Hi
When ever you run a job, system creates something called as a spool request.
You can have a list of all your spool requests in T.code SP01 and SP02.
The spool is usually identified by a number.
When you select a spool and select the display button it gives the output of the corresponding job.

Go to TCode Sp01/SP02 and give the spool No. which u generated and there u can find ur spool with outputlist,
The basic transaction to set an printer within an SAP system is SPAD.

Notification spool request & pdf

what is spool request,Whenever i create notification through QM 01 & wants to take print out of 8D report,I needs to click spool request option in order to take PDF later on,Pl explian.
How to take PDF of notitfication 8D report so that It gets mailed to vendors or Internal Deptt.sometimes after taking printout Its spool not gets generated in SAP QM.

A spool request is a document for which a print function has been selected. However, it has not yet been output to a printer or another device. The output data for the print document is stored partly formatted in a data store until an output request is created, that is, until it is sent to a particular output device.
The spool system uses a spool request to store the print data temporarily and to access it. The data is stored in a temporary format. You can also display the print document.
The system automatically assigns a 10-digit ID number to a spool request.

Spool request internal error

Dear All,
When I am executing a report in background using tcode se38, I am not able to view the output of the report from the spool request .
When I try to view the contents of the spool request, It simply gives a message
as follows :
Request 74837 in system PRD : internal error
00000040/ in spooler.
Please advice me on this issue.

hello Gaurav,
it is coming because the columns in spool is exceeding the SAP defined limit of 255. Either you need to create a device type with columns greater than 255 or else use the OSS note: 186603. It has a simple report ZRSPOSHOWLIST that you need to create in your system. I created this report and now whenever i have such errors I use it to view the spool.

How to receive OTF data out of spool request?

Hi Guys,
I want to write a program which reads out the OTF data of a spool request and then I want to send it either as eMail or as FAX to some receivers.
The function modules I found so far (CONVERT_OTF, CONVERT_OTF_AND_FAX etc.) assume that the OTF table is already filled. But what I have in the beginning is only the spool ID. Even the function RSPO_DISPLAY_SPOOLJOB doesn't pass back the OTF data. What I saw in this function is that the OTF data is read directly via C-CAll => Call 'C_RSTS_OPEN' and Call 'C_RSTS_READ'.
Does anyone of you have an idea how to solve my problem or could give me a hint?

Hi Thomas,
As you said, the OTF is stored as is in the spool file, and you can read it using the C calls, or use RSPO_RETURN_SPOOLJOB function module for example.
Note that using SP01, you can send a spool via a menu entry, which corresponds to function module RSPO_SPOOLJOB_TO_OFFICE.

How to create the multiple spool requests for a single report.

Hi gurus,
I have one requirement to be completed , i need to send the out put of the report via mail in pdf format. for that what i did was, iam executing report in background and creating spool request and converting it to pdf and sending the file.
now the problem is, its a customer ledger report, for each customer i need to create a new spool request and send mail to that particular customer, now my dought is how to create multiple spool requests for a single pro and how i need to go about it.
And one more question is can we create a spool request for a report which is running in online.

As per my knowledge for creating new spool id you will have to set
output_options-tdnewid = 'X'.
and then using
job_output_info-spoolids
create a pdf using
call function 'CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF'

I got solution but it's work as a notification which we can say the after report run it triggers mail that report is completed as this time.
But i required the thing how to send a spool request of a report as an email attachment.
it will be in .xls or .pdf or xyz format.
It was the additional task which was required by my organization.
I also want to know the following things.
1. what is sap default configuration and system behind it.
2. what the things abaper have to check.
3. what is bcs_examples & where do i found these bcs_example8.
Please guide me to explore my knowledge.

I use the function RSPO_OPEN_SPOOLREQUEST

to create a spool request, but this spool show
as 0 page, but this can be printed normal. but failed in convert to PDF. Anybody know how to solve this?

Hi,
Try this make a note of the spool request number and goto SE38 and give the program name as RSTXPDFT4 and execute(F8) will ask you for spool number give the spool number and execute. will ask you to give the location give and save.
Check whether the form is generated into PDF or not if it is generated then there might be problem in your code.

Thx for the feedback. But, in fact, what was the real issue, originally?
I forgot to inform you of that:
1) [Note 193638 - Calculating spool number from file names as of 4.0A|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/193638] (indicates the algorithm of UNIX file names). This note also indicates "For Release 4.0A, the maximum spool number has been increased from 99000 to 2000000000. The maximum number of output requests per spool request has been increased to 32767 as well."
2) I think I forgot one of your initial questions:

By default, SAP tries to append pages to existing spools with same characteristics. If they are always different, a new spool request is always created. So, you may change some characteristics so that they are identical and SAP will reuse existing spools. See rules in [Note 85318 appending documents to existing spool requests|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/85318].

How to print two alv lists in one spool request

I have made a report which has one alv list based on CL_SALV_TABLE and a message box displayed in a splitter container based on SBAL. In dialog mode everything is fine.
If I run the report in batch mode, I have put the alv table to
list_display = abap_true.
For printing the messages I am using FM BAL_DSP_LOG_PRINT. It has this nice parameter
i_s_list_append = abap_true.
Unfortunatly the messages are not appended to the alv list, nor are they in the same spool request.
I think the system will put it only into the first spool request, when the name, the printer, the number of prints and the format are the same and of couse, if the spool request is still open for appenfing (which it is).
The name and the format are not the same in my case. So I tried to set the name to TEST using the print options of the FM
ls_print_options-print_ctrl-pri_params-plist = 'TEST'.
But unfortunately it is not working. No changes to the name, when I run the report in batch mode.
Who has experiance with that? Why are both lists not in the same spool request? Are my findings right? Why isn't the name changed?

How to control automatic deletion of spool requests while check printing

hi friends
When i do cheque payment run (F-58), my spool getting deleted after printing. In my User setting SU01,
Delete after output is not selected, still it is getting deleted from spool. We have informed users to uncheck this option once the spool request is created at the end of this run. But our users feel there should be some way to disable/uncheck or save this option automatically rather than changing each spool request settings everytime the posting is run.
Please could you suggest me how to disable/uncheck this option 'Delete after printing if no errors' permanently. I have done the necessary settings in user master record but still it's the same.
please advice.

Hi Nathan,
Solution is only to maintain in SU01 , its picking from there only.
May be your user needs to log-off once status is changed in SU01, ask him to check what it is showing for him in SU3.
So if you deactivate option in SU01/SU3 , it should work as same is working in our environment.
You can test yuorself using below steps
1) Login with your ID , create one spool request
2) check the status in SP01 and check if its ticked or not
3) change the tick mark in SU01 , logoff. and login again .
4) create another spool request
5) check status now for new spool request in SP01 and check if it is ticked.

How to know the spool requests generated from my program?

I want to get the spool request(s) that are generated from my report that's run either in foreground or background? how to know this? i know that we can go to sm37 and see, but is there any table or fm which stores this data? if i give my program name that's run on a particular date, i should get the spool request numbers. tsp01 only has the spool no. and not the program name..pl suggest...thanks all

Hi ,
The system field sy-spono contains the spool numbers .
If you have such requirement, you can create one custom table with fields :
spool no, program , date , time
whenever you run ur program update this table ,
with system fields . spono , sy-repid , sy-datum and sy-uzeit .

As a default background job SAP schedules RSPO0041 program in background, this program's variant has the Minimum age in days value.
Can you check with what variant this program is running.
This program needs to be scheduled daily with Minimum age in days field.

     I can, with 99.99% certainty, tell you that you are absolutely right in not wanting to download or install this "Helper," whatever it is (but we can be equally certain it would not "help" anything).
     I cannot comment as to Oglethorpe's recommendation of 'adwaremedic'; I am unfamiliar with it. His links to the Apple discussion and support pages warrant your time and attention.
     It might be really simple -- Trying looking in your Downloads folder, trash anything that you don't know with certainty is something you want to keep, and then Secure Empty your Trash. Then remove the AdBlock extension, LastPass, and Web of Trust extensions to Safari and re-boot. If the issue goes away, still be extraordinarily careful in the future.
     Unfortunately, it's probably not going to be that simple to get rid of, in which case I'd then try the line by line editing in HT203987.
     I have no further suggestions (other than a complete wipe and re-install...but that's a pain because trying to restore from Time Machine would simply ... restore the Mal).
   For the rest of us, please post when you find a solution.

The program are RSPO0041 or RSPO1041.
This is handy whenever you encounter a user who managed to create a lot of spool requests which are choking your system.
Deleting them with SP01 will be too slow and you will get time out if it exceed the online time limit specify by your basis people.
