My MiniDV camcorder records video in widescreen (16:9) , but the version of iMovie (version 3) I have squashes the widescreen image to a 4:3 dimension rectangle.
Depending on how fast your processor is and your graphics card, you can run iMovie '05 or iMovie '06.

iMovie '05 is the first (oldest) version that supports widescreen (16:9).

The current updates 10.1.13 and 11.0.10 no longer support Windows XP SP3. The last versions to test were 10.1.10 and 11.0.3 I think. But I wouldn't recommend using those because of the Security Updates in between those versions and the current updates. Microsoft doesn't even support Windows XP SP3 any longer. I would say to try updating both the OS and the applications.

The iPhone 3GS supports Bluetooth 2.1 and earlier; all versions of Bluetooth are backwards compatible.

Yes, due to Incomplete Software Update on your iPhone your Device is now in Recovery Mode and you cannot take a Backup now. But if you have taken a backup earlier then you can Restore that backup on your iPhone after you Reset your iPhone to Factory Settings.

We were recently given an older Gateway laptop that we intend to use solely as an internet terminal. Alas, it is running Windows ME and I don't even know if it has all the specs to upgrade (and certainly not to Vista, which is the only thing we have an install disk for). It currently has Firefox 2.0.0.20, which of course contains numerous security vulnerabilities and is incompatible with most newer plugins.
