I use the i-Blason Cushion Sleeve. The iPad Mini fits great and there is a little zipper pouch for a charger and stylus.

I read an article and cannot find it that said something about trying to make it 2million pixels and JPG to keep it small, but what exactly should the dimensions be that I ultimately import? Are you plugging in every night, locking the iPad and connected to WiFi? Are you meeting all three requirements?
Well that is what I do and it works for me because I can see the next day that the new backup shows in Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>Backup Now. If you look at my screenshot - you will see that I experimented to make sure that it would work. I responded on July 3 at 12:24 PM when you posted. Then I locked the iPad, plugged it in and waited for about 30 minutes before I unlocked the iPad to see if it backed up. The screenshot shows the backup was completed at 12:44 PM on July 3.
I also backup with iTunes and I almost never auto backup. I just initate the back up on my own. But the instructions that I posted are right from the settings. You can read it for yourself in the screenshot.
You do have to wait for at least 24 hours before the next backup will take place, but if you are getting a message that you haven't backed up a week later, I can't explain that.
Dont trust that message. Look and see what the date of the last backup was. That's the only way to know for sure.

In my opinion, there are none.
Yes, there are other programs that will put a movie on a DVD. I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, DVD Creator, Wondershare, and others. None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

Thanks for that. Yes, the ipad was purchased recently. I called Apple last Friday and they ask for the receipt. I wonder if anyone were able to swap their ipad for a larger storage in the past at the apple store without a receipt? 16Gb is such a small storage.

iPad Smart Cover and Smart Case—polyurethane
To clean your polyurethane iPad Smart Cover / Case, first remove it from the iPad. Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Wipe the front of the Smart Cover / Case and the inside with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove any dirt.
Don't use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean the polyurethane Smart Cover / Case.
iPad Smart Cover and Smart Case—leather
The iPad leather cover/case is made from natural aniline leather. Its appearance will change as you use it. It may acquire a patina and may change color due to the oils from your skin and direct sunlight, further enhancing the natural look.
Cleaning the leather may affect its color. If you choose to clean the leather, first remove the cover/case from your iPad. Use a clean cloth with warm water and mild hand soap to gently clean the leather. Wipe the outside and the inside with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove any dirt. You want to just use Dropbox until the dust settles. To use it from iWork for iOS (assuming you have the Dropbox app installed on your device), open the document in Keynote (for example), tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), choose Open in Another App, choose Keynote as your format, then choose Open in Dropbox and you will get an option to save it to your Dropbox account. To open it from Dropbox in iWork for iOS, open the document in the Dropbox app, tap the share icon, tap Open in Keynote (for example). It's a bit clunky, but works.

But, realistically, if you give your child access to the internet, they will, eventually stumble upon something you might find inappropriate. As with any tool that could potentially be dangerous but that you want your child to learn how to use, proper supervision is key.

been with apple for years. one itunes/appleID in use for family - all purchases and downloads on the one account..
now got 3 ipads, 3 iphones and when we update the software, we seem to get text/facetime issues due to multiple email addresses and phone numbers for the different devices that each individual uses. For example, I send a text and it appears to have come from my wife or son to the recipient. Not good !
there seems to be direction from apple that each of us should use our own apple id, thogh how do I link the accounts so enable family sharing of music/media we have purchased etc - Id also like to be able to review and keep a private eye on what my son downloads as he is 11 yrs old ! I manage this currently as we allow him access to the password for itunes (as we all use the same id today)
Am i better setting up accounts for my wife and son independent of my own, or not. Each of us would like access to the family content we have and the master library of synced content. I just want the most simplistic approach that apple, or others would recommend.
Is there a better or optimum setup for a family as we cannot be alone.....

My iPhone won't arrive for a little while, but my wife already got hers and she wants to set it up now. Using my Apple ID for the purchases, if she starts setting hers up, can she change her iCloud ID to something else quickly? It keeps telling us that we have to sign in with the AppleID first.
Should we just set up an iCloud account via normal internet before trying all this via iPhone?

I've heard different things about the retina display and that people only get it to edit photos etc but then people have said that it is quicker and makes the laptop lighter. I'm also unsure of how much storage I will need. If anyone can help that would be great!!

There are two screen displays available - Retina and non-Retina - and there's a world of difference between them. The Retina has non-user replaceable RAM and flash storage (well, the latter without voiding your warranty) and the non-Retina has user replaceable RAM and HD/SSD. And then, of course, there's the difference in the resolution of the screen itself... and a difference between the 13" and 15" screens (available in both 'flavors').
How much storage you need will depend on your needs.
I don't recommend the Retina models at this time - too many issues with tinting (on Samsung displays) and image retention (on LG displays).
So take a look at what the non-Retina machines have to offer - you can customize to your heart's content but remember that you can always upgrade the RAM and the hard drive in the non-Retina machines yourself.

I agree with Ralph in that you should buy the largest storage iPad that you can comfortably afford - but only as long as you think that you will need that much space. I think that the 32GB device is a good choice and that's without even knowing what you want to do with it.
You don't really need tons and tons of storage because of the fact that you can delete and download most purchased content again, or you can transfer purchases into iTunes, delete them from you device and then sync them back when needed.
I have two iPads that are WiFi only and I have a mobile hotspot that I purchased when I bought my first iPad. With WiFi being accessible in so many places these days, I find that I rarely, if ever even use the hotspot anymore. I just don't need it that often. If you are one of these kind of people that cannot leave the house without your iPad glued to your side, and cannot stand to be without Internet access for a few hours at a time, then you might want to consider the cellular iPad.
But even if you are one of those individuals, you can buy the WiFi only Minin and always purchase a mobile hotspot at a later time.

Can't register my iPad mini Retina with Apple Support

When I try to register my iPad mini with the Apple Support in my profile page, it says that my serial number is already registered to another Apple ID, and to check to see if I've got any other IDs. I ordered this directly from Apple when it was released, and it had never been opened. I contacted Apple, and their records show that it's registered to me. But I'd like to register it online so I can submit questions and any maintenance requests, which I can't do because I can't register it. Has anyone else had this problem?

I tried. They said their records showed that the iPad was registered to my Apple ID. They had no explanation why my serial number couldn't be registered. Felt I was getting the run around so I thought I'd toss it out to the community.

Hi everyone. I am currently running a mac mini server and it's maxed out. I have just purchased a Mac Pro server and I was wondering if anyone has moved there data in a similar scenario. Is it as simple as restoring a time machine backup to the new server? Any insight would most appreciated as I need this to go smoothly. Thank you.

Apple's official Time Machine documentation says NOT to use TM to back up an entire server.
The reason being is that it will NOT properly back up your databases. The three in question most often used with OS X server is the Mail DB, the MySQL DB and the Open Directory.
Database experience tells me that reason behind their not supporting Databases is the issue with reading info that's being written to or read from while TM is doing it's thing. It's likely that if the server is under load when the time machine backs up, you're going to get an inconsistent copy.
The ONLY apple documented GUI method of restoring a server is by using the Setup Assistant during the initial setup of a server. (using a firewire cable to connect and having your old server in target disk mode)
This in fact I would say is the most reliable method of migration.
(my 2 cents)
Write more and let us know how the new server works on a continual basis! I've not heard of anyone having a successful restore taken from a live server.

Low in signal for my iPad Mini retina with Airport Extreme

I have an issue with my Airport Extreme. As my room is pretty far away from my modem causing a very low signal, so i decide to get an Airport extreme to boost the connection. My Mac Book Air is working fine with full bar WiFi connection whereas likewise for my iPad and iPhone 6, they keep getting disconnected and buffering issue. Can someone please help me to solve this issue? I have also downloaded the Airport Utility.

If you want to "extend" the network using a wireless connection between devices, one of them.....your AirPort Extreme, for example.....must connect to the modem using a wired Ethernet cable connection and provide a wireless network signal.
Then, you will need to add another Apple router.....and AirPort Express, for example.....to extend the network. The AirPort Express will connect using wireless with the AirPort Extreme.
Another way to say the same thing is that if you want to "extend" the network, you will need two Apple AirPort devices to do so.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
