What's wrong with my macbook pro (15" early 2011) when i connect it with TV via hdmi
Hello Alex,
It sounds like you are getting excessive CPU usage when connecting an external display via HDMI to your computer. I would try the troubleshooting steps outlined in the article named:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1573
When using an external display be sure to check the following:
If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. It is always good to have your notebook connected to AC power when an external display is in use.
Confirm display adapters are fully seated in their respective connections and that they are supported models and for the computer and display. Refer to these articles to assist you with adapter compatibility and further configuration information:
Monitor and Display Adapter Table
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
Apple Mini DisplayPort adapters: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
Reset the systemYou can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.Reset the resolutionStart by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
Restart your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,

Problems With Hardware Macbook Pro 13" Early 2011
Dear Mac-Friends,
My product is a Macbook Pro 13" Early 2011, runing a OS X 10.7.5.
Problems I am facing are:
1. Completly crash: with no explanation appears some patches of collored pixels all over the screen and the computer starts making a "Beep" (Then I need to manually re-start the Macbook). Some friends said it look like a "memory pouring".
2. Mac Crash: it appears that black screen saying: "You need to restart your computer, please press the power button).
Both problemas start happening since I recently changed it's ram memory. I took the 2 x 2GB original, replacing for a Kingston 2 x 4GB 1333MHz DDR3, following the instructions in the guide.
So far both problems happen when I am working (maximum time I have worked with no crash was something like 3 hours).
Concerned with my situation I have looked for help in the web and most people say I have to make a Hardware Test. But I am trying really hard to this the Hardware Test (I tried holding "D", holding "Option + D", holding "Alt + D" in many ways that you can imagine, but could not run the Hardware Test, and no problem message was shown).
I have already read the article in Mac Support Community about "Hardware Test" and I tried to install the EFI update for Macbook Pro 13" Early 2011, but says "This software is not compatible with your computer". So weird!
Would anybody help me please?
Thank you very much in advance.
Best to you all!Hey friend.
The software Rember says: It's not compatible with my OSx.

i have a macbook pro 13" early 2011 version and what to install windows 7 on it via bootcamp but not sure that whether to install x64 or x86 version? which one will work better
There is no need for anyone to use 32-bit version anymore.
Retail comes with both. Or you can save on just buying 64-bit System Builder disc.
Better support for today's hardware with larger video graphic memory and systems.
Better memory management. -
SSD-problem with MacBook Pro 13" (Early 2011)
Hi there,
I've tried to use two different SSDs in my MacBook Pro 13" (early 2011). The first one (Samsung 840 Series, 500GB) crashed after two days: the beachball appeared and after a restart there was this question mark-symbol on my screen: no system found. Had to send this SSD back to Amazon. A few days later I've bought a new one, a SanDisk Extreme with 450GB. I've used it for two days, then my system crashed again and after a restart of my Mac I couldn't get any further than to the grey apple-symbol. Even the recovery partition didn't work anymore. Does anyone of you have the same problem with his (or her) MacBook Pro 13" (early 2011) - and any ideas for a solution?
Thanks for your answers!

My MacBook Pro 17" early 2011(built March) and my new OCZ sata III 6G are not working together, when is Apple going to admit there is a problem with the Intel's 6 Series Chipset. In System Information it says "Link Speed: 6 Gigabit" which is sata III and in my MacBook Pro it does not work.
Now MacBook Pro 17" early 2011 built May onward do not have this problem it was fixed in the Intel's 6 Series Chipset. (So there is a problem). Cam I have my MacBook Pro fixed please. After biting the bullet and ordering more RAM, my computer now is working a ton better. So that must have been the main issue. With 8 GB RAM, I can now even run Parallels fluidly (better than my work PC!) where before simple things like logging in to my MBP after reboot could take forever.
The place I went to had several other people getting RAM upgrades at the same time as me, so between this and other comments I've seen in discussions here and elsewhere on the Internets, I take it to mean that either Apple should bump up the base RAM on its new machines, and/or stop charging so much for additional RAM.
I refused to believe a Pro machine bought with Lion installed would come with too little RAM for light to medium usage, but it was apparently the case. I'll mark this as a correct answer and hope some other poor soul will come across this thread and be helped by it. -
I bought my macbook pro on August 2011 at an apple store, with the Intel i7. However mirrorring in not working with two of my Apple TVs. These Apple TVs are 2nd and 3rd generation loaded with the latest software. I can succesfully transmit from my itunes on my Macbook pro to both Apple TVs, but I can not see the airplay icon on the taskbar. Can someone help?
About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

I have a problem with using MacBook Pro as wifi router when connected to ethernet
I have a problem with using MacBook Pro as wifi router when connected to ethernet. The Airport icon changes to show a laptop inside, my iPad shows connected (I think) but Safari will not operate. I tried pinging my iPad, it seems to see the iPad, but no connection to Safari or to other apps such as Good on the iPad. I have read many posting and tried repeatedly via Sharing in Systems Preferences, but no luck. Suggestions to fix, or is this a Lion problem?
Usually this is a problem related to the domain name server address. If you open Network preferences, select your Ethernet port then click on the Advanced button then on the DNS tab. You will likely see an entry like 10.0.1.1 already listed. Click on the Add [-] button and enter 208.67.222.222 then click on the OK button and then on the Apply button. See if this helps.
if it does not help then repeat the above but with the Airport port. -
i want to upgrade the ram on my macbook pro 13inch (early 2011). i found an 8Gb (4Gb x2) PNY "mac compatible" that is DDR3 PC3-10666 but my macbook is a PC3-10600. Do i need to use a ram with the exact specifications that my macbook lists? Or will the ram i am trying to buy work fine?
Yes that is your best bet. Without looking at it too closely double check your options here:

Ever since I received my Macbook Pro in July 2011 I've had issues with my wireless connection at home. After software updates, Apple support suggested I reboot my router which works. But now I have to do it every other day. ???? AT&T my DSL carrier suggests I get a new router. Apparently the one I have is really old and doesn't support my Macbook Pro. Does this sound right?
If your using WEP encryption yes, Apple has discontinued that becaues it's worthless. WEP (and WPA) is cracked so encryption makes no sense.
Get a new Wireless N router, set it up with WPA2 (AES) Personal and two different 20+ randon letter/numbersymbol character passwords
One for Admin access only of the router, keep this on paper off all comptuers in a safe someplace.
One for entering into devices, computers etc for Internet Access Only.
You need the long and random password to defeat brute force attacks by GPU software that the hackers have now.
Also if you give out the password to another, they can't hack the network with the guest access password.
Computers remember the internet password, so anyone with access to your machines or network will have the password.
Since you have another Admin only password, they can't hack in. got it?
You don't need "Invisible" or "MAC Address filtering" that's a waste of time as hackers can sniff a network and causes issues getting on the network.
Good luck. -
I have a MacBook Pro 13 early 2011. I can't use Gmail because it says my version of Safari (5.1.7 (7534.57.7) is not compatible. What can I do?
Niel, I found a way to download Safari 6.1.6 but it failed because the installer couldn't create the folder '/var/folders/lg/pqypcsnn715btrs106b9crpr0000gn/T//Install.3334NgcMxu"

I am looking at a MacBook pro 17 early 2011 with water damage that doesn't turn on. Now t would have a voided warranty wondered if anyone knew how much apple would charge to fix. If its worth fixing?
It mostly depends on the damage that was done (the LCD, keyboard, etc) but yours does not turn on so I am assuming it was fully submerged and completely damaged. Therefore, I would think your warranty is most definitely void.
When did this happen? How bad was it? Have you taken any measures to get it to dry? You can go online and you can find tips on how to dry it at least a bit so that it is not as bad, it might not get it to work, but it can help you prevent rusting, which would cause further damage thus reducing the probability of getting repaired/replaced. Also, do not try to turn it on unless you have tried to dry it as it will damage it even more (electricity + water = destruction). I would suggest giving this a try, and if it is still not working then it is probably worth a try with Apple, just go in for a consultation in terms of pricing. If they seem too high and/or the warranty is void, then you can opt for after-market products which significantly reduce the repair costs... as you would have nothing to lose anyway in terms of warranty.
It's $3,000, that pays my rent. Even investing $1,000 would be better than just not giving it a try at all lol. -
I'm planning to buy a Thunderbolt display for my macbook pro 13" early 2011,
I want to know if after connect the laptop to the screen, will show in 2560x1440 resolution
Thanks for your help!Specs say:
External Resolution
Up to 2560 by 1600 pixels -
So my "MacBook Pro 13" Early 2011" backlight keyboard hasn't been working. I have tried LabTick today, doesn't fix anything. Even in high or low lighting situations (dispite the Adjust keyboard brightness in low light being off) doesn't like to go on. It doesn't give me a circle with a cross like it does with that box checked in day light. It shows on the screen the
16 dots fully light after hitting F6 fully, just it doesn't light up. I one time had to reset my Mac OS at the Apple Store, it fixed the problem, but when I restored with a time machine backup, it went back to this software problem. How can I fix this?! What is wrong with my OS? Mountain Lion? How can I fix this?!If it does not detect the display automatically, try going to system preferences>displays, click detect displays.

Hello All,
I have a 15" i7 Macbook Pro from early 2011. The past few weeks, it has been getting increasingly difficult to get on my computer. It takes the mac laptop two or three tries to boot successfully. It would turn on, show gray screen, shut down, turn on again, show gray screen, shutdown, and then turn on, show gray screen, before it can finally get to the dark gray log-in screen. Even when I finally get logged in to start working, thinking it would be okay now, it shuts down randomly.
I've ruled out the possibility of a software problem because I've just done a clean re-install of Mac OS X Mavericks on my computer just yesterday.
I did upgrade the RAM recently, about a month and a half ago, from 4GB to 16GB, I went to the apple store four days after that upgrade to have them do a hardware test, and clean the inside of my laptop, which helped with previous heat issues. When they did the hardware test, the hardware was all registered as fine from their system.
I've tried resetting the SMC, PRAM, and doing the internet recovery hardware test, but to no avail. I thought I could at least find out what parts needed to be replaced from the hardware test but it seems that when the hardware test is almost finished, the computer just shuts down, So I am unable to see the results.
My computer is also having battery issues, under battery condition, it says "replace now," parts have been ordered, waiting for arrival. But if the battery health is low, it should still boot up fine, it would just hold a significantly less charge.
Could this be a hard drive issue?
Has anyone had similar symptoms and how was it resolved?
Does anyone know what I can do to alleviate this issue?
I haven't had time to take it to Apple because I'm currently taking a 21 credit semester academically. I'm an art and design student so my computer is basically the bane of my existence. Help! Any constructive advice is welcomed!
Thank you so much for your input!

MacBook Pro 13" Early 2011 - External display issues
I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro 13" (2.7GHz version) that I am using with an external non-Apple display. I am having issues when MBP goes to sleep or trys to sleep the display. The external display exibits one of a number of problems: goes dark but does not power off the backlight or freezes up and requires being powered off then back on. My display is an ASUS VW266H but it seems like this problem, or other similar problems, are happening with other non-Apple displays.
In calling Apple tech support of 5/27/11 they indicated that this is a known bug and they are working on a fix. There was software update released 5/4/11 to "improve graphics stability, address issues with external display" named MacBook Pro Software Update 1.4 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1382). I downloaded this and applied it but it made no difference.
I experienced these problems with three different video adapters: Apple's own mini DP to DVI, Belkin mini DP to HDMI and another brand of mini DP to HDMI also sold by the Apple store.
So the questions are:
1) Will Apple release another updated to address this incompatability or are they done with the issue given that they released the update mentioned above?
2) Has anyone compiled a list of monitors that are know to work with these most recent MacBook Pros (the early 2011 versions with the Thunderbolt/mini DP combined ports)?
If you have used the MacBook Pro 13" early 2011 with an external monitor please respond to this post with your experiences so we can all know what works. With my new 2011 13" MBP I'm having no latency issues using my '08 Samsung SyncMaster 2253BW DVI (digital) monitor. Sleep function awakens fine, goes to sleep 3-4 sec.
I'm using a cheapie model Syba MDP to DVI connector; here on Amazon:

I bought 2 in case one craps out on me...knock on wood. Good luck hope you find a solution.

Hello all - I'm brand new to the forums and relatively new to Frame, but I've been a tech writer for 10 years. I added a Chapter to a book, and it won't show up in my ToC. I did not set up the original ToC, so I'm not sure why it sees the other Chap

JAX-WS proxy and WS-ReliableMessaging
Hello all, JDeveloper 11.1.2.3 I've started the foray into looking at reliable web services as specified by WS-ReliableMessaging. I have a very simple Hello World web service deployed (it was written in C# and deployed on IIS, if you have to ask :P).
