What situation would make the dbms_scheduler to delay the execution of jobs

Hello all,
Env: 10.2.0.3
I have a couple of jobs scheduled in DBMS_SCHEDULER to run at 6:00 AM everyday and it used to run at 6:00.
But today instead of 6:00 they ran at 13:00. Next_run_time for jobs are at 6:00AM tomorrow. I checked the log files and but did not hit on anything.
What are the situations that would hinder the scheduler from running jobs
1] If DB is down, scheduler will start jobs once the db is up. [ But in my case DB was up at that time]
2]
Are there any other situation that would make the scheduler wait?
TIA,
J J

Hi,
job_queue_processes is 64
MAX_JOB_SLAVE_PROCESSES is NULL  and
sessions parameter is 665. The total sessions has never gone above 150.
There were no jobs running in dba_scheduler_running_jobs.
It so happened yesterday, one of the job scheduled in dbms_scheduler to run at 10:00AM didn't run. Then we manually ran it at around 11:00, though it was successful the last_start_date and next_run_date in the dba_scheduler_jobs didn't change.
select job_name,job_type,start_date,repeat_interval,state,max_runs,failure_count,to_char(last_start_date,'dd-mm-yy hh24:mi:ss') last_start,to_char(next_run_date,'dd-mm-yy hh24:mi:ss') next_start,event_condition,job_priority,comments
from dba_scheduler_jobs where job_name='OFAC'

Then the scheduler itself ran this job at 13:09 and the dates were changed.

In bdump i can see a log file shcn01_cjq0_2217.trc, which is always being populated with
jsksGetCurWindowId:1 got error 27468
jsksGetCurWindowId:1 got error 27468

Also the ora_cjq0_SHCN01 process is always in the top 3 (since 4 days) in o/p of top command on both nodes.
Any reason for this behavior ?

  • What specs would make the perfect MacBook Air for college?

I've decided I'm going to get a MacBook Air for college, but I want to make sure it's the best possible for my four years as an undergraduate so I don't have to get a new one over this time period.
For the processor: how much of a speed difference will there be between the i5 and i7? I'm thinking the i7 will be a better choice, but I really don't know what the difference will be.
For RAM: 4gb should be plenty for four years, right? Right now I have a late 2008 aluminum MacBook with only 2gb of RAM and only recently did I notice it to start getting slow.
Storage: My biggest concern. Will 256gb last me four years? I will be bringing an external hard drive, but I plan on only really using that for Time Machine backups and storage for photos. Should I make the jump to 512gb?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

The $100 upgrade from 4GB to 8GB (personally) I think is a total no brainer. RAM is one of those things that you can never have enough of and whatever decision you make at time of purchase is the one you're stuck with for the life of the machine. I can't tell you how many times I've had a user with the 2GB model from the previous generation complain of sluggish performance over a lack of available RAM. If it was hundreds of dollars I could see but it's not, especially when you factor in the cost of the machine. Over the course of three years the RAM upgrade translates into $2.78/month and you'd be "future proofing" yourself.
As with previous generations, Apple only lets you upgrade from 256GB to 512GB if you buy the higher end model. Which means you're looking at $1999 for the 13" model with 512GB (4GB of RAM) and $1899 for the 11" model (4GB of RAM). Absolutely not worth it, unless you absolutely have to have 300-400GB of data available locally.
I came into the conversation to clear up wrong information. If there's one thing I've learned in my time posting, more points doesn't mean good information. The OP, who's new, had a question about buying decisions and was given bad information. You've never corrected someone when they wrong? Doubt it...
Regrettably, because this an open discussion forum, we're all free to respond to whoever and whenever. It's very possible that the OP may not know the technical differences between the various CPUs and thus would base his purchasing decision on your false information. Imagine his surprise when he's told that his i7 CPU is a dual core and not a quad core.
Seeing you've asked (so eloquently I might add), I'm happy to provide information on the CPUs.
The i5 in the 13" MacBook Air is an i5-3337U, the i7 is an i7-3667U. Both machines when benchmarked against one another in a PassMark CPU test scored as followed:
    i5 - 2,652
    i7 - 2,841
A difference of 189 points. You're a numbers guy, Kappy. So if real estate property #1 is worth $2,652,000 and real estate property #2 is worth 2,841,000 how much more is that property worth? It's sure not 25%.
My apologies to the OP for the divergent of your topic, but I think it's important when a frequent poster who's opinion is highly regarded but (other) members on here to be corrected when bad information is provided. I know I would expect the same correction if I recommended something incorrectly.

  • Re: How I would make the Toshiba AC100 successful

    Hi All,
I post my ideas for improvements here, maybe someone from Toshiba reads this.
The original blog post is here:
    http://soltesza.wordpress.com/2011/05/09/how-i-would-make-the-toshiba-ac100-successful/
Please feel free to contribute here or at the blog post.
The AC100 is an early attempt from Toshiba to create an ARM based netbook (a smartbook) with Nvidia's successful Tegra2 chipset.
Although, the AC100 looks like proper hardware design, it became only
mildly successful. Some of the reasons may have to do with the primary
operating system, Android ([see my earlier article about this|http://soltesza.wordpress.com/2010/06/27/toshiba-a100-smartbook-with-android-but-why/]) but even more can be attributed to the design decisions Toshiba made.
Since these machines are now available in my home country (Hungary)
at quite attractive price points (~$250 USD, some people seem to be
trying to get rid of it soon after purchase) I can't help bumping into
it all the time. Sinc[View post|http://soltesza.wordpress.com/2011/05/09/2011/05/09/how-i-would-make-the-toshiba-ac100-successful/]e
I am a gadget fan, I always have my hand trembling seeing those prices
and I need to cool myself down before doing some impulse-buy I regret
    later.
What could make me click on the "Buy" button?
    *More memory*
First of all, 1-2GB of RAM instead of the measly 512MB the AC100
hosts. Why the heck tried Toshiba sell a netbook with 512MB of RAM when
ALL of the Atom N450 netbooks seemed to come with 2 GB at that time?
This amount of RAM would allow to slap Ubuntu onto the machine and not
worry about running out of memory when loading up OpenOffice. Ubuntu has
been demonstrated on the AC100 and even looks snappy. (see this [site dedicated to Ubuntu on the AC100|http://tosh-ac100.wetpaint.com/]). Toshiba could easily put 2GB of RAM into the machine without major cost-increase.
    *Desktop OS and/or Android*
Putting 1-2GB of RAM into the AC100 would open the gate for using a
proper, netbook-oriented desktop OS which can take advantage of the
form-factor. They should use Ubuntu, since that could be fixed up on
this hardware in no time (especially if they purchase some consultancy
    from Canonical).
I don't think that Android needs to stay on the machine but if
Toshiba still thinks it is such a good idea for any user-group, they
could make the AC100 dual-boot, or even better, run both OSes in
parallel (2GB of RAM would make this absolutely possible). Android would
be the light-and-easy OS on the device but the user could any time
switch to a full Ubuntu desktop with an Android launcher icon and start
using OpenOffice or other decent desktop software. The
paravirtualization developed by B-labs would be an [instant solution |http://armdevices.net/2011/04/04/android-virtualization-on-ti-omap4-processors-dual-core-cortex-a9/]for this problem and would future proof the machine for a possible Windows8 scenario later.
    *More battery*
The 8 hour runtime of the AC100 is decent enough but more
battery-time is always welcome. The enclosure has a LOT of free/empty
space under the keyboard due to the ultra-compact nature of Tegra2 and
its supporting circuitry. Toshiba should again take advantage of the
form-factor and add one or more extra battery docking bays under the
keyboard which could extend the runtime to 16-24 hours. (Admittedly,
they would make the unit weight much more but since these batteries
would be optional, this decision would be up to the user. A 24-hour
runtime with a 3-battery arrangement would make the AC100 extremely
appealing for a large-set of users. It would be acceptable that the
batteries are charged in series (so the recharge process is lengthier)
so that Toshiba doesn't have to switch to a more expensive power supply.
(Although the power supply issue is probably not a serious cost
    factor).
    *What else*
Of course, there would be a lot of things to be improved (more USB
ports, higher-resolution display...etc) but I tried to draw up things
which require smaller redesign so that an improved version could be
    implemented faster.
I believe the AC100 line could be made really successful and Toshiba should take steps to make this happen.

    hi there,
I'm new here and I need support from someone...
I buy notebook toshiba ac100 3 weeks before and I suffer major problem...
something happened with my screen , I press the power button and notebook is running /I can tell from turning on play-multimedia button for music and it plays music/ but the screen is not running !
I try many many things, like only on A/C , only on battery , pushing button for switch between screen and ext.monitor , but unfortunately - the screen was still black !
so I connect to flat tv with HDMI cable, and there you go - i have the screen ot the TV , but only there !
my question is this is problem with the screen or something I do wrong ?!
    thank you in advance.
    regards.

    Mina,
You can use LiveCycle Designer's Action Builder to easily achieve this.
Please go through online documentation for the specific version of LiveCycle Designer that you are using.
It is intuitive and very easy to use Action Builder (You will find this option under Tools Menu item of Designer).

    Make a matte in Photoshop.
From the Photoshop menu bar: File > New > Film & Video Presets. Choose one that suits your FCP project pixel dimensions. Make the background black. Place a white rectangle with rounded corners on top (the white will determine how much of your picture is visible). Flatten Image. Save as TIFF. Import into FCP.
Move your video clips up to V2. Place the imported TIFF on V1. Highlight all clips on V2.
Go to Modify > Composite Mode > Travel Matte Luma. Done.
If you want soft edges, no need for a matte. Double click your clip to place it in the Viewer. Open up the Motion tab > Crop > Edge Feather. Nice and quick. Copy and Paste attributes for the other clips.

  • This Simple Change would Make the Usage Widget Actually Useful

The usage meter widget on my Galaxy S4 tells me how much data I've used but it doesn't tell me as of when, which makes it not very useful.
If my meter looks like this on day 3 of my cycle then I have a problem. If it's on day 28, no problem! Stream videos all day!
What we need is a quick indicator of where we are in the cycle. Maybe you all know when your cycle starts and ends but I sure don't, not without checking my account. Here's an easy change that would make this widget one of the most useful:
VOILA! Now I know at a glance that my cycle is 3/4 over but I've only used about half my data.
REPLY BACK AND HELP US HELP VERIZON MAKE A BETTER WIDGET!!!!

Thanks for the feedback. Some points in return:
--I take the point that many people may have memorized their cycle date or for other reasons may not find the change I'm recommending to be useful. So consider the words "to me" added to the title of the post.
--Re notes about the execution of the change, I threw those images up after about 20 seconds in Photoshop as an example of what I'm saying. Obviously one would fully develop the look and functionality and then beta, etc.
--Those caveats aside, here's my basic point: Widgets are meant to save steps, providing the most information in the clearest way at a glance. Sure you could memorize your cycle date then figure out how far you are away from it and decide if your data usage is under, on track or over. A widget that saves steps by providing that information at a glance is, by definition, a better widget.
OK folks, I'm going to back to do actual work now!

  • Hi, i cloud is soooo stupid!! I did everything apple suggest so I can back up my contacts and everything and no matter what i would do, the icloud will not save all my contacts just cause icloud wanted.

How in earth can recover my contacts??? I have done everything to back up my contacts on icloud before I updated my iphone to ios 7 and when I actually used icloud to bring my lost contacts on my iphone, icloud decided to seperate my contacts and off the 743 contacts i had to just give me only 432 back on my phone. How can this happen??? It is only rediculous from apple to do this to their costumers. I triple checked everything before do any movements and icloud brought me back some of my contacts and notes, Then when I actually tried to do it again it decided to just erase some of them without any reason. Why in earth will you put on 743 contacts on icloud and then gives you only 432 back?? And why after it gives you its favorite contacts back then make the rest of them disappear??? I swear I did not touched anything or did something to it. I was very very careful!!! I ****** off, and I am sorry to react like that, but if it was my mistake I would have just remain silent. And itunes 11 doesn't save any contacts its just refuses!! I am saddd and maddd, cause I loved apple and i buy everything from apple. Disappointed!

Only contacts in the "iCloud" group are synced to icloud, not those in the "On my iPhone" or "On my Mac", etc.

  • What computer manufacturer makes the most "linux friendly" laptops?

    Hi,
I'm about to get a new laptop to replace my Dell E1505 I used untill now. i'm very happy with it, but it got old and starts to fail. I want to get a new laptop that's simular to it but new and more up to date. I looked at some of the computers avaliable and was thinking, which manufacturer makes the most linux friendly computers? Should I stick with dell or maybe HP is the better choice? What's your experiance on the subject?

From what I've seen, major manufacturers give little-to-no concern towards Linux support when designing a product.  Should they have a string of products which work hassle-free, it is through coincidence alone.
To take Lenovo as an example, many of their notebooks in the past have included a wireless card they referred to as a "ThinkPad wireless adapter", which was renowned for functioning 'out of the box' with the ath5k driver.  During the middle(?) of last year, and without indication, the "ThinkPad wireless adapters" changed, and now use an rtl8192se chipset.  ndiswrapper has limited success (if any); a functional driver has only recently been created for this chipset; and support still missing from the kernel.
While my next laptop will probably be a Lenovo it will be for their build-quality and not their Linux support.  When looking for a laptop, I recommend finding something which matches your specifications, design and price and then thoroughly checking compatibility of the components: it's the only way to be sure.

  • What would make the webcam, usb and fingerprint reader quit working?

    On DV7 6c95dx

    Hi jeffriespc,
Thank you for your inquiry, I will be glad to assist you!
I understand that the USB ports,Webcam and Fingerprint reader have stopped working. Have you tried running  The HP Support Assistant to look for updated drivers and help resolve issues.  Do you have all your Windows updates done?
You can check for hardware failures by running diagnostics. Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7, Vista).
If this has not resolved your issue, you can do either a restore back to a known good date or a recovery.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)
Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)
If you decide to do the recovery, you will get a prompt to backup your personal files. if you have not done one, I suggest you do it now to prevent data loss. Here is a document to assist you with restoring them.
Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7)
Please let me know the results.

  • I turned on the passcode lock to come on in 1 hour.  It doesn't seem to be working.  I thought that this would make the Ipad 2 IOS 7 require me to type in a code after 1 hour.  Is my thinking not right on this?

As stated I turned on my passcode lock to come on after 1 hour of operation.  It doesn't work like I thought it would.  My thoughts were that it would go to the lock screen and then require a code.  Is my thinking not right on this?  What am i doing wrong?

The passcode will be requested after the device has been in sleep mode for one hour.  It does not turn off the device, nor is it a usage timer.

  • Where do I enter data that would make the website relevant during search

Guys and Gals where in this code do I add meta data information that would help my search engine results and I know some may not find this information important but to me it is. I know some thing that it's pointless but I would like to know for referrence either way. Thank you

Hey, just put it somewhere between your <head> and </head> tags.
    Example follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

    <meta name="iWeb-Build" content="local-build-20080316" />
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=700" />
    <title>Video Game reviews</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen,print" href="Gamereviews_files/Gamereviews.css" />
There is a great application what can do it all for you. Remember - everytime you do a change on a page in iWeb, and you publish the site, your custom Meta Tags get deleted!
The application is called iMap. It costs only few dollars (I think like $8 or 10) and works for me.

When you went from 5.6 to 5.7,
did it get worse, better, or stay the same?
    Same.
    Is there
a detailed description of the three different
firmwares (i.e. like modified to allow different
    protocols, security, bit rate, etc.)?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303072
    So, there
should be no other loss of functionality if I go all
the way back to 5.5.1 (i.e. are there some products
that need to connect via a later firmware)?
None that I noticed (and I'm using AEBS in a public
library where hundreds of different users are using
    them everyday).
    - It is just so incredulous, that a two-step
down-date would actually be better for us! I guess
anything is possible. There were some real slow and
troublesome OSX betas, and early & significant
differences where OSX beta, OS 9, & Classic all
interacted & lived on the same Mac - so I guess that
maybe these firmwares are written with some "yet
future" technologies in mind, at the expense of the
current ones - who knows - I guess Apple would know
    that, if it's so.
They know: bug report sent on the 8th of september.

  • What do I make the the cd images?

How do I get the cd images from my hard drive to a cd? I tried eassy cd creator but it just errors out. or is the file not an image and I just bur the whole thing to a cd and hunt down some floppies to actually do the install?
If I have to rely on floppies, can I get the URL where they can be found? I didn't see anything so far about them.

Hi it sounds like you are downloading the Solaris 8 binaries for an x86 Intel system. If this is the case you need to do the following to create the cd images if you have not already done so.
Extract the CD images using unzip software. Something such as WinZip or PKZIP will work.
After you have unzipped the files you will have files with the same file name, and the .zip extension will be gone. The files are now CD image files. You can make your installation CD's from these image files.
Now you need to add .iso to the end of the files you unzipped. Once you have done this go to the File Menu in EZ CD-Creator, select Create CD from CD image, and start recording the image files to disc.
There is some good reference material at the following URL:

  • What upgrades would make a MacBook Pro a gaming laptop?

I'm thinking about buying a MacBook Pro, or MacBook Pro with retina display. I am wondering if there are any upgrades that specifically help with gaming?

    nz.jcantrell wrote:
is there anything that I could do to make it better for gaming? I've heard it's ok to game at medium-->high settings?
Again that depends on the specific game, since different games have different requirements. An older game with lower system requirements may be playable at higher quality settings than a newer game with higher system requirements.
    Given a 13" MacBook Pro:
If a game needs more RAM, a RAM upgrade will help.
If a game needs more video RAM, a 13" MacBook Pro running Mavericks 10.9 will dynamically allocate RAM to video from the main system RAM according to this Apple document, and you don't have control over how it does that.
If a game needs a dedicated GPU, that is not available for the 13" MacBook Pro.
