What is the role of OSR (Oracle service registry) in CRMOD-EBS PIP
Hello All,
We are installing the PIP Oracle Lead to Order Integration Pack for Oracle CRM On Demand and E-Business Suite 2.5.
As per the implementation guide, seems Oracle Service Registry (OSR) 10.3.0.0 is an optional component.
Curious to know what role this OSR would play in this integration. If I skip the installtion of OSR, does it has any impact anywhere else.
Thanks
Saikrishna
Hi Prem,
Thanks for the reply..
I read in the installation document that the PIP publishes its components to BSR (Business Service Repository) instead:
Note: You can choose to skip this screen if you do not want to give UDDI details. When you skip Oracle Service Registry Details, the services do not get published on the Oracle Service registry. The objects do not reference the registry because the installation did not publish them. However, Foundation Pack and PIP content is published to Business Service Repository (BSR). Check Publishing Foundation Pack and PIP Content section for more information.
I have already skipped the OSR started with PIP installation. Can we install the OSR later time after PIP installation.
Thanks
Saikrishna

Hi All,
Please teach about user management in Oracle Service Registry(OSR).
We want to manage all users in LDAP(OID).
Questions
Q1) How can we manage the user in OID?
Q2) OSR default user(admin) will not be displayed on the security realm in WebLogic.
Can we configure security realm in WebLogic?
Regards & Thanks

OSR - Oracle Service Registry won't create database datasource
Current configuration:
Oracle 10g database
Oracle Service Registry 10gR3
Oracle Weblogic application server 10.1.3
I have tried many ways to install the registry (GUI, command prompt, config file) but my datasouce is not getting created. In the /log/install.log the flag to create the datasource is set to "yes" and the name is also set. I don't see any kind of msg/error in the install.log or in the weblogic log. One other thing the registry deploys just fine during installation so all the information seems to be ok. Since the datasource is not created, i get the following exception which is expected since there's no connection to the database:
ERROR: account.com.systinet.uddi.account.database.DBAccountApiImpl - DatabaseCoreException: (12021) Cannot obtain new connection.
ERROR: account.com.systinet.uddi.account.AccountCoreApiImpl - Initialization of accounts has failed in the database. Database is not running.
ERROR: group.com.systinet.uddi.group.database.DBGroupApiImpl - DatabaseCoreException: (12021) Cannot obtain new connection.
ERROR: group_core.com.systinet.uddi.group.GroupCoreApiImpl - Initialization of groups has failed in the database. The database is not running.
The only way to make it work is to create the datasouce manually. In the environment that I'm running the less steps the better.
So thank you for any ideas/help that you can give me!Oracle Service Registry Installation to Weblogic
1. Run installation
java -jar oracle-service-regisry-10.3.jar
2. In the Oracle Service Registry installer proceed through the following screens
* Installation Type screen: select 'Standalone' or other type of installation
* Installation Directory screen: enter folder where OSR will be installed i.e:-
/home/oracle/OSR/osrregistry_10_1_3
* SMTP Configuration screen: (optional) accept defaults
* Administrator Account Configuration screen: admin user account details
* Database Setup screen: create new New Schema / Database or connect to existing schema
* Database Selection screen: select Oracle or other database you may be using
* Oracle screen: enter database details and schema information.
3. Data Source screen: IGNORE this for Weblogic servers. Only affects Oracle Application Servers.
4. JDBC Driver Selection screen: search and select JDBC driver i.e. JDBC 1.6 for Weblogic:-
$WEBLOGIC_HOME/wlserver_10.3/server/ext/jdbc/oracle/11g/ojdbc6.jar
5. Account Provide Selection screen: select 'Database'.
6. Application Server Selection screen: MUST SELECT 'Oracle Weblogic 9.2 or 10.3'
7. Deployment to Oracle Weblogic Application Server screen: enter correct Weblogic details such as:-
* Weblogic HTTP Port: AdminServer port i.e. 7001 or a managed server port i.e. 7003
* SSL Ports (optional): i.e. 7002
* Hostname where WLS resides.
* Application Server Context (name of application).
8. Also on this screen there is the option "Deploy at the end of the installation" which will either deploy the OSR application to Weblogic after it is installed (selected option) or just deploy a WAR file to the command line and get deployed to Weblogic at a later stage (de-select option).
9. Deployment Details screen: If selected Deploy at the end of the installation in the above screen, then the following screen will be displayed which allows you to enter details of where to deploy the application in Weblogic. Enter all relevant details:
* Weblogic home: enter the folder where Weblogic resides (WebLogic server installation directory) i.e.
$WEBLOGIC_HOME/wls_servber1013
$WEBLOGIC_HOME/weblogic92
* Java Home: enter the path of the JDK i.e.
$WEBLOGIC_HOME/jdk160_05
* Hostname: host of where to deploy application.
* Admin Username | Password: admin details for weblogic server.
10. The summary screen is shown regardless of if deployed to Weblogic or not. Press [Next] to install OSR.
11. After successfully installing OSR a screen will detail that the installation has been successfully installed and with what tasks that need to be completed.
Deploy OSR to Weblogic
1. If in the installer the Deploy at the end of the installation option was not selected, then the OSR application needs to be deployed via the Weblogic console. So log into the Weblogic console, press Deployments and then Install.
2. Install Application Assistant screen:
* Enter the path where the OSR deployment WAR file (registry.war) resides. It is found in the following path:
$OSR_HOME/conf/porting/weblogic/build
* Select file file registry.war.
3. Complete the rest of the installation/deployment whilst selecting a target server.

What is the Roles Of Bridging Account
*What Are The Roles Of These Accounts Bridging, Non-Invoiced Sales Orders And Non-Invoiced Revenue in Periodic Account Assignments form? [ID 1335054.1]*
The Expense account is there to accommodate European accounting practices.
The Bridging account (as seen in WIP accounting classes) is used only in France.
The bridging account (and possibly others) was included at the request of the Global Accounting Engine team on behalf of France in the setup form at design time; but it has never been used as it was decided that transfer To GL would remain manual for the moment. In other words, today PAC only generates distributions based on GAAP/Brazil accounting.
In other words: In US accounting, when you put something in inventory it is accounted as an asset, in France it is accounted as an expense; so during a period you total all expenses and at the end of a period in order to do a fiscal Profit and Loss, you "convert" to assets by using a bridging account : you debit the inventory account and credit the bridging account. This is done by Product Nature: So you have a Bridging account for raw materials, for finished goods and semi-finished.
The fields 'Non-invoiced Sales Orders' and 'Non-invoiced Revenue' was set up with a view to replacing the functionality (used in Europe) that is currently provided by the Global Accounting engine (AX). However, this has not yet been implemented in the apps - which currently support only US GAAP & Brazilian accounting as methods of generating distributions from PAC.
User Guide
2 – 72 Oracle Cost Management User’s Guide
Bridging: This account is optional.
You can also optionally enter an Analytical Invoice Price Variance, Analytic a l Purchase Mirror, Non–Invoiced Sales Order, Non–Invoiced Revenue, Analytical Revenue Mirror, Analytical Margins of Goods Sold, and Average Cost Variance account.

What is the role of BIS server in blackberry?
What is the role of BIS server in blackberry?
i need the answer in detail?
Thanks in advance
Solved!
Go to Solution.intisar wrote:
BIS refer to blackberry internet service ..it is just like an ISP = internet service provider...
Hello,
Actually, not quite "just like". An ISP provides primary internet connectivity to a computer/network, along with often other services (email, web, and other hostings). Most more recent BBs can, with no BIS-level service and using WiFi only, access the Internet just fine for web browsing and some other services. Further, many can, with just a generic data plan, access the same things via the Carrier Data Network. But, in neither case will any of the BB-proprietary services (e.g., BBM, email, BB Protect, etc.) function at all...all BB proprietary services require subscription to an adequate data plan from the mobile service provider.
There further are many different levels of BIS plans...there are hundreds of carriers in the world, some with dozens of different BB data plans available. Some provide email and social networking only, but no web browsing. Others provide web and internet, but no social networking. And there can be quite a large number of variations given all of the different BB proprietary services. But, in all cases, they are provided by BIS...so BIS itself is the overall umbrella of BB-proprietary services, with the different carrier data plans enabling different mixes of those various available services...it all depends on what the user subscribes to from their mobile service provider.
Hope that helps!

As a abap programmer what is the role in ale/idoc.
hi guru.
i am a abap programmer. please tell me<b> what is the role of abap programmer
in ale/ idoc.</b>
regards.
subhasis.Hi,
ALE is Application Link Enabling.
ALE
A means of creating and operating distributed applications.
Application Link Enabling (ALE) guarantees a distributed, but integrated, R/3 installation. This involves business-controlled message exchange using consistent data across loosely linked SAP applications.
Applications are integrated using synchronous and asynchronous communication - not by using a central database.
ALE consists of the following layers:
Application services
Distribution services
Communication services

What is XI ? What are the role of an XI Consultant ?
Hi Everybody,
I am presently working as an ABAP Consultant since 3 years.Thinking for XI.
<b>Can anybody tell me about XI.
What are the role of an XI Consultant ?
Is it a good option for an ABAPer ?</b>
<b>Reward is assured</b>
<b>Thanks in advance</b>
Srikanta Gope<b>What is SAP XI?</b>
SAP Exchange Infrastructure is SAPs platform for process integration based on the exchange of XML messages.
1. It provides a technical infrastructure for XML based message exchange in order to connect SAP components with each other as well as with non-SAP components.
2. It delivers business process integration knowledge to the customer in the form of SAP pre-defined business scenarios.
3. It provides an integrated tool set for building new business scenarios by defining and maintaining all integration relevant information. (Shared collaboration knowledge).
Before we take a closer look at how the Exchange Infrastructure will enter into the IT landscape of every SAP customer, lets take a closer look at the capabilities as well as the strategic direction of XI. This particular module of Net Weaver is one of the most powerful and is undeniably the most critical. Its purpose is really three-fold:
Connect:
XI has the ability to connect all applications regardless of whether it is an application
From a 3rd party or from SAP. The solution has pre-built connectivity to all SAP modules
Such as SAP CRM and utilizes the Adapter Framework to integrate 3rd Party solutions
such as Siebel, People Soft, Legacy systems, or AS/400s and Mainframes.
Coordinate:
XI has the ability to define a path/workflow for each business transaction that is
Integrated. The system actively routes each message to ensure that it is properly
Delivered from the source to the target destination. Active monitoring allows
Administrators to manage document exchange on an exception basis.
Communicate:
XI has the ability to translate files into any format whether an internal file format or any
Business to Business integration standard including but not limited to an XML format, an
EDI format, a marketplace, or a Web Service. Finally, there are multiple communication
Protocols included which allow the routing of a file over protocols such as s/FTP, http/s,
SOAP, ebMS, Value-Added Networks, or EDI INT (AS1, AS2).
Understanding The SAP Exchange Infrastructure_
Now, you might be saying to yourself, we already have solutions that provide all of this
Functionality. True, most organizations have invested previously in an integration strategy, but what we see in over 90% of organizations is that they have multiple translators and communication brokers, which they are supporting on a daily basis. This is both a resource drain as well as a monetary drain. For example, it is not uncommon to see the following even in smaller organizations:
Multiple Point to Point connectivity: For example, R/3 connected to a 3rd party
Warehouse Management Solution via an internally developed adapter or with the SAP
Business Connector
A 3rd party EAI Integration Broker to connect legacy mainframe systems to SAP and
WMS
A 3rd party EDI translator to communicate messages
A 3rd party XML broker to communicate XML messages to marketplaces and non-EDI
Trading partners
A communication server that focuses on sending messages via FTP, Value-Added
Networks and Internet protocols such as AS2 solution of choice for SAP end users
Interface-
<b>Role of XI consultant</b>
As a SAP XI Developer you will be required to : Gather requirements, develop specifications and technical documentation. Perform requirement analysis and high and low level design. Perform the coding, testing and integration mapping Interface with onsite / offshore project teams ,sometimes responsible for developing java applications based on clients requirement specifications, preparing the technical design document, creating prototypes, analyzing and identifying performance bottle-necks, providing technical and user documentation and training to client, providing relevant data to the Module Leader for status reports both.

What is the role of java in the netweaver platform
Hi All
sapnetweaver platform is the integration of the java and abap.then what is the role of java in that netweaver platform
regards
SunilHi Sunil,
Java makes Sap NetWeaver more powerfull than it was before.
One of the new additions to the Java functionality of NetWeaver includes the Java Virtual Machine container technology. This will allow standard Java code to run on a framework around the Java Virtual Machine itself. It does this by reducing the number of parallel users per virtual machine. It also improves on the overall memory consumption, the application stability and the number of affected users in the event of a screen freeze, loss of data or the need for re-keying of information.
The JVM technology also includes several added features designed to assist developers in managing error resolutions. This includes the ability for developers to switch a user process in the production system in or out of debugging mode on the fly allowing for minimum downtime. While also including tracing and monitoring tools for error analysis and hopefully a quick resolution.
So now, not only does NetWeaver offer support for such standards as HTTP, XML, Web services and of course ABAP, but now it also offers support for Java. All of this adds to SAPs future interoperability with such applications as Microsoft .NET and IBM WebSphere.
Now that SAP NetWeaver supports Java we will start to see a real positive impact in the marketplace for those who are in search of a cost-effective means to deploy and manage Java applications in their enterprise and small businesses. For companies of all sizes looking for a way to adapt quickly to market changes, respond to unforeseen challenges and to seize new opportunities, SAP NetWeaver is a tool that is worth looking into. -

What are the roles we have in XI ?
what are the roles we have in XI ?
Hi Durga prasad,
HI
XI Developer:
Starts from technical specification
Create design and configuration objects- execute unit tests
Support integration/stress tests
Document the developments
Responsibilities for a support project :
Responsibilities for a support project depends on Project.
But in general u have to Monitor SXMB_MONI, SMQ2, SMQ1 & RBW for Error Message. If there is any error u have to find the reason of error.
Then either u can resend it or u have to cancel it.
In IDOC scenarios most of the time Error comes bcoz IDOC comes with blank values for required Fileds & then Mapping fails........... in such cases u have to cancel that message & tell R3 ppl to resend the IDOC.
Then some times messages get stuck in queuesu have to resend them.

What are the roles & responsibilities of SAP MDG Functional Consultant?
Dear experts,
Please explain What are the roles & responsibilities of SAP MDG Functional Consultant?
Regards
Adhi,Hello Adhi
There is no limit to explore in MDG. As a functional consultant you are responsible for -
1. Defining scope of MDG
2. Set up governance process - Workflow
3. Configuration - MDG (Activate services - functions / role set up / Data modelling / process modelling / replication set up ) - You have to involve in each of these activities with technical. You can also do it on your own.
4. Testing - end to end testing and training
5. Cut over activities - data load etc
In these areas, you have to contribute 100% and work with entire team (tech) for set up.
As mention, you can explore a lot in MDG.

What are the solutions offered by Oracle to handle length based products
We are on 11.5.10. Current version treats beams as each, we have 30 feet beams, 20 feet beams etc.
We do not want to set-up different items for each length of beam.
We need ability to tell we have 10 pieces of 26 feet beams in inventory.
Currently we can only tell we have 260 feet of beams.
Current solution treats it discretley. We need ability to sell length based items, receive length based items, do inventory management based on length based items.
a) What are the solutions offered by Oracle in latest releases for Length based products or for Mill products.
b) If there are any solutions offered by Oracle to handle length based or mill products, can these be back ported to Oracle 11.5.10?Please do not create duplicate posts across the forums -- What are the solutions offered to handle length based or mill products?
