What is going on with the scroll function. It doesn't seem to work ever since I downloaded Mountain Lion.

I've noticed this too...when I'm in Safari, scrolling is a bit jerky and sometimes it stops even though I'm still scrolling...my fingers go right off the trackpad. I just downloaded the new updates onto my brand new macbook air- had to do it manually as "power nap" doesn't work, even after the SMC reset. Lamesauce.

Hard Drive: The Hard Drive is on my camera (Sony Handycam)
Just needed some info on what is going on with your particular system.
Knowing the exact camera model will also assist us.
If this camera is standard AVCHD you should be able to connect with USB to Mac with FCE open and use Log and Transfer without all the fiddling around converting etc.
What FCE does during ingest is convert files to AIC. (Apple Intermediate Codec)
FCE cannot read the individual files in the BDMV folder, that's why all the converting is required when you use that method.
BTW: regards formatting drives/cards/memory on cameras; it is wise to use the actual device to format rather than a computer. This is a prime cause of read/write goof ups with solid state media. This applies to still or video cameras.
Keeping the COMPLETE card/memory structure in tact is vital for successful transfers.

The info on that is correct - it says :
You currently cannot hide purchases on devices using iOS 6.
You should still be able to hide ibooks via your computer's iTunes, and they shouldn't then appear in the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app (if you don't want ibooks that are in the cloud to show on the bookshelf in iBooks then set Settings > iBooks > Show All Purchases 'off' - hiding doesn't hide them from that, only from the Purchased tab).

Copy items to the iPhoto Library option doesn't seem to work

Hi, I'm using 7.1.1 and if I:
1. De-select the create "Copy items to the iPhoto Library" option in Preferences/Advanced
2. Create a new library
It doesn't seem to work. The images are still being copied into the library -- that is, if I show the package contents of the library, the data directory has the photos. Additionally, if I do something like open, modify in photoshop and save one of the imported files, it doesn't show up in iPhoto. Likewise if I modify the file in iPhoto and then look at the photo in the file system using Preview or Photoshop, the iPhoto changes don't appear.
Is this a bug? Is it not supposed to work like this? I believe that if I say "don't copy the files into the library" it means that it uses my original photos in their original location and that changes I make in iPhoto modify and manipulate the original files.
I've tried this on two different machines and get the same results. Anyone have any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It's not a bug. You don't understand correctly how iPhoto works in the "referenced" library mode. The Data folder contains the thumbnail files that iPhoto creates and needs to operate. The Originals folder will contain alias files linked to the source files at their location. Any edits, by iPhoto or by Photoshop configured correctly will result in a modified file in the Modified folder of iPhoto. *You should not open, rename, move or edit any file in the library package from the Finder.*
Using Photoshop to edit photos in iPHoto must be done by selecting PS as the editor to use in iPhoto's General Preferences section. Then follow the instructions below to edit photos correctly:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Having dowanloaded Yosemite, I find that I can' enlarge the print on the Help pages. The Command keystroke does n`t seem to work. Any body any ideas as to haw to do it in the new OS X ?

Command + T should definitely work.
Restart your Mac then try again.
If that doesn't help, a Safe Mode boot deletes some system caches that may help after an OS X upgrade.
Top left corner of your screen click the Apple  > Shut Down.
After your Mac shuts down, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key. You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.
Once you are in Safe Mode, go back to the Apple  menu. From the drop down menu click: Restart
Then try enlarging the text in a Help window.

8320 with Data Plan but it doesn't seem to work

I just bought a NEW Blackberry curve 8320 off ebay. My service provider is Fido and i called them today to activate a data plan. I can now see EDGE appear next to my connection bars therefore I assume that the data plan is enabled on my account. However i cannot use the browser unless connected to my home wifi network, I have a read a few posts and it says to go and select " INTERNET " instead of "HOTSPOT" in the browser settings but i don't have any other options besides HOTSPOT. I also downloaded the gmail app and since i believe it doesn't work thru the wifi connection it also says no network available so to me that is another sign that there is an issue with my EDGE connection. I tried the Host Routing Table send message thing ( i scrolled thru the multiple lines and clicked on the one in BOLD letters and clicked register now). a few seconds later i get a message that says my blackberry has been registered to the wireless network but nothing is fixed. I logged onto the fido.blackberry.ca site to activate the e-mail and when i enter the pin and the imei it says invalid format, i made sure i typed them in properly i looked under the battery and in the option -> status and the numbers all match so i don't know what else to do. Could there be an issue with Fido and unlocked phones? And i can't install Blackberry App world cause it says my phone does meet the requirements. Any help would be appreciated. thank you
P.S : I did call fido about the problem but since it isn't there phone thay can't help me. All i want is for the internet and e-mails to work

Again, your story points out a major problem of purchasing a Blackberry off of Ebay (Amazon, Craigslist, etc., etc.,).
Ebay and Amazon act as a show room for private sellers (generally used rarely NIB) and at least in the case of Amazon as an authorized reseller. Ebay, I believe has vendors who are authorized resellers through their Ebay store front.
Yes, you can get fantastic deals through either. The downside is that you don't have a person to speak to, you don't have an individual that you can reach across the counter and grab by their shirt collar.
Buying off t he internet from other than a carrier's website is rife with problems that are not easy to resolve.
A "properly" unlocked 8320 would not have had the issues you ran into. A reputable individual wishing to privately sell a Blackberry through Ebay or Amazon would have taken the steps to unlock the device and insured that the Pin has been released prior to putting it up for sell.

At least here with the hungry carriers you don't need to go the third party sellers as if you want to sign on the dotted line for a two year contract the instrument costs are very very low.
I have my "old" Storm 9530 I unlocked in preparation for a tour of Europe. It was replaced by a 9550 which I haven't unlocked yet. Right now, it is my "back up" BB but should I decide to put it on the market honor would require that it be ready to go on any carrier. That's just me however.
I would start firing off emails to the seller...you deserve a working device.

How do I prune asl.db with "syslog -p"? It doesn't seem to work.

Has anyone has any luck pruning asl.db using the the syslog utility with the “-p” command under Leopard?
I’ve shut down syslogd, and I can search the active database using “-k” and an expression:
$ sudo syslog -db -k Sender sshd

According to the syslog man page, I should be able to able to prune the active database with the following:
$ sudo syslog -db -p Sender sshd
But, what I get instead is:
prune operation failed: can't contact syslogd server
The man page for syslog says, “If -db is given without a database file name, syslog prunes the active database file. This may only be done if the syslogd server is not running.” So, I shouldn’t need to have syslogd running.
But, just to make sure, I started syslog again, and I get a different error message:
$ sudo syslog -db -p Sender sshd
no queries for pruning
Same thing if I remove the “-db” option.
$ sudo syslog -p Sender sshd
no queries for pruning
There are definitely queries because they show up with the “-k” option.
If anyone has an experience with this they can share, I would appreciate it. I could just be missing something.

1.5.6 library won't open now that I download the 2.0 trial

I downloaded the 2.0 trial when it came out and put a few files in it to play around with. I left the 1.5.6 application on the computer since the 2.0 trial wouldn't allow me to use the 1.5.6 library. I would drag the 1.5.6 library onto the 1.5.6 application in the dock, however, though I used the 1.5.6 library with 1.5.6 earlier today I can not now load it in 1.5.6. A little popup comes up and tells me that i can't use it because it is a newer library, yet if I try to load it in 2.0 it won't let me update the library.
I NEED the 1.5.6 library as it houses all my photos. My vault is on another drive, one ironically that I can not get to at the moment (location redundancy).
What can I do?

I retained Aperture 1.5.6 when I activated Aperture 2.0, too. I renamed the older version by adding the version number.
When I double-click on the icon for either version of Aperture it attempts to open the last library that was used by either version. I get around the problem by right-clicking (or Ctrl-clicking) on the library icon instead, then choosing which version of Aperture to use from the dropdown menu.

Ie.. I use an online canteen programme to order lunch for my kids but now I can no longer use some of the websites links. I've contacted the company and they think its an iOS update issue and have stated its out of their control- how can I rectify this?

I know it must be frustrating when a website that you normally use is no longer working the way you would expect. The first thing I would suggest looking at your cookies in Settings > Safari. Please reference the attached article for further information. The article goes up to iOS 7 but the settings are in the same place in iOS 8.

HT4889 The migration using Thunderbolt doesn't seem to work. I have two Mac's here, both about 2 months new, one is an AIR and the other an iMac27", both have Thunderbolt ports. I'm using a Thundebolt cable between the two. They never see each other.

I start the AIR in Target Disc mode, then start the iMac and run the Migration Assistant and follow the instructions as outlined here. The iMac just churns and never does come up with the AIR's hard drive.
Both machines are running Mountain Lion and all software is up to date.
Ideas?

Which are you migrating FROM and which TO? The FROM computer should be booted into TDM.

Where can I find Server Admin after installing Mountain Lion? I can not find it on the store or anywhere? Please help, I need it to connect to my server from my other mac's, in order to administrate without logging in to the server.

If you want the new OS X Server (Mountain Lion) look for "OS X Server" in the App Store.
Server Admin no longer exists for OS X Server - the main functionality like Mail service and Open Directory has been simplified and integrated within the new server app.
The optional Server Admin add-on for Lion was only available from the Apple support site, not from the App store.
