Available characteristics and key figures in drilldown reports

    Hi,
I'm wondering which table /structure defines what characteristics and key figures are available for drilldown reports (eg. G/L), and if it is possible to add new chars/key figs.
I reckon there must be a structure resembling Report Painter libraries, where you can select fields from a reporting table. I just can't find that structure anywhere.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Jarkko Kuusisto

For GL the menu path is Financial accounting-general ledger accounting-G/L accounts-Line items-line item display.
Here you select the way the line item display is set up. Also you can select the fields you want and additional fields as well. Some tcodes range from O7F1 and O7FE.
This varies by module but is generally in the line item or information systems section in configuration.
Go to GR21 and drop down the tables and you can see all the tables availble for report painter.
You can add tables to report painter in sm30 in table T804A. That makes it availble for report painter.
please assign points. It is appreciated.

what is the difference between them?
Also give me practical example how to create?

    Hi,
Calcualted key figure: You can carry out arithmetic, boolean, percent functions on key figures using this.
restricted key figure: You can restrict the values of key figures by restricting it with values of characteristics involved in that query

  • BW : Virtual key figures

    Hii  experts  ,
What are virtual key figures .
    Plz explain .
    Thanks & regards ,
    Madhavi S Bichakal

    Dear Madhavi,
    Virtual Key figure
virtual key figures are key figures within an InfoProvider that are not filled with data. Instead the key figure value is determined at runtime of the query using custom ABAP coding .
this keyfigure is not populated with the data by using update rules. but this virtual keyfigures will detemine the value only at the runtime of the query.
nomally when we store the key figure value in the cube as we do it for a normnal keyfigure it gives us the fact(Fixed truth ) information but by using virtual keyfigures we can show the present truth in the report.
for example :- let say we have a transaction on 01/01/2007 for material M100 @ price of 100 and on 02/01/2007 the price of material M100 has changed to 200.
when we store price as a normal keyfigure in the cube it will give fact i.e, 100
but if we design the price as a virtual keyfigure it will give out present truth as 200.
Virtual characteristics and Key figures are useful if you want to dynamically pouplate data from the fact table to the field which doesn't have any data in the fact table and also used to build an internal security model before the data gets passed to DATA_PROVIDER.
You can get more information if you review the documentation for enhancement RSR00002.Go to SMOD type in RSR00002 and select the documentation radiobutton..

  • Query regarding characteristics and key figures

    Hi All,
Can anybody pls tell me in what scenarios a key figure can be used as a attribute of a characteristic?
what are the scenarios in which each type of DSO can be use?

    Hi,
Can anybody pls tell me in what scenarios a key figure can be used as a attribute of a characteristic?
if  your key figure in trasnctional data level it's give you the Fact.
If you use your key figure in your master data lvel it's give you the present truth.
Like this you have 0Material and Material price has the attribute of 0Material.
    read below link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/dd/f470375fbf307ee10000009b38f8cf/content.htm
what are the scenarios in which each type of DSO can be use?
We have 3 DSO in BI 7.
    1. Standard DSO : it's contaions 3 tables (New,Active,Change log tables) : If you want overwrite funcationality go for this dso
    2. Direct Update DSO : It's Contaion only Active Table : If you want write some data using with  APD and BAPI go for this dso.
    3. Write Optimized DSO : It's Contaion only Active Table : If you want load mass uploads and stageing purpose we use this dso.
    Hope it helps you.

  • Virtual Key figures and Chars

Can someone explain me what are virtual key figures and how to populate data for them.
    Regards
    Kunal

    AHP,
Thanks for the help, one last question, i posted same on sdn week back, there was no proper response. I have standard LO datasource and enhanced with around 25 fields, the major problem is none of these fields are delta capable and they are coming from 13 diff tables, with great difficulty i could tie the relation between them. Most of the fields change and none them are picked,
is there anyway i can write a program for all this fields for delta enabling. The last option which iam left is to load the data every week as full load though data volume is less, which is not practiced.

  • Virtual key figures problem?

    Hi Gurus,
what is Virtual key figures? at what scenerio you go for that.
    please guide me ASAP.
    In advance i appreciate you
    RK

    Hi
Virtual key figures are used when you want to determine the value of a key figure at runtime , the key figure is not populated in the load process ie its value is not stored in the cube. The logic for populating the keyfigures is written in an SAP Exit RSR00002.
Since the values are computed at run time, it affects the query performance if you have too many VKF or too many records in your cube.
There is a how to guide on the steps for working with virual key figures/ characteristics.
To give an example suppose you need an aging report where you want to show how many orders are delayed by 30 days , how many 30 to 60 days and so on based on todays date, So this number needs to change dynamically based on the date the report is run , you could use VKF in this scenario...There might be other ways of doing but just giving an example to explain the concept.

  • APODPDANT and Auxiliary Key Figures

    Hi All,
Please help me when i am creating planning book how can i add APODPDANT Key Figures and tell me what is Auxiliary Key Figures how can i use this in planning book.

    Hi
IF u want to add the apodpdant keyfigure in to planning book forst it has to be defined in the planning area that u create.
please look at /sapapo/msdp_admin --->planning area -->details.IF u dnt find it add it in planning area then to planning book.
Auxilary key figures are used when u want to perform some calculations and store for temporary basis.Use it again to display the final key figure.Mostly auxilary key figures are used in macors and in statistical forecsting techniques.
    For ex:
U have to calculate total demand for forecast +  corrected forecast + additional forecast. Then u use this key figure as total demand and use for further calculations.
The data in auxillary key figures are not saved in demand planning.U can add this key figure in data view as auxillary keyfigure tab with necessary description
    HOpe am clear
    Thanx

  • What is diffrernce between key figures and characteristics?

    Hi all,
I am a newbie to SAP BI....i am doing Masters in ERP(SAP)....I have confusion about what is basic difference between key figures and characteristics?
Why do we have to define attributes in characteristics?
If any one can refer me a thread that answers my questions or explain with very lucid example I will highly appreciate it.....please answer this question as I have just spend 4-5 months studying BI and have not really implemented in the Industry but we do have access to SAP BI where we perform tutorials....
Also please let me know the links to materials where basics of BI are explained in a very simple way.....
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Rahul

KF is anything which can quantitatively measured: Amount, Number, Value, Price... whatever you want to measure is called Key Figure. This key figures are also called KPI (Key Performance Indicator). If you want to know the number of sales orders, the number of deliveries, the amount of deliveries... all are key figures
And to add to that, key figures are also divided into two:
Cumulative KF: Like I said, amount, value, price
Non-cumulative KF, this is different kind of key figures which shouldn't be summed up, for example: Age, Inventory, Number of Employees.  When  you measure this key figures, you don't add the age of every body, because that doesn't make any sense, but adding the sum of all deliveries, or adding all Sales does make sense, that is the difference between the two key figures.
Characteristics: are anything which couldn't be quantitatively measured: material, customer, plant, employee ID and so on...
Aways, in BI you measure the KF against the Key figures..
    thanks.

  • What makes this a Key Figure Model (and not Account Model in BW) ?

I am reviewing a document on Key Figure Model versus Account Model in BW.
this example is said to be "Key Figure" Model
    Customer     Revenue     Deductions     COGS
    A            100 DM      390 DM         50 DM
What makes this a Key Figure Model (and not Account Model in BW)

    Hi Amanda,
Consider the simplified a company income statement:
    Sales
    COGS
    -- Gross profits
    Selling and Administrative expense
    Deperication expense
    -- Operating profit
    Interest expense
    -- Earnings before taxes
    Taxes
    -- Earnings after taxes
Each of this lines is represented in BW as a key figure (lines with '--' represented as calculated KFs).
Different persons or companies may use their own details of income statement. For example, someone want to see instead of one line "Selling and Administrative expense" two - separatly selling and administrative expenses, or even break down of these expenses by category. In the KF model every new introducted line should be represented by a new KF.
In the Account Model every line is represented by one KF only. Let name it as 'Amount'. Another characteristic is telling us what kind of amount it is. Imagine that you have accounting trial balance that lists accounts, starting and ending balances, and debit and credit turnovers for each account.
An accountant will tell you that a credit turnover in account #XXXX represent the company revenue (sales), a debit turnover in account #YYYY - cost of goods sold etc.
Simplified inflow of transactional data will consist of:
    Account Amount
    XXXX    -12345
    YYYY    8765
    etc.
In this model (assuming that you load data for all accounts) you can easily change the scheme of calculations and their presentations (groupping, regroupping etc.) in reports without creating new KFs.
In your example you provide a KF model because every distinct type of amounts is represented by its own KF.
    Best regards,
    Eugene

  • On what occasions do the key figures become attributes of characteristics?

    hi all,
On what occasions do the key figures become attributes of characteristics? can anyone explain me with an example.
    regds
    hari

    Hi,
When we create key figures also we can define the keyfigre as attribute, in the additional poperties tab by selecting attribute check box.
    (or)
Once we created KF and activated, the same can be placed in Char attribute tab. In the Char creation, we can assign attributes as per our requirement. So the attributes may be be char/kf.
