With new phone, calendar sync takes forever

Using iTunes 7.7.1 on Leopard I am trying to complete the initial sync with my brand-new iPhone 3G. It is currently stuck at synchronizing my calendars. I interrupted the initial sync process, updated the firmware to 2.0.1 and made sure that only one of my calendars is synchronized. It has been going on for well over 10 min now.
In another forum someone had a similar problem synching with Outlooks calendar on Windows. The suggestion given there was to eliminate recurring appointments with no end date. Does this advice apply to the Mac's iCal, as well? I wouldn't even know where to begin with going through my calendar hunting down those items.

Getting the same problem, in my experience the synchronisation does end eventually but it can take several hours. If you allow the process to end then it does seem better the next time although you can't always arrange to have your phone tied up for a few hours a day.
Just for the record I've tried it using calendars without any recurring appointments and it is the same.
I am using iCal with shared calendars iCal server in case that is an issue.
Incidentally, I have also experienced appointments which do not appear to sync and one which seemed to disappear after a sync.
Overall the advice is: use calendars with care!

Restoring lost calendar using TM with new MobileMe calendar sync enabled

I have several Macs set to sync my calendars using the new MobileMe calendar.
I accidentally deleted an entire calendar, and it has now been deleted from all computers as well as MobileMe.
I have a Time Machine backup of one of the computers.
Can I simply restore ~/Library/Calendars from the TM backup and have everything sync through MobileMe properly again?
I know the procedure for backing up calendars has changed for people using the new MM calendar, and am afraid that change may also break the old TM restore procedure for iCal...

Nokia N80 with NEW Firmware wont sync with PC Suit...

i have my Nokia N80 on 02 network
i upgraded the old firmware to the new 4.0623 firmware without any problems at all...
now when i connect to latest version of PC Suite via bluetooth, which used to work fine with the old firmware..
PC Suite says its connected via bluetooth, but when you go to contacts, and then try tp UPDATE them, it just searches for over 15 minutes, and nothing happens..
have done everything i can, and nothing works!
why doesnt it work with new firmware?
even when i try and SYNC the phone with PC suite, it is having none of it! whats going on?

have you tried to syncronise with PC sync to see if the sync overall is in order in PC Suite.
Sometime the PC Sync might work, but the contacts folder sync in Nokia Phone Browser has zillion reasons to be stuck since it is Windwows Explorer inbedded.
By tryibg to use PC Sync you can narrow down the reasons what can go wrong

IPhone calendar sync w Windows 8 Outlook 2013

I am using the Outlook 2013 calendar. I want my iPhone to sync up with this Outlook 2013 client-(not cloud) based calendar, but during an iTunes sync, it seems to pick up the Win8 Calendar app instead.
Any advice? I'm at my wit's end.

OK, my wonderful husband figured this out. He tapped the iPhone calendar app, then the button called "calendars" in the upper lefthand corner, and got a screen that lists the calendars that should show. He clicked only on the "From My PC" calendar, and left the others unclicked.
The root of my problem, IMHO, is that MS Win8 has a horrible calendar app that won't even sync with the MS Outlook Client calendar. The Win8 cloud-based calendar app does a really sloppy job on timezones - an event doesn't even have a visible "timezone" designation. That's why I couldn't use it.
On the other hand, what did expect buying Win8?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your iPhone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your iPhone without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

My spouse (who has now passed away) had an itouch with an itunes library on an IMac. here is the problem, I bought an new iphone 6 and wanted to sync with my windows xp library and of course my itunes version is out of date and I need to update it...well I try and update the version and it will not update the Itunes library and when I researched it I would have to upgrade from XP to Windows 7...r they kidding me...first of all my computer is old and a pain in the *** but I have my itunes library on it. OK...now I appear to 'progressed' I changed my email address back to original on Apple id and then was able to delete icloud account. Apparently I couldnt do it as it kept requesting password when I entered passsword ( both old and new one, it wouldnt accept it as it had my old email address in ) It didnt do that on ios6 . Anyway I deleted account, but now I tried to login in with my new id/password and it says unable as already in use!!! More help needed please! Its a nightmare!!

PLUG your iPhone to PC and go here on your PC...Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers. under unspecified you will see apple iPhone......right click on it and remove device. unplug your iPhone and replug it to your pc and iTunes should open and will see your phone.

If you're on a Mac, you need to upgrade it to Mac OS X 10.6.3 and then 10.6.8, which requires that it has an Intel CPU and at least 1GB of RAM.
