A recently bought Canon MF3010 laser printer does not seem to be compatible with my Macbook Pro (10.8.3). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it to work? It's not listed in supported software on the site and I tried downloading and intalling some software recently available on the Canon site, but that's not working either.
The MF v10.0.0 driver available from Canon works fine on OS X 10.8.
As for it not being listed in the supported software, if you are referring to the Apple KB article then that is just a list of what drivers are available from Apple. It's not a "only these drivers are supported" list.
So assuming you downloaded and installed the MF v10.0.0 driver, what exactly is not working? Have been able to add the printer but it does not print? Or are you not even able to add the printer? -

Today I called a few stores and Apple Authorized Service Provider in my country, Croatia. All they told me, whether from ignorance or do not know why ... Do I have to buy onlyoriginal HDD to Apple because we second HDD my MacBook Pro will not recognize. I do not know what to do. HDD 2.5", 750GB, 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM, 8 or 16 MB of Cash in the IT shop costs around 60 USD, while the Apple service costs 150 USD. Now what to do, buy a SATA III drive 2.5" in the IT shop or twice as expensive as the Apple service. Please help me !!
Has anyone tried to put the MacBook Pro HDD drive that is not branded with the Apple label. And if there were any problems with the disc recognition by the MacBookPro.
Thank you all for your help. -
I have an Acer external hard drive 500GB. Is it compatible with Apple MacBook Pro laptop?
There are only a handful or Hard Drive mechanism manufacturers left. Acer is not one of them, although they may make the enclosure (but probably not that either). So in essence you have a Brand-X enclosure with some sort of Hard Drive inside.
Most of those work fine once they are re-Initialized for use on the Mac. For me, I prefer to use the Re-purposing of a drive as an opportunity to re-write every block with Zeroes (which can take several hours but can be done in the background), assuring that every block is good. -

Are SACDs fully compatible with the MacBook Pro?
I'm a huge Tolkien appreciator, and I absolutely love Howard Shore's incredible scores for Peter Jackson's film adaptions of The Lord of the Rings. The Complete Recordings of each film come with a double-sided SACD of the score, which does play in the DVD Player application on my MacBook Pro (late 2011), but I'm not sure if it's actually getting the full sound quality from the SACD. Does anyone know if the MacBook Pro's system takes full advantage of the multiple channels on the SACD?
Thanks!Re: Which HDD of 500GB and 700 GB are compatible with the MacBook Pro

I could not decipher which sata is compatible with my macbook, it is 1, 2 or 3, or what should I buy.Your machine has a SATA III connection, meaning you can get a negotiated link speed of up to 6.0Gbps.
You may want to take a look at my user tip -> Upgrading Your MacBook Pro with a Solid State Drive.
There are dozens of SSDs that would work in your MacBook Pro. You first need to decide what size you want (or need): they're available from 128GB - 1Terabyte.
Personally, I recommend either the Crucial M550 series or the Samsung EVO series. You can get either from a wealth of different sources. I have 4 Crucials now -> 2 mSATA and two standard 2.5" drives. There were some problems with Macs and the EVO series when they were first introduced but they work just fine with Macs now.
Google both drives and find the best prices for the storage that you need. You can't go wrong with either.
Good luck,
Clinton

Is this SSD compatible with my macbook pro
Hello Freinds,
I am planning to upgrade my macbook's hard-disk with SSD.
my Macbook pro model: MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011)
SSD I am planning to buy :: http://www.flipkart.com/samsung-840-series-250-gb-ssd-internal-hard-drive-mz-7td 250bw/p/itmdhwymgyx2htcn?pid=IHDDHWYAFRSNG8GB&ref=9d81c0fa-f452-4314-a68d-3e061a a99184&srno=t_1&otracker=from-search&query=ssd
Can anyone confirm me that this ssd will be compatible with my macbook.i can't confirm or deny but im leaning towards the no side. Formating is a big issue. it sayd that its is compatible for Win7 and 8 but windows is formated for NTFS and macs can only read on NTFS. Do some more research but i hope i pointed your research.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3; Is this item compatible with my MacBook Pro?
Hello,
I have a MacBook pro that uses OS X 10.7.3 (newest version of Lion) with 4 GBs of Ram. I am purchasing Atari's RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum for Mac from here: http://www.amazon.com/RollerCoaster-Tycoon-3-Platinum-Mac/dp/B0048XAVC2. I would appreciate it if someone were to help me with this situation. Thanks.

What printer scanner is a good match with IMac
Hi
So I have a brand new IMac OS 10.9.2.
I also have a brand new HP Officejet 6700 printer/scanner.
Printer works fine on wireless. The scanner however will not scan to the computer. Message on the IMac is that there is no document in the scanner. If I try to initiate the scan from the HP it does not list the IMac as an option to scan to. I can scan to a USB and copy from it. but this is for a small bussines and I cant be waisting my time with that.
I am happy to buy a new printer/scanner but I do not know which one is a good match.
I have been to three major stores and in each the sales person has been adiment that HP is the best. But they are not aware of the issue above. So I have asked them all to show me one working and they cannot get it to work. When I or they research the internet reviews & forums we get the same thing. There is a big issue out there with the HP scanners not seeing the IMac, but it would seem the sale people do not know about it. So how then do trust there opionion on other printer/scanners do they actually know that they will work.
I dont want to be messing around waisting valuable time re-programming either device or changing 20 odd settings to achieve nothing. I'm not particularly computer savvy. I just want to buy a printer/scanner, plug it in and use it and have it do what it says on the box.
So can someone who knows their stuff please advise me on a good economic printer/scanner that matches well to an IMac.
P.S I scan and print documents regularly not high quality photosI'm using a Brothers MFC-J4610DW and it works very well with my Mac running 10.9.2. But it does not list the Mac as a Scan to device and that is because of Apple not the printer or the drivers, software. It is a OS X restriction.

Replacing my HD- what SSD is compatible with my macbook pro?
Hello- I'm looking for some advice on replacing a faulty hard drive on my Macbook Pro with an SSD.
I'm not sure which unit might best for my needs, if there are any installation issues not covered by ifixit's teardown, and if there are any form factor/power requirements that would preclude certain SSD models. Basically, I've never installed an SSD before and I'm wondering which units are compatible with my machine. Thanks for the help! If there's any other information I need to post so I can figure out which drive to buy, just let me know.
I was planning on upgrading the drive to something around 180 gigs (or larger).
Here's a link to the original post which details the problem that caused the hard drive issue:

I hace a Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion OS.... I need to print from time to time but don't have a new printer to go with my new macbook. Would a 3115CN work with it or no? If so, how can I set it up? Setting up a printer on a mac is a bit different from doing so on a windows machine and I am new to the macworld.
All help would be greatly appreciated.Yes. I'm running this printer from 10.6 through 10.9 and it's worked fine with all versions. Dell released updated drivers a while ago that make it much easier to administer this printer.
