whats the maximum resolution supported @ 60 Hz on an external display for mid 2014 macbook pro retina 13 inch ?

I don't know where you found 1920x1080, but that isn't the max. The INTERNAL display can even support more than that.
The maximum resolution is really hardware based, and since Thunderbolt 2 has a Mini displayport connector (Mini Displayport 1.2), the max resolution for Mini Displayport is 4k (3840x2160).
PLEASE NOTE: Not all adapters can support that resolution, most monitors that can run 4k @60Hz have Displayport 1.2 (The most recent revision), Mini Displayport 1.2, and HDMI 2.0. DVI dual link can run 4k, but only 24-30Hz, depending on the monitor.
Hope this helps!!

  • Is it a good idea to buy the mid 2014 macbook pro Retina, if the ssd isn't changible.

I've been researching computer specifications lately, as I'm looking to buy a new laptop. And i've learned that hdd & ssd wear out over time. Am i right in saying that  they are the only thing that causes a computer to run slower overtime? whether its caused by wear, filling them up or other things.
But if i can't change the ssd, will the laptop not be slow after 2.5-3 years, and then i will eventually be forced to buy a new laptop.
I'm looking to use The macbook for music production, and everyday browsing.

Thanks for the answers. I am a big fan of using Mac, but there are no other purchase options than the latest retina models. They have stopped selling all the previews models here in Denmark, and portability is important to me, so it has to be a laptop.
I just called Apple support here in Denmark, and they said, if I find the ssd slow they will change it to a new ssd for an unknown price.

You can try using Screen Sharing in the Sharing preferences. Or try a third-party utility such as ScreenRecycler.

Mini DisplayPort to DVI. If the monitor is a 30-inch model, it requires a dual-link DVI adaptor.

  • Is there a way to install OS X Snow Leopard on the 2014 MacBook Pro Retina?

I have a 2014 MacBook Pro Retina that I purchased a few months ago. Is there a way to install OS X Snow Leopard on it? I do not have a DVD drive and do not own OS X Snow Leopard discs. I do have a retail copy .dmg file of it though. Can I copy it over to a USB flash drive and install it on a partition of my hard drive? How do I do that, if it's possible? Can you list the steps? I would appreciate it!
    Thanks!
    P.S. Please don't ask why.

Presumably, you want Snow Leopard in order to be able to run PowerPC applications.  If so, more information can be found here:

  • My screen has marks made by the keyboard when closed. Possible design flaw (mid 2012 macbook pro retina)

My screen has marks made by the keyboard when closed. I think is because possible desing flaw. Is a macbook pro retina mid 2012. Maybe the secreen is very close to the keyboard when close. It is a soft mark, but I´m sure it´s because the keyborad because is the same shape.
    Thank you

Whether they replace just the screen, a subassembly, the whole top half of the computer, or the entire computer is entirely up to them, as is whether they replace with new or refurbished parts.
I would make sure I had at least one full backup of everything on my computer before taking it in. Two would be even better. Even if they don't replace the entire computer, something could happen during installation and testing of new parts.
Back when people really cared about the manufacturer of their screen (in the beginning of the Retina models, when one manufacturer had a bad run of screens), instructions for using Terminal commands to determine which you had circulated. I didn't bother to keep a copy of the one I used. A web search for "retina screen manufacturer" (without the quotes) should reveal as top hits several sites with very similar instructions.

  • What's the maximum internal space for Mid 2010 MacBook Pro

Ok guys I'm about to upgrade my internal drive on my MacBook Pro and would like to know what is the maximum space to put in. I'm also gong to replace optibay a 128GB SSD. Is any 1TB 2.5" good?

I suggest that you install the SSD in the same place as your current HDD.  Install the 1 TB drive  in the DVD drive location.
I have HGST 1 TB drives, both 5400 rpm and 7200 rpm.  Both work satisfactorily.
    Ciao.
I also have the HGST 1.5 TB HDDs but they are only available in 5400 rpm versions.

  • What's the biggest display my late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina 13" can run?

    I have 2 questions:
1.) What is the biggest display (in terms of pixel resolution) that my MacBook can run?
2.) Is there some 'cutoff point' at which I need some special adapter to run a better display?
Here are my specs: Hardware Overview:
      Model Name: MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier: MacBookPro11,1
      Processor Name: Intel Core i7
      Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
      Number of Processors: 1
      Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
      L3 Cache: 4 MB
      Memory: 16 GB
      Chipset Model:
    Intel Iris
      Type:
    GPU
      Bus:
    Built-In
      VRAM (Dynamic, Max):
    1536 MB

According to following site, 3840x2160 at 30 Hz or 4096x2160 at 24 Hz via HDMI.

  • What are the best Color "Display Settings" for both my Macbook Pro Retina and Thunderbolt Display??

I have recently purchased a Thunderbolt Display for my MBPr (early 2013) and was wondering what were the best settings for both to obtain an equal color and graphic appearance. I want to have them identical for working on graphics and illustrations.
    Thanks

I have the same laptop. There's nothing you really need to do to optimise the system. Perhaps just install the cuda drivers.
It runs premiere like a dream.

  • Bug/No full support for GLUT on macbook pro retina

    Hi,
We have a software that makes use of GLUT, the openGL utility library. This is multiplatform so it conveniently let's our software compile to many platforms. We are now thinking of compiling it for macs but there seems to be some bug in the OSX implementation of GLUT. Rendering to 1 pixel in our rendering context shows up as 4 pixels. Why is this the case? This will make the graphics look horrible on an otherwise superb screen. Is there some way to get around this?
    Cheers,
    Petter

    Hi lzawacki,
If you are not able to send SMS messages from your MacBook Pro, check the settings for this Continuity feature in the article below.  Then restart your Mac and test.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT6337
    SMS
With Continuity, all the SMS and MMS text messages you send and receive on your iPhone also appear on your Mac, iPad, and iPod touch. Even if the person you’re communicating with doesn’t have an iPhone. And regardless of what phone they have, you can reply from whichever device is closest to you, including your iPad or Mac. You can also initiate a  conversation by clicking a phone number in Safari, Contacts, or Calendar.
To use Continuity for SMS and MMS with your iPhone and your Mac, iPad or iPod touch
Your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch need to use iOS 8.1, and your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
Sign in to iMessage on your iPhone, your other iOS devices, and your Mac using the same Apple ID.
    On your iPhone:
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By, and add a check to both your phone number and email address.
Go to Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and enable the device(s) you would like to forward messages to.
Your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch will display a code. Enter this code on your iPhone to verify the SMS feature.
I hope this information helps ....

I am looking to upgrade my mackbook pro and was wondering what's the highest amount of ram and maximum amount of hard drive space i can get.
also whats a good brand i should use for both ram and hard drive.

I like Hitachi (HGST) and have 6 of them in my inventory.  I never had any WD drives and there are some who do not speak well of them who's opinions I respect.
I also have many Seagate HDDs and currently have 1 TB Seagate SSHDs in my MBPs.  They are performing satisfactorily.
