What is the future of Flash CC and SWF format for 2D animation?

My work heavily relies on Flash for 2D animation then import SWF's into AE for comping. Since I do frame by frame animation and very little tweening, SWF saved my life numerous times because of it's file size, continous rasterisation and ease of use. Although being buggy in places and Fash not seeing any of that recent AE love, it's still a key tool for me.
So are there any plans to clean that bad boy up?

If you are having a problem it is not clear what it is from what you have said.  If you have sugestions for improving some shortcomings you see in Flash CC then you should submit them to:

  • What Is The Difference Between Budget Cost And Regular Cost For Resources?

    What's the difference betwee budget cost and regular cost for resources?
    Here is the explanation which I didn't understand from the book;
    In planning your departmental retreat, suppose you
    have specific budget targets
    for certain cost categories, $2,500
    for travel expenses, $500 for printing,
    and $1,000 for conference room rentals. Using Project’s budget resource
    feature, you can define your budget
    for different categories
    of items. You can then group your resources to
    com-pare your budgeted
    costs to your planned costs. This way, you
    can view your travel budget
    of $2,500 side by side with your planned
    costs of, say, $3,700,
    and immedi- ately see that your next
    goal is to find a way to trim those travel
    costs.

    Hi,
    You have to differenciate the proejct budget from the project cost:
    The project budget is the amount of money which has been allocated to your project by the executive board based on the estimation you provided. This is not meant to be changed unless you go through a change request process, justifying why you need to change
    (increase) the budget, meaning asking more money. Consequently it will not be related in MS Project with the tasks, assignments. It is entered on the project summary and can be meanly used in portfolio reports where you can consolidate yours budgets (you can
    have several different budgets) among a set of projects.
    The project cost is something which lives, changes along the project lifecycle. It is meant to be updated on a weekly or biweekly basis from the team members tasks updates approved by the project manager. Then the PM updates the remaining work thus the project
    cost.
    Hope this helps,
    Guillaume Rouyre, MBA, MVP, P-Seller |
    You say that the budget cost is total money which committee gave you for the project.
    But the book refer budget cost for every resource. I don't understand that.
    " In planning your departmental retreat, suppose you

    costs. "
    For example here travel budget cost is 2500 whereas planned cost is 3700. Planned cost of travel expense is created by the project manager. Who does define travel budget cost?
    Let's say an employee's cost is 20 dollars per hour and I write it on the project. So how much is this employee's budget cost, Who does define it, From whom do I learn that data?

  • What is the difference of using Invoke and without invoke for invoking delegate references .

    Lets consider the below example,
    1. Invoke the delegate reference with Invoke keyword,
    public delegate double returndel(int r);
     private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
                returndel ret = CalculateArea;
                double yt = ret.Invoke(4);
                MessageBox.Show(yt.ToString());
            public double CalculateArea(int r)
                return 3.14 * r * r;
    2.  Invoke the delegate reference without Invoke keyword,
    public delegate double returndel(int r);
     private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
                returndel ret = new returndel(CalculateArea);
                double yt = ret(4);
                MessageBox.Show(yt.ToString());
     public double CalculateArea(int r)
                return 3.14 * r * r;
    What is the difference between these two ?
    Thanks and Regards
    Bijukrishnan.BS

    No difference if you just want to call single function.
    Try the following:
    public delegate void DoMyWork(int i);
    static void DoMyWork1(int i)
    Console.WriteLine(i);
    static void DoMyWork2(int i)
    Console.WriteLine(i * i);
    static void delegateTest()
    DoMyWork work = new DoMyWork(DoMyWork1);
    work += new DoMyWork(DoMyWork2);
    work.Invoke(4);
    The output would be:
    4
    16

  • What's the difference between Application ID and Product ID for WP App?

    Anyone know what's the difference between the Application ID on Marketplace and the
    Product ID in WMAppManifest.xml?  Can I get the Application ID before I sumbit the app to Marketplace? Thank you.

    Hello the ApplicationID is the ProductID on the WMAppManifest.xml, when you create a new project, a generic
    ProductID is assigned to your app, and once you send your app to the store, the generic
    ProductID is replaced with a new one (which will be assigned permanently to your app
    unless you do a new App Submission, which means each update will have that same ID). AFAIK once your app is certified you'll get the ApplicationID, you can send it and publish it manually, so you could
    have the AppID before people start downloading the app.
    (if you need the AppID for testing IAP, you may want to try sending your App as a Beta version)
    I hope it helps
    Yassine,
    Now I think I understand them, thank you!

  • What's the best way to create and free temporaries for CLOB parameters?

    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production on Solaris
    I have a procedure calling another procedure with one of the parameters being an IN OUT NOCOPY CLOB.
    I create the temporary CLOB in proc_A, do the call to proc_B and then free the temporary again.
    In proc_B I create a REFCURSOR, and use that with dbms_xmlgen to create XML.
    So the code basically looks like
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE client_xml( p_client_id IN            NUMBER
                                           ,p_clob      IN OUT NOCOPY CLOB   ) AS
       v_rc         SYS_REFCURSOR;
       v_queryCtx   dbms_xmlquery.ctxType;
    BEGIN
       OPEN c_rc FOR
          SELECT col1
                ,col2
                ,col3
            FROM clients
           WHERE client_id = p_client_id;
       v_queryCtx := dbms_xmlgen.newContext(v_rc);
       p_clob     := dbms_xmlgen.getXML(v_queryCtx, 0);
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE my_proc AS
       v_clob       CLOB;
       v_client_id  NUMBER;
    BEGIN
       v_client_id := 123456;
       dbms_lob.createTemporary(v_clob, TRUE, dbms_lob.CALL);
       client_xml( p_client_id => v_client_id
                  ,p_clob      => v_clob);
       dbms_lob.freeTemporary(v_clob);
    END;However, I just learned the hard way that IN OUT NOCOPY is only a hint, and that Oracle sometimes creates a local variable for the CLOB anyway.
    A solution is to change the client_xml procedure above to
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE client_xml( p_client_id IN            NUMBER
                                           ,p_clob      IN OUT NOCOPY CLOB   ) AS
       v_rc         SYS_REFCURSOR;
       v_queryCtx   dbms_xmlquery.ctxType;
    BEGIN
       IF NOT NVL(dbms_lob.istemporary(p_clob),0) = 1 THEN
          dbms_lob.createTemporary(p_clob, TRUE, dbms_lob.CALL);
       END IF;
       OPEN c_rc FOR
          SELECT col1
                ,col2
                ,col3
            FROM clients
           WHERE client_id = p_client_id;
       v_queryCtx := dbms_xmlgen.newContext(p_refcursor);
       p_clob     := dbms_xmlgen.getXML(v_queryCtx, 0);
    END;My concern is that in case Oracle does create a local variable, 2 temporaries will be created, but there will only be 1 freeTemporary.
    Could this lead to a memory leak?
    Or should I be safe with the solution above because I'm using dbms_lob.CALL?
    Thanks,
    Arnold

    However, I just learned the hard way that IN OUT NOCOPY is only a hint, and that Oracle sometimes creates a local variable for the CLOB anyway.A CLOB variable in called a locator. Just another term for a pointer.
    A CLOB does not exist in local stack space. The variable itself can be TBs in size (max CLOB size is 128TB depending on DB config) - and impossible to create and maintain in the stack. Thus it does not exist in the stack - and is why the PL/SQL CLOB variable is called a locator as it only contains the pointer/address of the CLOB.
    The CLOB itself exists in the database's temporary tablespace - and temporary LOB resource footprint in the database can be viewed via the v$temporary_lobs virtual performance view.
    Passing a CLOB pointer by reference (pointer to a pointer) does not make any sense (as would be the case if the NOCOPY clause was honoured by PL/SQL for a CLOB parameter). It is passed by value instead.
    So when you call a procedure and pass it a CLOB locator, that procedure will be dereferencing that pointer (via DBMS_LOB for example) in order to access its contents.
    Quote from Oracle® Database SecureFiles and Large Objects Developer's Guide
    >
    A LOB instance has a locator and a value. The LOB locator is a reference to where the LOB value is physically stored. The LOB value is the data stored in the LOB.
    When you use a LOB in an operation such as passing a LOB as a parameter, you are actually passing a LOB locator. For the most part, you can work with a LOB instance in your application without being concerned with the semantics of LOB locators. There is no requirement to dereference LOB locators, as is required with pointers in some programming languages.
    >
    The thing to guard against is not freeing CLOBs - the age old issue of not freeing pointers and releasing malloc'ed memory when done. In PL/SQL, there is fairly tight resource protection with the PL/SQL engine automatically releasing local resources when those go out of scope. But a CLOB (like a ref cursor) is not really a local resource. And as in most other programming language, the explicit release/freeing of such a resource is recommended.

  • What is the significance of Draft, final and Final Post for Create Accntg?

    hi
    can someone give me a words for this query?
    thanks
    emgee

    Draft - Used only for the user to view what would be the accounting for the transaction that has been entered. Does not have any accounting impact as it does not actually create the accounting. Modification can be made to the invoice.
    Final - The invoice is accounted but the accounting entry is not transferred to GL. It is residing in the subledger module only. Need to run the program transfer to GL to transfer these accounting entries to GL
    Final Post - Accounting created and transferred to GL

  • The future of Flash Remoting?

    We are about to embark on a major, long term project which
    requires Flash/Database connectivity and Flash Remoting seemed the
    perfect way to go. Having just acquired Flash CS3, I encountered
    some difficulty since there is no Remoting Components package
    available for CS3. I did however find this link and manage to get
    my AS2.0 code to run:
    http://blog.vixiom.com/2007/04/17/actionscript-20-flash-remoting-with-flash-cs3
    This makes me worried about the future of Flash Remoting - I
    don't want to purchase and then be locked into a technology that
    gets shelved or overlooked by Adobe. I am aware of the AMFPHP
    toolkit but this since we are going with .NET this is not
    appropriate. Does anyone else have the same fears or does anyone at
    Adobe have any information on what the future of Flash Remoting
    will be?
    Thanks guys

    Sorry it took me a few days to get this up but here you go.
    ActionScript 2.0 Remoting Coponents and Debugger in Flash
    CS3.
    1. Copy Remoting and RPC Folders from your Documents and
    settings location TO FLASH CS3 LOCATION.
    C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Local
    Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash
    8\en\Configuration\Classes\mx
    to
    C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Local
    Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\en\Configuration\Classes\mx
    2.Copy Remoting.Fla From.
    C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Local
    Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash
    8\en\Configuration\Libraries
    To
    C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Local
    Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\en\Configuration\Libraries
    3. Copy NetConnection Debugger.swf and Service Browser.swf
    from.
    C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Local
    Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash
    8\en\Configuration\WindowSWF
    To
    C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Local
    Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\en\Configuration\WindowSWF
    4. Copy NetConnection Debugger.swf and Service Browser.swf
    from or WindowSWF folder.
    C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\en\First Run\WindowSWF
    To
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS3\en\First Run\WindowSWF
    5. Copy the Libraries Folder.
    C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\en\First Run
    to
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS3\en\First Run
    6. Copy Remoting and RPC Folders from your Program Files
    location TO FLASH CS3 LOCATION.
    C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\en\First Run\Classes\mx
    To
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS3\en\First
    Run\Classes\mx
    7. Copy the RemotingConnector.swc from.
    C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\en\First
    Run\Components\Data Components
    to
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash
    CS3\en\Configuration\Components\Data
    This will allow you to use the Remoting component in Flash
    cs3 just as you did in Flash 8. You will still need to use them in
    Action Script 2.0 Files.
