Just goes to show you (if this is, in fact what you did), don't just go blindly deleting files that have a ".LOG" extension.

What will happen when redo log file or archive log file, which is yet to be read by logminer is corrupted? It seems that the captures process hangs between “Paused for flow control” and “Enqueuing Messages”. How to come out of this condition without recreating the captures process?
    Any clue is helpful
Thanks in advance for your help.

Basically you can't skip SCN since it will result in a data integrity issues (say you had skipped some inserts and later there will be some updates to a not replicated data).
Streams maintain their own checkpoint tables with transaction related stuff. So there is no way you can jump over a range of SCN's without recreating capture.
The only thing you can try - temporary give capture process a rule without any objects. But it will need to mine through the redo anyway.

If I want to change my Apple ID will my apps from the previous Apple ID get deleted?

No, it will just ask you for the password to your old Apple ID to update the apps in the future. Unless your talking about simply changing the email address associated with your Apple ID account.

Photo stream photos will be deleted once you reach 1,000 unless you import them into iPhoto. You can set your iPhoto preferences to import them automatically.

As Sybrand pointed out, this msg can be ignored. It clearly states that a given arch process cannot archive a given redo because that redo is already being handled by a different arch process. If you follow your alert log a little further, you'll see that the referenced thread is eventually completed.
I'd be curious to see the alert log from when you were locked up and only sysdba could log on. See what led you to believe that adding more redo log groups would solve your problem.

  • What will happen to the information on iCloud, if I delete the iCloud account on one device?*

My iPad I have inherited from my wife. I wish to delete her iCloud account on my iPad and connect it to my existing iCloud account. If I delete her iCloud account from my IPad will the information on her iCloud account be disrupted (lost)?

No.  Deleting the account will only delete the account from the iPad, not from iCloud.  Her devices won't be effected by this.  When you delete the account, you will need to provide the password (if using iOS 7).  You will then be given the option to delete the iCloud data from the iPad.
However, if she is giving the iPad to you, it's best to completely erase the device by going to Settings>General>Reset and tapping Erase All Content and Settings.  That will remove the iCloud account as well as unregister it for iMessage, FaceTime, etc.  You can then go through the setup screens as if it were a new iPad.

  • What will happen if iBGP link fails Enterprise level

The above diagram shows the setup of my network.
We have 2 site running service to provide content for our customer. Both ISP aggregate our ASN 4000 so that which client can find which ever AS path is closer to them.
Question is that if our iBGP link is down and both ISP continue to aggregate our ASN. Will our setup still works? because I feel that the network will be confuse now of which path to take

Your ibgp link is providing failover for when the respective ISP goes down. If the ibgp link goes down, it wouldn't affect the individual path for each site. (Site A can still get to ISP A and Web Server 1.) If you lose the circuit to ISP A *AND* the ibgp link, then all of your users would route to the Site B side. Also, if you lose any ISP circuit, A or B, the users will still go to the side that's up. Make sense? You can manipulate your paths in BGP to always select the ISP as the main path, and if that path goes down, then you could configure the ibgp neighbor as the next path to take.

  • What is the purpose of standby redo log files

    Hi,
What is the purpose of the standby redo log files in DR?
what if the standby redo log files are created? or else not created?
    Please explain
    Thanks

3.1.3 Configure a Standby Redo LogA standby redo log is required for the maximum protection and maximum availability modes and the LGWR ASYNC transport mode is recommended for all databases. Data Guard can recover and apply more redo data from a standby redo log than from archived redo log files alone.
You should plan the standby redo log configuration and create all required log groups and group members when you create the standby database. For increased availability, consider multiplexing the standby redo log files, similar to the way that online redo log files are multiplexed.>

  • Fundamental questions on redo logs and rollbacks

    Hi all,
Some basic questions, I really want to understand it very clearly.
Suppose that we have updated few records in a table. We know that the blocks to be updated will be fetched into buffer cache, they will be updated with new value and commited eventually. The questions I have are ,
    1) What exact information will go to redo log ? is it a copy of the block before change and copy of the block after change ?
    2) What exactly goes to rollback segment? is it copy of block before change (for update) and just the rowid for inserted row and the copy of block for a deleted row ?
    3) Whatever we do, is it the whole block that goes to redo or rollback ? Means if there are 10 rows in the block and we update one of them, still whole block goes to redo or rollback ?
    4) If we rollback, what goes where ? Is there anything that goes to redo if we rollback ?
    Please explain.
    Thanks.

Redo stores changes made in the database, and undo/rollback stores the reverse of those changes. Data blocks may be changed prior to a commit, and recorded in both locations.
So, when a database is recovered, redo is applied to the backup datafiles, rolling every change forward, and then undo is applied to reverse any uncomitted transactions.
Undo/rollback can also be used simply to roll back a transaction in an active instance. Redo is only used during instance recovery.
I don't know if this is tracked via the storage of block images, or if it just stores the change itself.

  • How to clean redo log file?

    Hi, guys:
I need to migrate data from external tables to normal tables. But the connection is always frozen half the way of executing script. The error message is ORA-00257. it looks redo log file is full. I tried to delete redo log file with RMAN, but I got this error message:
    delete archivelog until time 'trunc(sysdate)';
using target database control file instead of recovery catalog
    allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
    channel ORA_DISK_1: SID=43 device type=DISK
specification does not match any archived log in the repository
    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Sounds like you are confusing (online) redo logs with "archivelogs" (archived redo logs).
You don't delete redo logs at all. You can delete archivelogs with rman, which is what your command is trying to do. Do you ever backup the archivelogs? A proper backup/recovery policy would backup the archivelogs on at least a daily (if not more often) basis, and delete them after they are backed up. That will keep the archivelog destination from filling up in all but the most extreme circumstances.
    delete archivelog until time 'trunc(sysdate)';

  • Does external table creation creates redo log ?

    Hi all,
I am on Oracle 10.1 on Solaris, but my question is generic.
I am creating an external table from a CSV text file. In the process of creating and reading (using) this external table any REDO information will be generated?
Till 8i, for loading CSV files, I would load the file with SQL*loader to a staging table and then process the data. This process of loading to staging table will create redo log information (unless I use NOLOGGING, which I cannot use for some reason).
Since 9i and 10g, I can create external table of the CSV file and use it. What can be the internal working of external table? Does it load the data to some temporary table internally (transparant to us)? or does Oracle reads the external source file as it needs it?
Important question is, in the whole affair of using a read-only external table, will Oracle create redo log information?
    Please help.
    Regards

I am creating an external table from a CSV text file. In the process of creating and reading (using) this external table any REDO information will be generated? <<The create statement will generate redo for the rdbms dictionary changes. If the nologging parameter is legal on a create statement for an external table it will have no effect since DDL is always logged. The insert select will generate redo for the inserts into the target table so again creating the external table as nologging would have no effect on the subsequent use of the table.
If you just select against the external table then no redo should be generated.

  • Online Redo Log groups

    Dear All,
How to check the health of redo log file, we have 200 MB undo tablespace in our production server is it enough for huge transactions. Can I check how much time my redo log file data have been overwritten?
Further in which situation we will add Online Redo Log Groups and which situation we will add Log Members.
My rollback segment is using System tablespace is it recommended?
What is recommendation about 1 redo log group is redo log member or 1 redo log group is multiple redo log members.

Thanks Mr. Nicolas. for your informative guidence.
Can I check how much time my redo log file data have been overwritten?Check v$loghist.
We have 218 records in v$loghist, it means 218 times data have been overwritten, i think its not good. Can you guide me how to rectyify this.
in which situation we will add Online Redo Log GroupsIn case of checkpoint not complete reported into alert.log.
How to findout checkpoint entry in alert.log
which situation we will add Log Members. This is the redolog multiplexing, at least two members for each redolog group.
Ok, Can we do multiplexing for members or just do for groups.
My rollback segment is using System tablespace is it recommended? No.
OK, can we change rollback segments tablespace.
1 redo log group is redo log member or 1 redo log group is multiple redo log membersA minimum of two redolog group with two members for each.
After, it depend of your db activity.
We have just one member for each group and we have three groups, so whats ur recommnedation we will add 1 member in each group.

  • Redo log file corupted, database not getting open

    I am Oracle Funda-1 student.
Have install standard Oracle 9I on Windows XP pro service pack 2.
I made some changes in sample table & given commit. So log buffer will flush to redo log file.
Then I open current redo log file from OS & selected all junk characters [select all] & deleted same. Save the file. Causing redo file size 0KB.
Then made more changes to table & issue commit. no errors ! every thing working file.
    Even chked V$log & V$logfile.
Again I open current redo log file from OS & selected all junk characters [ select all ] & deleted same. Save the file. Causing redo file size 0KB.
Then issue manual log switch. Alter system switch logfile
I got disconnected from database & database was close.
When I reconnected & try to open database in normal mode. Gave error saying redolog_1.log is corrupted & needed for recovery.
Now not even allowing me clear redo group 1. with alter database clear logfile group 1. as database is not coming to open stage.
just able to mount the database. with error rdolog_1 corrupted.
Wasn't oracle suppose to be halted when very 1st time I corrupted redo log file.
Why it disconnected me & got close.
When then one use alter database clear logfile group 1.

    I may try this ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
As no backup & not multiplex.
Still looking for explanation why database got close down instead of getting halt.
I have found one more status in V$log, which is not given in Oracle university book or online document.
    INVALIDATED
Which come as a result when oracle unable to switch to next on line group due to non availability of next group redo log physical file.
    SQL> select group#,members,status from V$log;
    GROUP# MEMBERS STATUS
    1 1 INVALIDATED
    2 1 INACTIVE
    4 1 UNUSED
As matter of fact, it's only portion of a big
document which happen to cover what you are testing
    in detail.
I would invest time to read the document to
understand how things work instead of getting dirty
    quick answers.
