  • What does the "complex" button do in the side menu ? Flex time menu

    hello
can anyone please advise me what the "COMPLEX" button does ?

    http://help.apple.com/logicpro/mac/10/#lgcpa77a4a3f
Look under Polyphonic in the list.
What it means: Straight Polyphonic would be for a single instrument playing chords. ie: guitar, keyboard, voices...etc.   The Complex setting would be for a mixture of instruments.

  • What is the complexity of List.subList()?

I realize that the complexity of List.subList() probably varies, so is there a complexity for subList() when using a LinkedList and and ArrayList? From the description in Abstract set, It sounds like subList() returns the same list, except with some special bounds checking/incrementing. If so, that would mean calling subList() is O(1), right? And if that is true, is the sub-list slowed down at all because of this checking? I don't think that would factor into the complexity, though...
Similarly, Is there a one-stop shop for finding complexities of standard java methods? It doesn't appear that the api mentions complexity for every method.
    Thanks,
    Eric

LinkedList.subList() would have to be O(N) to locate the starting item. ArrayList.subList() would be O(1).

  • SHA256 certificate with Signature Algorithm as RSASSA-PSS not supported in FireFox but it is the only option available

I have just built a new PKI infrastructure for issuing SHA2 certificates. When I duplicate a template and set it up to use KSP instead of CSP to enable SHA2 signing, the only provider I have available is the Microsoft Software Key Storage Provider which
translates into RSASSA-PSS. I am also allowing the Private Key to be exported due to the fact that the cert and Key need to be placed on multiple servers such as in a cluster.
I am finding that FireFox does not support certificates which use RSASSA-PSS and have tracked it to a few Bugzilla reports. IE and Chrome appear to not have any problem with this.
I want to change the provider to something that FireFox supports while still being able to issue SHA2 certs. I am finding that if I unmark the "Allow Key to be Exported" on the template when I build the it, other options for providers appear.
I need to be able to support the big 3 browsers: IE, Firefox, and Chrome while still allowing the key to be exported. I used AlternateSignatureAlgorithms=1 for the capolicy.inf file on both the offline root and Intermediate CA's. I read a post somewhere
that changing the Root to AlternateSignatureAlgorithms=0 and renewing the Intermediate CA certificate could solve the problem but I do not understand how I can obtain a HSA2 certificate for the Intermediate if that is not enabled.
I could use some assistance with this if someone knows how to make this work. Many thanks.
    Brian B.

    Brian,
There is no correlation at all between the
AlternateSignatureAlgorithms=1  or 0 line and the use of SHA256. In my book, it is recommended when you get into the weirder combinations (Elliptical curve versions, etc.)
If you do as you plan (using AlternateSignatureAlgorithms=0),
then the CA certificates will show Sha256RSA as the signature algorithm, and be universally accepted.
    As you stated...
    1) Change the capolicy.inf on the root CA and renew the root CA certificate.
    2) Change the CAPolicy.inf on the issuing CA and renew the issuing CA certificate
Now start issuing the KSP certificates, they will be usable on Firefox

  • What is the different between Logical complex join and Physical join?

    hi,
Do somebody know what is the function different between logical complex join in BMM layer and physical join in physical layer?
    Thanks.

    Thank you very much1
    I understand their differentiation:
In the BMM Complex join (intelligent), means OBI picks the best way from possibly many different ways to join using physical join. FK join forces the same join always, which limits flexibility.

  • What is the best way of lightening complexions?

Could someone please tell me what is the best way of lightening people's complexions in Aperture 3?

    Have you tried using brushes?
From the Adjustments tab, select Quick Brushes and then Dodge.
Adjust the brush size and the strength, then use that to lighten the face area.

  • What is the correct architecture for retrieving several complex decision reports

The project that I am currently working on is required to save decision reports for several complex outputs.  These outputs are needed for each person entity contained in the request. All of the person entities are joined via relationships and the more people that are sent in the request, the more complex the decision reports become.
We are using the determinations server and it is called as a web service.
The determinations server starts having performance issues when the requests contain 6 people entities and times out when the number of people get to around 10.
Checking the response size for a 10 person request with the complex decision reports yields a response size of around 40mb.
What is the correct architecture to still have the traceability of what happened by having a copy of the decision report for each run without impacting system performance?

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

  • What are the drawbacks of Selective color vs. curves?

What are the drawbacks of Selective color vs. curves?

There are no drawbacks to selective color that I can think of. The alternative is indiscriminate, wanton color which, as we all know, can get unruly and aggressive.
Similarly there are only advantages to curves, especially on the right body. The era of stick figure beauty is thankfully long past. Our culture now appreciates the organic esthetic of curves.
Beyond this, you may wish to consult the Photoshop forum. I suspect you'll get a very different answer there.

  • What is the difference between SMT zoom FFT, FFT spectrum, SVT FFT spectrum, complex FFT vi, real FFT vi

what is the difference between SMT zoom FFT, FFT spectrum, SVT FFT spectrum, complex FFT vi, real FFT vi in the labview functions palette. I am getting different spectrums on performing the above mentioned ffts on the same time domain data

Complex FFT takes a complex input array and gives a complex output array. Real FFT assumes the input data is real valued only, ie imaginary parts are zero. It can be computed quicker than the complex FFT so if data is real it is better to use this. There is a Power Spectrum vi that computes normalised power of the complex output of the FFT for a real input sequence(sum of squares of real and imaginary parts). Auto Power spectrum gives a single sided output ie positive frequencies only. This is normalised as well. Just check the help on the vis for the normalisation factor. The Zoom FFT isn't in the professional edition of LV. I know zoom FFT comes with the S&V toolkit. It allows one to measure the spectrum of a signal with improved frequency re
solution over a limited band. I think SVT stands for Sound and Vibration Toolset.

  • CVI what is the best methods in binding graphs

    Hi all
I have run into a roadblock of sorts. The question is what is the best, most prefered way for binding graph data.
There are two ways of binding the graph data, one is the use of data sockets binding (easy), and the other is network variable binding(more complex) . I am trying to have only one protocol running for communication preferably network variable due to the systems manager, I would like curve away from the datasocket.
When binding a networkvariable to the graph, don't you just copy the received data to a buffered writer variable and then bind the graph to that buffered writer?
What are the benefits of using datasocket over network variables?
Are there any performance differences between the two?

    Hi Iriddick
I recommend using network shared variables to bind data to your graph since is a newer and more reliable technology than datasocket, the shared variable engine enables the network shared variables to transmit live measurement data. CVI configures the SVE as a service and launches it at start up.  This article explains the benefits of using network shared variables.
    regards

  • What is the Point of Active Directory/LDAP Specification?

My college threw an interesting curve ball today and I couldn't give him a good enough answer. The question was simple 'What is the point of active directory'. Now I don't have a lot of exposure to active directory, but I thought I could easily answer. My argument was; If you have a group of objects its easy to look up attributes for those objects using active directory. For example, if you have a group in AD and you want to verify the users of that group you simply look up the member attribute of that group. However he argued, rightly so, that you can do that with a table in a database, why do that in AD. I couldn't give him a good enough answer and now I'm curious. Given the above example, why use AD over a database?
To me AD is a way to manage a set of resources, whatever they are, by mapping them to objects that have however many attributes. But we could do that in a database, whats the point of AD? Why do you use AD?

I come from a primarily database centric background. Just like life experience, it casts a certain perspective on problems. Database people solve things with databases. Directory people solve things with directories. Everyone has their perspective. It's not really about who's right and who's wrong. It's about perspective because people are most likely to go with what's familiar when given a problem. It's easy to have this conversation in a educational environment but when you're on the job it's about turf, schedules and careers. My latest job (in which this debate comes up a lot) has been about directories which has been a very enlightening experience because I've been given a gift of perspective. I can put on the directory hat and look at it from another angle.
To get back to your professor's question. The answer is easy. LDAP (AD or other) is an application above a database. It has a data store behind it, in most cases we can just assume this is a database. So, in short, it's apples to oranges. But if we insist on comparing which makes the better juice, let's look at how we'd make a database like a directory. We could create a data model with an attributes table, an entries table and so on. We can deconstruct what LDAP data structures really are and implement each type as a table with FK/PK relationships and so on. It's sure to work because there are already so many products on the market doing this very thing. But think about the effort now. How are you going to add new users? A front-end? Stored procedures? Scripts? How are you going to keep someone from seeing things they shouldn't? You have to insert an object into all the right tables to ensure that your data is consistent and valid. In a pure database, you're trying to create ACLs on database rows. Now you're writing a full featured application with a lot of complexity. Given enough directory features, the database isn't going to be able to do everything without an external application.
What is the point of LDAP? It's got hierarchy, ACLs, group of unique names functionality and things that are a layer of abstraction above the data store. I love databases but if you start designing out a directory server from scratch you'll realize it's far beyond comparing a user.ldif to a row in a user table. They are similar in appearance but different types of software.
