What is the option for Iphoto. Iphoto is enough to make me switch back to Microsoft after 4 years

Since OSX Maverick APPLE went to ****.

You might provide a few more details, or don't bother us and go back to Windows.

My ipod nano 6th gen fell out of my pocket and the screen cracked badly, is there any coverage for this under warranty? I just bought it a month ago. If not what are the options for getting it fixed? It is pretty frustrating, it fell from about 3 feet out of my pocket and now looks like it was beaten by a hammer.

Should I just ask for my money back??? If it is a simple repair do I just literally push the disc in, push the power button and hold down the C button?
That's where I would begin, too, with
    Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.TStatus of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it saysanything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need touse autility like TechTool Pro,Drive Geniusor DiskWarrior
First we need to determine if the issue you are experiencing with the computer is software or hardware based. Once we have gotten things sorted out there should be time enough to make you decision about keeping or returning it.

  • What are the options for viewing photos with Apple TV 2?

I have an old Apple TV, and load the family photos on the Apple TV itself. On the Apple TV 2, I know you can connect to MobileMe and Flickr.
Aside from MobileMe and Flickr, are there other options for viewing photos on the new Apple TV? Can you stream them from a Mac, or can you stream them from an iPhone/iPad?
If so, how is this initiated from the Apple TV, Mac, or iPhone/iPad?

You can stream from a Mac via itunes selection (iPhoto events or a folder) - it has 8GB of solid state temporary storage, but quite how things are cached/flushed from here is a bit of a mystery - you cannot say designate 2GB to hold photos or prioritise photos over other material.
Even rentals seem to flush if you've watched them and they haven't expired - relative fell asleep during a rental yesterday so i suggested she watched it today and it downloaded from scratch again, and the AppleTV hadn't had anything but music playing in the interim. Silly this really. There's a post on another section where someone used 17GB of their data allowance to watch a HD movie as it kept reloading!
Yes you can stream photos from iPod/iPad using Airplay, but to be honest i don't think ATV2 offers that much over ATV1 for photos (yet anyway), and in some ways it's inferior.
ATV2 is far more responsive/uses less power etc but I'm not convinced you get anything groundbeaking unless you have a lot of guests who could use it via Airplay from their iphones (and with ipads currently without cameras, photos would have to come from somewhere else in the first place).

  • Oct 2010 - What are the options for Cuda supported cards ?

    Hi everyone,
I was just on the Adobe website, and although they say they update their list of CUDA supported video cards, I haven't seen any change
    in many months.
at this point in time ( Oct 2010 ) what is the least expensive option available for Premiere's CUDA's options enabled ?
    Thanks everyone !
    Dave.

    Hi Eric,
thank you for that suggestion, I'll do that tonight.   I'll take note of the version that was on the CD too.
    Harm,
Not sure if I can say this, but I just installed version 5.02, and then loaded a project........... all I can say is...... Premiere with
this new video card that enables Mercury effects is almost better than sex !! LOL.  I said "almost" now, let's not forget that :-)
Anyone who works with Premiere, and has been for years,  and has now bought a new CUDA supported video card knows what I'm talking about.
My mouth dropped on the floor..... I loaded up 5 or 6 layers of graphic overlays,  ... Premiere played that footage as it would with no effects,
I could not believe my eyes.
I then realized I had playback set at the best setting ! , that blew me away even more Harm.  I just cannot get my head around how this is going to change my editing life.
A HUGE huge huge shout out to Adobe for doing this.  You know how you can listen to others talking about something for months, and you just nod your head and say "that sounds great" , well you just don't fully appreciate just HOW GREAT it is, until you experience it yourself.
amazing is all I can say Harm !  I thank you for steering me in the correct direction some months ago,  and I'm so happy I finally made the plunge !
    Dave.

  • What is the process for adding a new disk to make a Mirrored Array?

    Hi,
I have a second120GB SATA drive I wish to add to my existing sytem in order to create a RAID-1 array.
What is the correct process to configure this, as the mobo/Promise documentation is not clear?
    thanks

I have got a similar system except with 80Gb SATA HDD.
Try this link if you have not already got it
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/manual
You will find the utilities/manual link and one of the links there is the SATA Quick User's Guide.  Look at page 7, I think that this is what you are looking for.
    Good luck
(Sorry just looked at that link and it does not work, but if you follow the stages to that page you will find it.  Let me know how you get on)

  • What are the options for creating editable output

We are using PeopleSoft XML Publisher. I need to create inventory reports that list assets and include columns for user input. Currently we generate them using an rtf template, a query data source and print them out in pdf format. Rather than print the reports and handwrite their comments and counts, the users would like to be able to enter them directly onto the reports.
The data fields need to be read-only and the user fields need to accept user input. I am under the impression that this may be possible if i use a PDF template. Is anyone doing something similar? Are there any other options?

  • What ARE the options for these fan-disabled iMacs?

I have started this as a new topic so as not to upset the members contributing to the below subject re. fast running fans :-
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2372777&tstart=0
The aim is to gain some practical advice for myself and others sharing the same problem.
My machine is a 4 yr old 6,1 iMac which 6 months ago started with this 'fans running too fast problem'. Initially intermittent, I am now in a position where my CPU and OD fans run at 4000-6000 rpm constantly when the machine is on. Progressing further the fans are now actually staying on for a full 5 minutes after I have properly put the machine to sleep. I have tried all the practical advice given in the above topic/thread to no avail.
Apple at the Trafford Centre were very helpful indeed and ran the diagnostics and hoovering for me last month and formally stated that it was due to CPU temp sensor failure - I was quoted £411 all in for a repair (logic board replacement required) but I came home with it to think. They tended to agree that it might be unwise to spend this when the machine is 4 yr old and may fail again for other reasons.
Working with this constant hum is driving me insane, I am just one of those who cannot stand it and soon therapy costs will kick in! Not to mention the wasted wattage. My idea is to buy a Mac Mini and tie it to an HP display for around £620 but does my iMac just go in the bin when it is fully functional otherwise?? Tried ear plugs, but my wife started slapping me to get my attention.
I could not bear it going for £70 on eBay, but I suppose I could harvest the HDD drive and RAM. Trading in seems to be a non-starter really. Joking apart, there must be people who are 'hard of hearing' who could benefit from this ever growing cohort of otherwise perfect machines?
My confidence in Apple has been reduced, especially when you others are getting the same problem out of the box! My only criticism was that the 'genius' I saw had not heard of the issue - despite the above thread. Finally there is the embarrassment when visiting friends ask what is drowning out the noise from my Thomson Freeview box and fish tank pumps!
Can't help thinking that beautiful 'exterior design' has impeded simple repair of a minor component.
Helpful, non technical suggestions gratefully received.

Distasteful as it is, it is generally not practical to repair motherboard level problems in contemporary consumer class electronics like iMacs. This is not so much because other things might fail but because motherboard repairs are themselves risky even for skilled technicians with all the specialized tools required.
Motherboards in these things are complex multilayer sandwiches of printed circuit traces with plated through holes making connections among them, tiny surface-mounted components, & other features that are well suited to economical highly automated mass fabrication but make most repairs a difficult & delicate operation. This is especially true for high speed electronics: not only must great care be taken to apply exactly the right amount of heat to remove & replace defective components without damaging them, adjacent components, or the motherboard circuitry itself; but also just not duplicating the shape of the newly soldered connection closely enough to the original can cause mis-operation because the affected circuits no longer meet the minimum bandwidth specs necessary to always process high speed signals correctly. (See the section in the Wikipedia reference titled "Reworking defective SMD components" for more about this.)
Of course, the motherboards could be designed with more easily replaced sub-assemblies like daughterboards & socketed components, but this both increases costs & significantly reduces achievable performance unless even more costly techniques are used in the initial design. This in turn increases bulk, requires more complex & expensive cooling systems, demands larger power supplies, & so on.
Basically, to do this right, you end up with something a lot more like a Mac Pro than an iMac, with a price tag to match.
In terms of your options, you can try to find a tech willing to work on the motherboard, but keep in mind all of the above about this kind of repair. You might be lucky. It may even turn out that the bad sensor is not on the motherboard or in the CPU itself, making the repair relatively simple & risk free.

  • I made a mistake . . . . so, what are the options for a fix?

I have one of the original MacBook Pros (Intel), with a couple of iPods (classic, nano 3rd), the iPhone (3G), and the iPad. This MacBook is not dead (won't boot) - not a critical issue as I am going to replace it with a new one, but I can't get it to boot in order to deauthorize it as the official computer for all of my devices. I have a new iMac that I want to use as the main sync machine now. I happen to have a backup of stuff on the MacBook (though other than the iTunes stuff nothing is critical). I have used Music Rescue before to move my wife's iPod stuff from an old Windows machine to her MacBook Pro and it worked perfectly. I was contemplating doing that with the iPhone or the iPad to the iMac that I want to use. Any thoughts???

Does your IMac have FireWire? If so you can boot up your Pro in Target Disk Mode by holding the T key. This turns your Pro temporarily into an external disk drive. You can then transfer your music files to the iMac by dragging them over. Was that the question?

  • What are the options for integrating the event catalog and event landing pages in our website?

We'd like to integrate the event catalog and event landing pages into our website but would prefer not to use the standard iframe embed code. Are there other solutions available, like an API or something else?
Reason for this is that when we tried it with the iframe embed code the event catalog seems to load quite slow in a webpage on our website. Plus it seems we can't change the width and height of the event catalog with the CQ5 editor, or have the event catalog embed dynamically change in size depending on the amount of events in the catalog.

Keeping everything in one scene is the better way to go.  Scenes are useful for animators who do not use navigation, they just make movies that play frame after frame without stopping.  But for anything that involves navigating the timeline you will have less headaches if you just avoid them and keep everything in the one main timeline.
There are primarily two approaches to implementing pages in a timeline.  Either spread them out along the timeline and navigate from frame to frame to access them, or create them as movieclips (all in the same frame) and manage their visibility.  The latter approach makes it easier to maintain the status of a one page if navigating to another is necessary.  And you might find it useful to mix these two approaches at times.
When you have everything on one timeline, you can have a layer dedicated to actionscript that you extend the full length of the timeline, which makes shareable code, such as variables and functions, available to anything along the timeline.  This avoids any need to have duplicate function definitions since you can have the same single function available to multiple pages in the site.  I usually use two actions layers... one for the shared stuff which has all code in frame 1 only, and another for frame specific code such as timeline commands and other action coding that needs to happen at particular frames.

  • What are the options for shipping Clerk centric role/view in SNC

    Hi,
Is there a security role which gives only Shipping clerk view / ASN Management.
    Anybody got this requirement.
Nornally we give suppliers role and as per the Scenario they implemented - Go to that scenario and start confirming the order / publish the PO and create the ASN.
Any ideas on any specific Security role / User Setting in SNC -supplier view so that -when supplier logs in he can see only Shipping clerk responsibilites or ASN management only.
    Would appreciate immediate answer please
    Thanks,
    Mahesh

    Hi Mahesh,
For ASN you can have following roles:
    ASN Maintenance (Supplier):
    Role: SAP_SCM_ICH_ASN_SUP
With this role, you can maintain data on supplier Web screens for advanced shipping notifications (ASNs). You can access the following Web screens:
        1) ASN Overview (Supplier)
        2) ASN Details (Supplier)
        3) Create ASN
        4) ASN History (Supplier)
        5) Due List for Purchasing Documents (Supplier)
        6) Receipts and Requirements List (Supplier)
        7) Quick View (Supplier View)
        8) Alert Monitor
        9) Notification Administration
You can also access the Packing screen from the ASN Details screen. In addition, you can display notes and alerts about ASNs.
    ASN Display:
    Role:SAP_SMI_ASNDISPLAY
With this role you can <b>display</b> all advanced shipping notifications (ASNs).
    ASN Super user:
    Role:SAP_SMI_ASNSUPERUSER
You can use this role to carry out all activities for processing advanced shipping notifications (ASNs), for example, receiving deliveries or canceling ASNs.
You can copy above role create your own Zroles as per your requirement.
    Thanks,

5 ) For the MCX, i appply the preference in the Users or Computer ?
    Thanks you for your help

    Hi
Q3 - You create a shared directory (the LDAP node) when you promote the Server to an Open Directory Master Role. Judging by what you're saying you've already done this. The Users and/or Groups you're creating after promotion will be in the shared directory (the LDAP node). You can tell which node Users and/or Groups are in by simply looking at them in the Server App. If they have a small blue globe icon on their right shoulder they will be in the LDAP node. If they don't they will be local users and not in the shared directory (the LDAP node).
To view them in WorkGroup Manager, launch the application and authenticate using the Directory Administrator account. Above the main interface window you should see a small blue globe. The shared directory will be listed by the side of this icon as: Viewing Directory:  /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 etc.
Q5 - MCX (Managed Cleint X) is Apple's equivalent to GPOs (Global Policy Objects). If you're familiar with Active Directory you'll know what this means.
Deprecation means "not using anymore". In other words you should not be using WorkGroup Manager to apply mac-style GPOs. You should be using Profile Manager instead. Profile Manager is the 'new' way to apply mac-style GPOs.
Profile Manager is part of Lion Server. It's also known as the MDM Server (Mobile Device Management Server).
It's up to you to decide what is good for your environment and needs. In some situations I'll use both and possibly augment them with Apple Configurator and Apple Remote Desktop. Then again in other sitations I'll use other numerous 3rd-Party tools available.

  • Changing HDD to SSD, what are the options?

hi, guys, new to the forum, I just bought a thinkpad x130e during an on sale event at one of the local retailer, pretty excited, since i like the rugged design.
I am looking at an upgrade from 320G HDD to a 128G SSD... but i don't have any windows 7 installation disc handy, so what are the options for me to install the operating system (windows 7).
I don't know if there is a way to transfer the whole system from HDD to SSD? will there be any trick to perform? or simply i just have to purchase new copy of windows?
cos i noticed i do have a windows7 pro product key at the bottom of my thinkpad, i kinda don't want to waste the money.
    please help..
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You don't need to purchase another copy of Win7. You will need
    1. SSD. This must be 7mm thick, not the more common 9.5mm thick.
    2. USB enclosure for your HDD,
    3. Software to "clone" the contents of your HDD to your SSD. Acronis True Image is a well-regarded package that does this. There are also some free utilities that can do this, however, I'm not familiar with them.
    Procedure:
    1. Move the HDD to the external enclosure.
    2. Put the SSD in the X130e.
    3. Reboot from the HDD. (You'll need to interrupt boot with Blue ThinkVantage button to specify.)
    4. Install Acronis (or equivalent.)
    5. Perform disk clone operation. You will need to tell the software how you want to resize partitions since you're going to a smaller disk.
    6. Reboot from SSD.
