Copy what kind/type of DVDs? For non-copy protected DVDs you can use Disk Utility (in the Applications folder) to make a disk image of the DVD disk and then burn it back to a disk.

Apple don't want you to do that.
The current Apple thinking is that the entire world has access to fast broadband and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that in reality not all users do, has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. That worked for some, but is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple. Also, you can complain bitterly here, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between using iCloud and burning DVDs:

Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or will come with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD. Also, of course, there is Roxio Toast.

i am wondering how you copy dvds and then burn them.
i went on a forum and they suggested mac the ripper. It is all above board dvd's, they are training videos that i have to copy for my boss, nothing illegal.
when i used mac the ripper it put the dvd into a folder (a VIDEO_TS folder ) that i cannot open.
burning them i guess i would use idvd, as i have made dvds myself and burnt with that.
i am sorry if i sound a bit stupid but.....so be it!
so the how do i copy a dvd???

After you get the Video TS folder on your desktop, you simply drag it to Your choice of either DSK Utility , or Toast and put in a blank DVD-R and click burn.
If you are not familiar with DVD Burning it can get confusing in a hurry at first.
To help you out a little.
Standard DVD's are 4.7 gb in size.
Most Data, and Audio is not a problem.
Most people run into there problem when trying to copy a commercially made DVD that may have 6 or 7 GB on it. Thus it will not fit on a Standard 4.7GB DVD.
Here is where you need a top of the line software to accomplish this task.
Roxio's Toast 7, or Popcorn.
What it does is read the Video TS folders size and content and then it automatically compresses the content to fit on a 4.7 GB DVD.
All of this is done with a couple of clicks of the mouse.
Using Apple's software to copy is fine through the Disc Utility for Audio, and Data, and some Video, Take note that Apples furnished software is entry level and there are only certain things it is capable of.

VLC is a good choice. While I don't know if it will play your files, Perian is a helper app for Quicktime which allows you to play a lot of things in the Quicktime Player.
There is also Flip4Mac which allows you to play windows media files in Quicktime.
Finally, note that the extension on a video file doesn't really tell you what you need to play it. The .avi, .mpg, etc. is only the wrapper around the actual video. The video is encoded by some means and needs to be decoded. The video inside the .avi can be encoded in one of many different schemes.
VLC, Perian, Flip4Mac, and many others, are all able to decode various flavors of encoding. Having all of those in your toolbox will help to allow you to play most of the things you'll find.

Check if PDF document has renderable text. Go to Tools -> Text Recognition -> In This File.
Then you should be able to copy the text from PDF.

That's a nice Pioneer DVD±RW drive - and an upgraded replacement for the original optical drive that shipped with that G5. For a finished look, you'd want to install it in an external enclosure for 5.25" IDE/ATAPI drives that converts it to USB connectivity. Because SATA optical drives have replaced ATAPI drives in recent years, the selection is getting more limited for a new enclosure, although used ones can undoubtedly be found at ebay. Here's an example of one, although it only features USB connectivity. You can also find enclosures that have both FireWire and USB connectivity, which for Mac users is beneficial. Booting the computer (if needed) by a FireWire-connected device is generally more reliable than USB booting. If this isn't important to you, then a USB-only enclosure would be adequate. The enclosure will have directions, but essentially all you need to do is plug in the power cable and data ribbon cable and then secure the drive to the bottom plate of the enclosure with the included machine screws.

I'm new to BO so to start from scratch I'm trying to figure out what desktop Software I have to put on my workstation to unleash the full power of BO, work with our BO server and get the SAP Best Practice for BI up and running. I downloaded the following stuff from service.sap.com:
- Xcelsius 2008
- Crystal Reports 2008
- BO XI 3.1 Edge
I kind figured these would be the most recent releases.
I first installed Xcelsius, then Crystal Reports. When installing BO XI 3.1 it gave me an error that it can't be installed with Crystal Reports already there. So I uninstalled Crystal Reports 2008 and installed BO XI 3.1 . The SAP Best Practice BI scenario comes with a lot of .rpt files which are Crystal Report Project files as of my knowledge. But I can't install Crystal Reports anymore. I guess because of BO XI 3.1
So I wonder what software I actually need. I haven't found any source that clearly states what applications to install for what reason and in what version. It would be really great if someone could bring some light into this!

You can install a Virtual station software like VMWare and stuff like that.
After installing VMWare please allocate some space for this and then install the OS with that then you can install the Crystal reports.
Where you can use the Crystal reports and BO at the same machine.

To start off with, you will need to download iTunes. Make sure that you download the correct version, Windows, and if you have 32-bit or 64-bit. Pictures taken with the iPhone are imported to the computer via Scanner and Camera Wizard in Windows, or can also be copied via Windows Explorer in Computer. Photos are then synced to the computer via iTunes by selecting a folder on the computer that contains photos and they are copied to the computer.
Calendar has to be handled by a supported application. That can be Outlook 2003 or 2007. Other choices include using Google calendar, MobileMe,etc. The latter allow for OTA syncing of calendar. Contacts require a supported application as well, those include Outlook 2003 or 2007, or Windows Address book in Vista, or Windows Mail in Windows 7. You also have the option as above for Google or MobileMe.
Information about what you might want to use is found on the Apple website and descibes the supported applications.

I'm planning to do the $143.88 subscription for PLUS on FormsCentral. I will be creating probably no more than 15 forms per year. I will need to create forms, maintain them, do reports and gather data on membership information, registration of events/conferences and simple surveys. What software do I need to purchasein addition to my yearly subscription on FormsCentral? Adobe Acrobat X? Adobe FormsCentral? I'm not getting a clear picture on what is necessary as I read through the site. I may need to have access to maintain the forms on both my laptop and my desktop.

You don't need anything in addition to the subscription to FormsCentral. If you want to distribute your forms as PDF as well as (or instead of) on the web you might want Adobe Acrobat XI so you can further edit the PDFs, but that is not necessary and is really up to your needs.
If you were to consider Acrobat you should look at this subscription "Acrobat Plus" which gives you Adobe Acrobat XI on a subscription basis plus some great online services including FormsCentral: https://www.acrobat.com/acrobatplus/en/home.html
When you use FormsCentral in a web browser you can access it from any computer or laptop and have access to all the same data, one of the great things about a SAAS (software as a service). The one exception to that is in the Acrobat Plus subscription you get the desktop application of Acrobat to install which would only work on two computers, the included services would be available from any computer.

I have application where I acquire data from sensors using stain gauge and thermocouple modules with 6225M DAQ card. Also I am writing some data that i get from a joy stick to a serial port in the same application. In order to run executable file of this application what software do I need? I installed labview runtime engine in the target machine but it didn't run my program. Do I need to install any drivers for the DAQ card? i am using labview 8.6.

Of course you need to install the DAQmx driver. If you have LabVIEW 8.x, when you create the installer, you have the option to install different versions of the driver ranging from a full install to a minimal one. If you have tasks saved in MAX, you would want to install MAX and export your current config. Then select to have the installer import the config on the pc with the exe.

When I used Audacity to digitize some of my LPs I would record the whole album, then trim the lead in, select and export the first track, delete that, then export the next track, and so on. You can zoom in and out to locate the track breaks. There is a snap to zero point option which should prevent clicks on track transitions. If you want to go deeper you can add fade in and out so you don't snap into the sound of the groove. (I was using a pretty ropey turntable). There are other tools that chop up audio but you should be able to do it all in Audacity reasonably quickly once you get your eye in. I'm sure there are tools that can chop audio at pre-specified points, or even calculate where those points should be, but they are unlikely to be free and probably still need a degree of supervision.
