What versions of Adobe Reader will *really* work with Mac OS 10.6.8 on a Macbook Pro 2.16 ghz Intel Core2 Duo?
Below is a list of your minimum requirements for Mac for versions 9-11 of Adobe Reader:
Please note that my operating system is neither explicitly included or excluded and "or later" is not used in your info below. Perhaps Adobe can manage to inform its users properly or own up to issues (note the many others asking the same unanswered question in many venues, including these forums)? My AR updater will not update beyond AR9.5.5.
I am also having other sudden issues related to .pdf creation from MS Word docs, which I will address in a separate post.
Thank you for a prompt and courteous reply.
Adobe Reader XI system requirements
These system requirements are for Adobe® Reader® XI software, v11.0. Because system requirements change with each software update, refer to the Release Notes for your software version for the latest information on supported operating systems and browsers. Technical specifications are also available for the mobile version of Adobe Reader.
Mac OS
Intel® processor
Mac OS X v10.6.4, v10.7.2, or v10.8
1GB of RAM
350MB of available hard-disk space
1024x768 screen resolution
Safari 5.1 for Mac OS X v10.6.8 or v10.7.2; Safari 5.2 for Mac OS X v10.8; Safari 6.0 for Mac OS X v10.7.4 or v10.8
Your Mac may be too old and may be limitied to Lion or maybe even Snow Leopard
1. Check your Mac hardware.
To get details about your Mac model, click the Apple icon at the top left of your screen, choose About This Mac, then choose More Info. These Mac models are compatible with OS X Yosemite:
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Xserve (Early 2009)
The early 2006 can go to Snow Leopard
The late 2006 to Lion
later ones to Yosemite
In any event, 2 GB would result in slow performance

Adobe reader will not work with games
adobe reader will not work with games
That is correct. Adobe Reader is intended for viewing PDF files, not for playing games. Perhaps you are thinking of Adobe Flash Player?
-
I am having some problems with downloading, possibly settings are incorrect, esp. flashplayer upgrade will not install - i have iMac 8.1 osx v10.5.8 - processor: 3.06 ghz intel core2 duo mem: 2 gb 800 mhz ddr2 sdram - i am considering making an appt with Apple store nearby since we have a few in vicinity but thought i would give the online support a try.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl ash
You can check here what version of Flash player you actually have installed: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe. -
My MacBook Pro, 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo gives me an error message during Lion install. My Intel Duo Core is not an Intel Duo Core and cannot install Lion. I already have Snow Leopard what is the problem with Lion?
You need a "Core 2 Duo" for lion, and I'm guessing you only have a "Core Duo" My wife's macbook is also a "Core Duo" and has Snow Leapord, but cannot install Lion.....

Adobe Reader 10 not working with Mac OS 10.6.7 browser
After upgrading to Mac OS 10.6.7, Adobe Reader 10 will not download a pdf file properly from either Safari or Firefox. In either browser, the resulting page is totally blank. Downloading older versions of Adobe Reader has not resolved the issue. Outside of any connection with a browser, Adobe Reader 10 works flawlessly as a free standing program. Would be grateful for any assistance.
For everyone having the problem:
Highlight one of your .pdf documents. Hit Command + I on the keyboard for the "get info" window to open up.
Check to see what the "Open with" shows. If it is not Preview, choose Preview. You may have to click on the little lock in the bottom right corner first to unlock it and enter your admin password. When done, click the little lock to close it. Close the window. Restart computer. Try a .pdf now to see if it works. -
I bought my macbookpro in may 2007, will it work with Mountain Lion? Model Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro2,1 Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.33 GHz Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 4 MB Memory: 3 GB Bus Speed: 667 MHz Serial Number (system): W872******
Apple states that (of the MBP lines) it has to be from Mid/Late 2007 or later. yours seems to be right on the line.
Apple says
If you are running Lion, you can find out if your current Mac qualifies by clicking the Apple icon at the top left of your screen, choosing About This Mac, then clicking More Info.
you must also have the latest version of Snow Leapord or Lion -
I have a macbook pro, purchased late 2006... I can scroll with 2 fingers so I'm wondering if it will support the multi touch gestures before I purchase OS X Lion?
Thanks!Probably Not. Im sorry.
The new macs have a different kind of trackpad that is more sensitive to touch. And Apple doesn't make new stuff for old macs because most people have a new mac and because the old hardware is not fast enough to run it. Im sorry.
Hope this helps. -

I recently update staff computers to use the Adboe Reader XI. Now they can not print to the plotter in our office. They can pront the same pdf file to all other printer/plotters but not the HPT1200. I uninstalled Adobe XI and re installed Adobe X. and it works. What do I have to do to get Adobe Reader XI to work with our color plotter?

CS 5. Will it work with Mac OS 10.10.1?
Will it work with Mac OS 10.10.1? If not what is the latest version of Mac OS it would work correctly with?
The most recent version of the Mac OS is 10.10.1 (Yosemite). Do not wish to update if it will affect my ability to use CS 5.
Thanks,Knight Lancelot we have not tested CS5.5 with Mavericks. Please be aware though that Creative Cloud versions of our applications are receiving "Incompatible Software" errors. Please see "Incompatible Software" error | Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9) - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/incompatible-software-mavericks.html for additional information.

I have a macbook pro 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo 2010 13" aluminum with 8gb of memory and a 250gb hard drive running version 10.6.8 with safari 5.1.4. Safari will open up intermittently on its own. System preferences and the dock isn't set up to start safari. Can't figure out why this is happening. Had reloaded system from scratch and noticed this happening lately.
Remove iAntiVirus, then reboot, see if it's better.

I have a 2008? MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB ram. Can I use 2 GB ram from the old machine in a new MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Quad-core Intel i7 ?
/bcVery likely not.
RAM gets improved over time like everything else, so if the RAM is too old it won't be compatible with newer machines.
TO confirm, use Crucial.com and punch in each machine, then read the RAM requirements and specifications, if they match, then your good.
But I'm willing to bet they won't be beause of the age difference between the two machines. -
