What setting to keep toolbar and layers etc palettes on top in CS6 ?
Hi,
When I move my images about in CS6 they cover up the toolbars at left and palettes at right.
Completely useless as you then cannot perform any operations.
This was not the case with CS2.
I expect to find a setting toolbars on top or similar in edit preferences interface but see nothing.
Where is the setting ?
Someone in the development team has goofed bigtime otherwise.
Default should be tools on top.
Without this CS6 is a nightmare.

Station_Two simply imagine my floating images covering over the toolbar at left and the palettes or whatever they are called down the right hand side.
I have my images so that I can move them about on screen like moving playing cards around on a table.
I have just tried window reset, made no difference.
I have always preferred to work with my images as floating windows, sometimes tiled, but never as tabs, been with Pshop for 20 years, never ever had this happening before.
I shove them around and was always able to shove them half off screen, even almost totally off screen for those I feel are less of use.
I am convinced the developers have messed up, I just cant move my images about on screen as you would with photo prints on a table anymore.
Why do this, here is one example... imagine I have taken photos of a vehicle, various parts of it, so the part top right I wish to place top right, another similar shot I will place again up with that one, a shot lower left I will place lower left, another I dont think is of use pending what else I find I will place lower screen, another of the left I move off screen to left, with my overall shot of the vehicle in the middle, I open a few more from a different source and again place them about the screen, to see what coverage I have. Ranking their use by how far I place them out from middle.
I want to look at more than one at the same time, to compare pics, such a need is common.
Tabbed images are no use to me, never use tabs., having them as tabs only shows one at a time, so memorising a photo is required, you cant compare by memorising.

I just bought a Dell Precision M3800 laptop - screen res 3840 x 2160 when I open photoshop the task bar and tools and layers etc are in 4pts size I changed my % in my image in my control panel and if I go to open file the drop down boxes are in good pt sizes how do I make the layers and tool bars bigger? Windows will scale applications display or windows will not scale application display depending on how the application is coded. Photoshop is coded in a way that its display is not scaled by windows. Photoshop knows about your displays high pixel count not its resolution so it uses its pixels however it does not scale its UI to make it usable on your display. Other application let Windows scale their display output. For example Microsoft default for is Surface Pro 3, 216 ppi display is to scale applications display up 150% so the surface pro 3 display which has 2160x1440 pixels a 216 ppi resolution look like at display with the user is using with 1440x960 pixels. The Application works like the display is 1440x960 and Windows scale those pixels to the displays using the displays 2160x1440 pixels the effectively changing it resolution to 144ppi rather than the actual 216ppi.
The reg update and external manifest file effectively tells photoshop its working on such a size display display some number of pixel wide and some number photoshop uses that as the display size in turn Windows scale those pixels to use the displays 2160x1440 pixels efector lowing its 216ppi resolution. Photoshop CC 2014 2X UI would be like using windows 200% option applications would be shown the are working on a display 1080x720 instead of the Surface Pro 3 2160x1440. Note that 1080x720 does not meet PS requirement of 1024x768. Photoshop UI would not fit on the Surface Pro 3 display..
Since you have a 4k display if you have CC 2014 you can use its 2x UI effectively Photoshop will be running on a 1920x1080 display and have half the resolution of you 4K display 3840x2160 pixels four native pixels are use as a single pixel. 1920x1080 pixels exceed PS requirement. -
What are the various toolbars and how do I restore a missing one?
The toolbar (I THINK it's a toolbar) that usually appears at the top of my Safari page has disappeared. It's the one that offers new windows, etc. I don't know what it's called or how to get it back -- or why it disappeared in the first place. I know someone can help and I thank you in advance.
Click "View"menu in the Safari menubar and select "Show Toolbar".
or
Click "View" menu in the Safari menu bar and click "Customize Toolbar".
From the drop down drag the default set into the Toolbar.

How to keep toolbar in Photoshop CS5 always on top
I have just upgraded to CS5 from CS3. In CS5, when I move an open document around on screen it covers over the toolbar, but only if the toolbar is docked to the side of window. It will also cover the property bar and menu bar at the top of the interface. The palettes on the r/h side always stay on top if not docked to the edge of the window, but if docked they too get covered over. In CS3 all the interface items stayed on top. Is there any way to make sure they is always on top when docked (I prefer not to have them free floating)?
I'm using Vista Ultimate. My monitor is a Dell 24" Ultrasharp running at native 1920x1200 res.Thanks for the suggestion. Turning OpenGL off makes no difference, and with it turned on I have also tried the three different quality settings, none of which made any difference either.
I've also just tried with CS5 in a window, rather than fully maximised, and like that I can actually drag an open image right outside the Photoshop interface!

Also in the tool box.....print is at the bottom ad so small have to chnge glasses to read or get magifying glass......
Elements 13 provide high DPI support. Please increase the size of font size(DPI) on your machine and relaunch Elements. Steps to do so:

Does the orange box say "Firefox"? Click that button to access a combined set of menus. Or, to restore the classic menus, tap the Alt key and choose
View menu > Toolbars > Menu Bar
That same menu area lets you show or hide your other toolbars.
Can you get it back to the way you want? -
What is the lock symbol and circular arrow on the top of my iPad and how do you get rid of it?

Lock symbol is rotation lock : depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can lock rotation either by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon; press home again to exit the taskbar. This occurs at least 4 or 5 times a day. I can do nothing when this happens. I don't know if this is a Firefox or Vista problem. I click on a link and it does not go but just sits there saying connecting.

I didn't change any settings and the toolbar began hiding. There's now no bookmarked tab. Searched through help on-line and it said to right click on tab and it would give a pop up menu to change settings, but I tried that and it only gives option to close tabs etc.
If the top bars slide up and out of sight, but reappear when you move your mouse pointer to the top of the screen, you might be in full screen mode. Press the F11 key to switch between full screen and normal modes.

Iphoto is deleting photos off my camera card and phone etc. after I am downloading them onto my mac. After the photos are downloaded it asks if I want to keep them or delete them and even though Im saying that I want to keep them!. Any ideas?

I was in the middle of the iOS 8 update and tried to turn my phone off (yes, I realize this was dumb) But what happened was it tried to reset. Now, my iphone 4s has the connect to itunes screen. I have tried to reset, recover, etc but I keep getting and error -51 message. Any ideas how I can get my phone working again? I am not worried about saving any info just having a phone to use!
Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds. Ignore the swipe to turn off message. -
evertime i open a secondary window in an application it opens on my laptop and I working on the application on my thunderbolt. what setting do i use to open the secondary window on the thunderbolt?

I just set up my Iphone and after doing so set up Icloud. Now I don't have any contacts in my Iphone. What happened to them?
If you just set up your iPhone, where did the contacts on your iPhone come from?
When you manually turned contacts on for over the air syncing with your iCloud account, if the Contacts app had any contacts you should have been provided a merge, replace, or keep prompt. -
My ipad does not communicate with my iphone on one of my email accounts and will not remove deleted emails that are done on the iphone and vice versa, what setting needs to be changed?
It's my understanding that an iPhone can only sync with one computer. You need to choose one computer. Sounds like it syncs at work, but not at home. If you want to just sync it at home, then you have to make sure the home computer has all the info that you want on it, like music etc. Then you have to deauthorize the work computer for it to sync at home. When you connect it will ask if you want to set up as a new iPhone or restore from backup. If you don't have a backup on the home computer then either way you will be wiped clean. So any photos, contacts, notes etc you have will be erased. You would need to backup or copy your photos from your iPhone. When you connect it to your home computer, it will give you that popup message to open your iPhone files. Then you can copy those photos and save them onto your computer and sync them back in through iTunes.
For your contacts, do you use any type of address book? If so you'll want to back that up and then transfer to your home computer. For notes, you can just email those to yourself and then save that email. I use MobileMe so the contacts issue is easily resolved.
