What would cause no browser to find internet, but iTunes and App Store work?

I am able to go to Apple iTunes Store, Apple App Store and check for Software Updates, but can't connect to Internet through Safari, Firefox or Google Chrome. What would be the reason? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What happens when you try to load a page in a web browser? Is there some kind of error message, and if so, what does it say? Have you tried multiple different pages, with the same results? What about Mail - do you use that, and if so, is it able to connect?
I notice there's a disparity between the short text preview of your post and what is actually showing. I'm not sure whether that's because you edited the post or what, but you had (at some point) said:

The question in my mind is, what virus definitions? What anti-virus software do you have installed? Have you tried disabling it to see if the problem goes away?
Edit: Ahh, and now I can see the post where you said that, whereas it wasn't showing up at all before. This forum software is having serious problems this week!

I (though am not sure what happened) solved the problem. Under show all I had both videos and music selected as on. I turned off videos and ..hey presto..the slider reappeared.

Is this a new Apple iD? If it is, and you have already set it up, then you have two options:
1. Temporarily put a Credit Card or Gift Card on the account to download the free app. If you put a credit card, then once you have downloaded the app, you should be able to go into your Account preferences and change the payment option to = None.
2. You can download the fee App, and then set up a new Apple ID.

I can log into iTunes and App Store but NOT iMessage. What gives?

I'm currently using Wifi with my 3rd gen iPad. iOS 6.0.1. I'm not home so I don't have access to my iMac (actually currently at 30k ft somewhere over Virginia :) ).
Anyway, I can log into iTunes, access the App Store, sign out of those, log back in. No prob. I used my appleID and pass to write this message. But I cannot get into Imessage, and I can't figure it out!
I get an error saying: "could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." If I try to make a new appleID, imessage thinks and thinks...nothing happens.
This isn't a new issue, it's been like this for quite a while, since upgrading to iOS 6 months ago. How can I get into imessage on my ipad? For what it's worth, it works fine on my iPhone.

I have access to the internet but Safari, the App Store, and the itunes store won't connect.

So I download OS X Lion and it seems that since then, I have been having difficulty with using safari, itunes, and the appstore on certain wireless networks. Strangely, it seems that it only happens with the wireless in my workplace. I'm wondering are there certain settings for a wireless environment that would mean that these apps (and also the Software Update) would not work properly?

Looks like a DNS-problem to me.
Having the wifi connected doesnt mean to be online.
But the answer can only be as exact as your question !
I guess you should give a lot more "meat" to your subject.

Ipad2 error -1202, connection to internet but not to App Store

I'm having trouble connecting my Ipad2 to the appstore. Everything was working fine untill a couple of hours ago. The appstore, facebook, Youtube, and some other apps are not working due to troubles connecting to the internet. However, I have wi-fi and I can use safari on my Ipad, no problems there.
Does anyone know what to do??? I've already reset and reboothed my router, reboothed my Ipad, reset settings, etc, etc. Nothing works!
My software is up to date and I am using iOS 6.0.1

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Itunes and app store lost internet connection

Itunes and appstore plus an unrelated menubar appstore app and xmarks won't connect to the internet but I have internet connection. Anyone know why this would happen? I reinstalled my operating system which fixed the problem for a while but now it has reoccured and I'm absolutely sure that it wasn't due to my fiddling with system settings.

What happened to the "tuner" app? I bought it a few days ago, and now it's not available when my friend searches for it. I checked itunes, the iphone apps, and even searched by music catatory rather than by name.

When you click on the TUNER link, it launches the itunes store and says this app is not available in the U.S. huh? not fun! I have half a dozen friends that are excited to try it out. I'm glad I got it while I could too. I wonder what triggered the removal?

Safari works just fine - proof of internet connection
Mail works just fine.
I go to "Settings" > iTunes & App Store try to login and all I get is a spinning wheel in the upper left corner of the screen.
