  • What printers are compatible with Mac Book Pro's?

    Hi All,
Just looking to buy a printer for my Mac Book Pro but I don't know which ones are compatiable...
Any suggestions or do you know where I can find a list of compatible printers??
    Thanks

A better question is What Printer AREN'T compatible. Older printers mostly. The thing to do is check with the manufacturer, their website, to see if the printer you want to buy has current OS X drivers and or check with Apple support page to list printer that Apple has drivers for.

Do you want to hook a printer up via a cable to your MacBook or print wirelessly? Do you want a printer or printer/scanner/fax all-in-one?
In either case, I've used Canon printers for years, and found that they work well with macs and have good driver and software support for OS X through 10.7 Lion. I also like that Canon offers a number of models with individual color ink tanks, so you just replace the colors you use. Some printers use just two tanks with multiple colors, so when one is out, you toss the whole tank.  Although I haven't used them, some also like Brother printers.

What printers are compatible with Airport Extreme so my PC, I-Phone and I-pad can all print wirelessly?
    Thanks

You can only use AirPrint-capable printers to print from your devices > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356

Virtually any wireless printer will work just fine as well as a printer that connects using Ethernet. If you are looking at an All-in-One type of device....all functions like print, scan, copy, maintenance, etc will be supported.
If you are looking at USB devices, Apple does not provide a list of compatible models, so It is difficult to say with certainly what will work and what will not. In general, most USB printers will work.
But....very important....if you are looking at an All-in-One USB device, you need to keep in mind that only the print function will work when the device is connected to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme. Scan, copy, fax, maintenance, etc. will not be supported.
Bottom line...if you are looking at an All-in-One device and you need all of the functions, you need to choose a device that connects using wireless only or Ethernet, not USB.

You need to clear what you want. All in one printer that does printing and scanning? There are many. Look at the HP Envy series.

  • What printers are compatible with Lion?

I am on my second printer, and no dice with HP officejet 4500.
Are there any printers that are compatible with Lion, and easy to install.
It has been nothing but a nightmare, and a financial burden to try to find a printer that works.
    please advise, thanks!

There are so many printers compatible. It makes no sense to list all. The HP officejet 4500 you have is compatible if you have the right driver:

  • What printers are compatible with OS X 10.9?

Since upgrading to OS X 10.9, the scanner in my HP Officeject 4500 printer does not work, and there is no driver update from HP that solves the problem. When I shop online for printers, they seem to be compatible with a range of OS X versions only up to 10.8. Has anyone found an affordable home printer ($100) that works with Mavericks?

Yes, I got the latest update and it did not resolve the problem. The scanned page appears on the monitor, but the saved file is garbage. Problem seems to reside in the HP scan.app software. Maybe I can get third-party software that's compatible with the HP hardware?
The issue is HP's app, all Mac's come with Image Capture. Use this instead of the HP app, it may be all you need. Here are some basice Image Capture instructions:

  • What printers are compatible with OS X 10.9.5?

When I first got this apple computer, I bought an Epson Stylus NX430 printer.  Not it doesn't work, no matter what.  I even tried to uninstall and then reinstall.....and it says it is not compatible.
Anyone know which printer might work?  Not an expensive one - maybe around or under $ 100.  You can email me at *****if you have any suggestions.
    Thanks so much.

    Donna,
There are probably hundreds of printers around that will work with Mavericks and Yosemite. Which type of printer are you looking for (inlet or laser, for example) and what will you be using it to do primarily (printing B&W memos, printing photos, etc.)?
You also may want to contact Epson to see if they have  a printer driver that will work with Mavericks and the NX430 printer.
    Good luck,

I'm an employee of the company, and while I'm not entirely sure what you mean about printing from the ShoeBox app, we'd be happy to help you with whatever your objectives may be.  Feel free to send us an email at [email protected]

  • I've got a late 2009 mac mini with a 320gb hard drive and I want to upgrade it to a 1tb drive or bigger. What HDDs are compatible with my mini?

I've got a late 2009 mac mini with a 320gb hard drive and I want to upgrade it to a 1tb drive or bigger. What HDDs are compatible with my mini?
Because of the price I'm not interested in solid state drives, unless of course you want to send me $1,000.
I've already got external drives but I take my mini back and forth to work and don't want to carry those drives with me.
I'm not interested in buying a laptop. My mini works great so why waste $1,000 or more when I can buy a 1 to 3 TB hdd for under $300 and have exactly what I want. My late 2009 Mac Mini with a large hdd.
I went to Crucial's website and they can't tell me what drives fit my Mac Mini. That's where I got my ram (8GB). I'm ONLY interested in name brand quality HDDs.

The limiting factor in your 2009 mini is the max 9.5mm drive thickness.
One of the largest capacity 2.5" drives that meets this criteria is the HGST (formerly Hitachi) at 1.5GB
Any reputable SATA HDD you can find that is not thicker then this 9.5mm will work.

Most any Thunderbolt, HDMI, DVI, or VGA monitor will work with the new Mini, though many problems exist with the HDMI port it seems.

Some types of AVIs and all protected WMA and WMV files aren't. If the component needed to open a movie isn't clear, the free MPEG Streamclip will reveal what it is or if it's possible at all.

  • What video cameras are compatible with mac without having to download software

What video cameras are compatible with mac computers without having to download software?

Did you try connecting your camera to the computer USB port via the supplied USB interface cable instead of plugging in the SD card directly?
No driver is needed to connect your computer to your camera.

Regardless of whether or not you 'like' downloading and installing software on your computer, Canon DOES HAVE software available for your specific camera and it IS compatible with recent versions of the Mac OS X operating system. Maybe try that instead of whining here about it not being compatible.

  • What cameras  are compatible with the camera connection kit

what cameras are compatible with the camera connection kit and ipad2

I also recently bought the camera kit and found that it worked fine as long as you don't format the SD card using PC. Once I re-formatted using my camera I could once again upload my photos. that was until I switched formats to Adobe RAW, it seemed unable to upload again. So I switched to S RAW and that worked fine. Sometimes my kit won't upload photos but I find that by just re-inserting the card it works fine.
Haven't tried video yet, but I recently learned that the devices are quit sensitive to the "Format"(that needs to be FAT32, or exFAT- but in this instance it needs to be formatted by a Mac).
    Good luck
