What's with the Yoga 3 Pro power adapter - it's a USB charger too?

absolutly agree, no chance to buy this cable in NZ. What a bad service. If anybody has a link where to buy one for ANZ would be great.

Yes the Yoga 3 Pro power adapter is a USB charger too!
How does it work?
The special "fool proof" charging cord has two extra pins on the AC adapter end and two extra pins on the Yoga 3 Pro end. The extra pins only make a connection when the fool proof cord is plugged in to the Lenovo charger and the Yoga 3 Pro. When a regular USB cord is plugged into either the charger or the Yoga 3 Pro, it makes a regular USB connection.
Can I charge the Yoga 3 Pro with any USB charger?
No. The Yoga 3 Pro requires 2A at 20V, which is what the provided 40W Lenovo AC adapter supplies.
Can I charge a USB device with the Yoga 3 Pro AC adapter?
Absolutely. In addition to 2A at 20, the Yoga 3 Pro AC adapter supplies 2A at 5.2V (10.4W), enough to charge a phone or tablet. Works for iPad.
Where can I buy spare AC adapters and cords?
AC adapters with cords are sold in the accessories section of the Lenovo store.
Where do I find the part numbers for the AC adapter and cord?
Look for AC Adapters In the PDF Yoga 3 Pro Hardware Maintenance Manual.
What are the USB specs of the Yoga 3 charging port?
It's a USB 2.0 port. It provides enough power to charge an iPhone, but not enough to charge an iPad. If you want to charge an iPad, try the USB 3.0 port on the right of the Yoga 3 Pro.

  • Lenovo yoga 2 pro power adapter

I just got a refurbished lenovo yoga 2 pro laptop. Everytime I start my laptop, it pops out a message: "performance will be affected if the power adapter can not provide enough charge." and my battery icon always show "99% available, plugged in, not charging". Can someone help me figure out the problem?

I believe 99% is a protection cap for the lithium battery.  Mine won't charge past 99% either when turned on and plugged in.  Unsure about the message though--never seen that.

Laptop is a misnomer often applied to notebook computers.
have Apple say their computers should not be used on my lap
Notebook computers violate all basics of ergonomics to facilitate portability. Many users require more comfort than is achieved when using a notebook, which is why stands, external keyboards and mice are all offered by third party vendors to enhance the user experience of their notebook computer.
No human being that has reasonably good posture habits should consider using their lap as a top for a portable computer.
It makes my neck hurt just thinking about it........
I can't believe that OSHA, Workman's Comp Insurance, etc., doesn't have rules against the improper use of notebook computers.....
is supposed to be the ability to not be at a desk.
One of the benefits of these computers is portability. Whether or not that is involves a desk is up to conditions at hand.
Misuse of this portability does not negate the positve attributes that abound.
If you don't want red marks on your lap, use the machine properly....

  • Problems with Adobe Flash on the Yoga 2 Pro

For some reason Adobe Flash is screwed up in IE 11. sometimes it works, other times that red banner just pops up and says flash is not installed in this browser. i even downloaded and installed the patch it tells you to. doesnt do anything. And Java. I cant get it to work at all even though it says its properly installed on java.com. I know its not Windows 8 thats the problem because they both work just fine on my desktop. Ive had the Yoga 2 Pro for 2 days now so i will tinker with it more and probably get it working but if anyone has any quick solutions on what is causing these issues, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Chrome comes with Flash Player preinstalled; you don't need to install it.
By Mozilla you mean Firefox?  Make sure that the plugin is enabled (in Chrome as well).
If that does not solve your problem, describe exactly what "not work" means.

Hi , and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
And sorry to report that OSX is more Widows like than ever, but….
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • Yoga 2 Pro power cable

HiEither my Yoga 2 Pro power cable OR adapter are shortening. What are their specs? I am not sure I have the original, so I want to make sure I buy the original this time.I have searched in various places online, but I can't find the type of plug that goes into the adapter.BTW I am using a European plug (220v)Where can I find them onine? Thanks

Unfortunately, I can't help you with your power problems, but I'd like to point out one thing.
I think the reason why the bottom of your machine does not look like the ones in the pictures your found in other threads is that you are looking at the wrong line of Yogas.
You see, there are actually two different line of Yogas: the Lenovo Ideapad Yoga (consumer) line, and the Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga (business) line. The model you mention having, the Yoga 2 Pro (which I own too), is from the Ideapad consumer line, not the Thinkpad line. The Ideapad and Thinkpad Yoga have very different looking bottoms. Judging from the fact that you posted in the Thinkpad section of the forum rather than the Ideapad section ( Idea Windows based Tablets and Convertibles ), you either did not realize there is more than one Yoga line, or assumed you had a Thinkpad model.

  • Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro Power bank

Hello, I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 pro and as we all know the yoga 3 pro has a disappointing battery life. I know i cant use a normal Power bank for ex. phones because the yoga 3 pro need 20v. Lenovo does  not either sell a power bank that's compatible. So what can I do? I'm almost willing to build it my self, but I don't know which components i need.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
Sorry to hear of your problems.  Since the adapter is making noise and getting hot I would recommend you discontinue using it until you get a replacement.  Continued use may cause additional damage.
As far as why it happened,  it is difficult to say.  Most likely there is a short in the wiring if it is getting hot near the end.  Possibly the wire had gotten twisted or bent or there is problem with the end piece itself.

  • Can't Make a Decision on the Yoga 2 Pro

Am in the market for a new laptop and love the look of the Yoga 2 Pro.  It has the specs that I'm looking for - i5, 256gb SSD, 8gb RAM - but I keep hesitating over the 3200x1800 resolution.
I am a middle-aged guy (with middle-aged eyes) who will be using the laptop for typical e-mail and internet browsing as well as heavy MS Office, particularly Excel.  I looked at a Y2P in Best Buy today and in Desktop Mode even the basic taskbar icons were tiny.  Resolution was set at the native 3200x1800 and the scaling was set at Largest.
From what I understand, Windows Store Apps appear just fine, but many desktop apps have scaling problems.  Is that a true statement?  What about Excel?  Are the menus and cells the same size as I would be seeing on my older Windows 7 screen?
If I change the resolution to 1080, will everything remain fairly crisp or will it blur?
The Yellow and Wifi issues are fixable, but I can't get a handle on this high res thing.  I'd hate to pay $1k for machine and have to hobble it to make it usable until the software catches up.  If you use your Y2P like I would (i.e. MS Office, etc.), do you find yourself cursing at small menus and icons, or are you working away in complete bliss?
    Thanks.

I don't own a Yoga 2 Pro, but about resolutions:
TL;DR: If 1600x900 is an option, you shouldn't get any of the traditional blurring caused by changing resolutions.
The long version with math and some history about Apple and Lenovo:
Yes, changing a 3200x1800 native screen to 1920x1080 will make it blurry. Why? Because 3200 cannot neatly divided into 1920 and 1800 cannot neatly divided into 1080. You can't split pixels, so you get some blur as the monitor tries to round-off some things.
Buuuut, if you can set it to 1600x900 (the original Yoga's resolution, incidentally), then you might be OK. It's exactly half the native and shouldn't cause any blurring.
But, I don't own a Yoga 2 Pro, so I don't know if 1) 1600x900 is an option and 2) if there are any other weird things that happen.
But, the normal blurring that happens because you change from native resolution on an LCD is because...in the end...we can't make half-pixels. You have to use integers.
Apple was smart about this, actually:
    iPhone 3GS: 480x320
    iPhone 4 (first w/ Retina-branding): 960x640
Perfectly double -> no blurring. Made the whole transition a lot smoother.

  • Any perfect audio hardware setup with the new Macbook Pro?

I'm still not sure if to go for the new Macbook Pro 2.8 ghz, or the 6 months earlier 2.5 ghz model (march 2008).
I love to go for the new Macbook Pro, but I'm not sure about my setup. Now I have:
    - extern 7200 rpm bus powered LaCie firewire 800 hard drive
    - Saffire with firewire 400 (thinking about moving to Apogee Duet)
Will the express card really help? I've read that if you connect a firewire 400 device to the express card, the firewire 800 won't work at 800 speed, but at 400? Also that a bus powered hard drive doesn't work, and that it needs it's own power to run with the express card?
    Bottom line:
What would be the perfect audio hardware setup with the new Macbook Pro? I gladly invest in a different audio interface (or anything else) if it really fits and works as pro audio setup!

I've read that if you connect a firewire 400 device to the express card, the firewire 800 won't work at 800 speed, but at 400?
I don't think this is right. As I understand it, the advantage of having one of your devices on an express card slot is specifically so it is on its own bus.
Then both devices will operate on their own speed.
However, this is true for the older model Macbook Pros when you use both FW ports that are built in, because even though the machine has two ports, they each feed one firewire bus. So if you have a device plugged into each port, the one plugged into the 800 will only run at 400 speed because they're both on the same bus. Using an express card means both devices can operate at their own speed.
If you want the newer machine I think you should get it. Then you can buy a firewire 400 express card, plug your interface into that, and plug your FW 800 drive into the main firewire port. This will give you better performance from your peripherals than an older machine with both devices plugged into the built in FW ports.
    Good Luck!

  • What configuration of the new macbook pro do I need to run FCS 3 without choppy playback.

Yep, just wondering what configuration of the new macbook pro do I need to run FCS 3 without choppy playback or lagging.  I'm thinking about the 7200rpm, 2.2ghz, antiglare, 4gb ram, with 1gb GPU graphics card configuration

Nothing wrong with the computer. Playback is dependent on the media and the drives.

What's with the non-existant free trial download for Photoshop?  You click on "Download free trial" and it takes you to a page that takes you to a forum… nothing happens.  I've done this about 6 times on two browsers.  Of course, there's no help from Adobe, so I'm trying this forum.  Thanks!

  • Problems with the (WINDOWS 8 pro -64 BIT) IN THINKPAD L520 - 5016 RL2

I have some problems with the (WINDOWS 8 pro -64 BIT) is not working properly IN THINKPAD L520 - 5016 RL2.
    1. Message appears telling me that the drivers of the display  has been restored crash.
    2. The mouse pointer moves very slowly sometimes, and sometimes does not move for a while.
    3. Device software such as lenovo-airbag protection , lenovo-internet connection and lenovo web connection........ its  is not compatible with the system, and do not work.
    What is the solution؟

    Hi, MUJAHED
I have a few questions for clarification I would like to ask about your first two issues:
    1) Can you copy the contents of this message and respond back with them. Any error codes or direct quotation from the system can really help in diagnosing a problem.
    2) Does this only apply to the TrackPad, or does this behavior also occur with an external mouse? It may help to download the latest mouse drivers for your system, which can be found here.
As for your last issue with the Lenovo service not being compatible with the system: Unfortunately, software for these applications has not been released for Windows 8. Windows has its own network settings that you can use to connect to the Internet and networks, so that is still possible, though you may not enjoy it as much as Lenovo's program.
    Best,
    Adam
