What's my IP address?

Until recently, my ISP provided me with a dynamic IP address. A couple weeks ago, I upgraded the modem from an Alcatel (something) to a Thomson (something).
Anyway, I use FireFox with an add-on called ExternalIP. It shows my current IP address in the lower right corner. It was really neat. After I changed to the new modem, the IP address reported by ExternalIP never changed. It could be that my ISP has started to give me a static IP address.
It now reports "78.82.**.*" all the time, but when I go into my MAc's Network Utility, it says that my IP address is "192.168.1.64". Earlier, before the modem switch, the IP numbers always matched.
So now I can't figure out which is correct. Is one of them a generic number for the modem itself? In which case, which one?

The 192.168.1.64 is your "inside" IP, your Router is likely 192.168.1.1, the others are the "outside IP that the whole world can see, (I;ll ask they be edited out for your safety).
There's also what's my ip...
http://www.whatsmyip.org/
Even if you don't have a Static IP, it may not change for a long time, like how long a certain Server at the ISP stays up & running.
So if you wanted to find your computer from another computer at home, you'd use the 192.168 one, and from China you'd use the other one!

  • What is the exact address I send my phone to for repairs?

what is the exact address I send my phone to for repairs?

That is not how it works.
In the U.S. for example, if an exchange under warranty is approved over the phone, AppleCare ships the replacement iPhone and the box the replacement iPhone is shipped with is used to send AppleCare the iPhone being exchanged under warranty.
No one arbitrarily ships their iPhone to Apple for repair. They won't accept the shipment for starters and an iPhone will be exchanged under warranty if needed, not repaired.

  • HT4098 what is the IP address for Itunes to manage my account not the apple Ip address?

what is the IP address to manage my Itunes account?  I am not able to go on the original computer I set it up on and can not go in and discontinue auto payments.

It's not IP address, it's your Apple ID (which is I think always an email address). HT4098 just says you can't cancel on AppleTV - you need to sign in to the store on your computer or iPhone or iPad. So as long as you can sign in to the store, just follow the steps for turning off auto renewal in that article.

It's the address where your bills are sent, i.e. credit card, mortgage, car payment, etc.  Most likely it's your home address.

This is the complete listing of Apple stores, if not US click on the drop down under the store picture to get a list of other countries.  From the list you can find an Apple store near you and begin the process.
If there is no store in your country, you can also open a repair request at the ExpressLane: https://expresslane.apple.com and then choose your product, iPhone, and fill out the information needed.

  • SETTING UP E FAX ASKING ME MY PROXY ADDRESS ??? WHAT IS MY PROXY ADDRESS??cc=us

    WHAT IS MY PROXY ADDRESS????

Here is a link from Microsoft that explains what a proxy address is:  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa125382(v=exchg.65).aspx .  If eFax is asking for a proxy address you may need to set a static IP on your printer to bypass this problem.  There are two ways to set a static IP.  The easiest way is through the front panel of the printer, but before I can give you those directions, I need to know what type of printer you are using.  Thank you in advance for your reply.

  • What does the local-address element stand for here?

Please se the following Coherence Extend Proxy Configuration file:
What does the <local-address> element stand for? Does it define that only the local clients (local with server proxy) can be accepted?

I think you not got the real meaning here.
<local-address> element is used to specify a local address (IP or DNS name) and port that the TCP/IP ServerSocket (opened by the connection acceptor) will listen on. It's not a filter used to confine the client IP address.
For example, the following will instruct the connection acceptor to bind the TCP/IP ServerSocket to 192.168.0.2:9099:
    <local-address>
      <address>192.168.0.2</address>
      <port>9099</port>
      <reusable>true</reusable>
    </local-address>

How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • What is a smart address and how do I use this function.

I am trying to find out how to add the name of a sender to my address book. Mail help says
" In a message you receive, click the arrow in a Smart Address and choose "Add to Address Book" from the pop-up menu. Or select a message in the message window and choose Message > Add Sender to Address Book."
Well, there isn't a Smart Address or any arrow to click. When I try to look up Smart Address in Mail help it tells me TopicListNoResults....!!
So what is this feature and how do I use it.?!

Look in the preview window at a message you have received and put the cursor over the From address. The name will be surrounded by a blue oval with a down arrow on the right end. Click the arrow and one of the options is add to address book.

  • HT5312 What is the email address or contact information for me to get a rescue email to change my security questions.

I need help and I don't know what else to do.

If you don't already have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions - when you can, then there are instructions on the page that you posted from on how to add one.
If you don't have a rescue email address then see if the instructions on this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551
