When clicking on a link in an email, an error message kept coming up, implying an incombatibility . Please advise me what version of acrobat reader is compatible with Windows Vista.
Is this a one-off or a general problem? If a one-off, is it a link to a web page or something else? If not a web page, try control-clicking on it and choosing to download the linked file. This will at least access the file though it might be to something you don't have an application to open with. If you do this, what sort of file do you get? - select it and hit command-i to get information on it.

Links in some emails give error messages.
Using AOL Mail under Firefox I get errors stating that the site has a broken link. This happens only on emails from Ebay saved searches and some from PCH. They open fine when using Mail under AOL. This just started happening. I have been using Firefox for sometime as my main browser. I like the speed.
On PCH emails it states that the link is broken and takes you to the home page. On Ebay emails on listed items it shows that the listing is closed or non-existent. These emails open normally on AOL mail. I use Firefox almost exclusively.

I updated Firefox yesterday to 3.6.9. When I receive a URL link in an email within Outlook, I cannot open the link in Firefox. As I said in the question, when I click on the link, a Microsoft Office Outlook error message appears which states that a General failure has occurred in sending the command to the application (which is Firefox). I am using Office 2007 This did not occur prior to the upgrade of Firefox.

I've done some looking but have not found anything about this problem.
More details --, if I get an email (Thunderbird, latest version) that has a link in it, it will be highlighted but now when you click on it to go to that web page or site nothing happens. I've looked through HELP and tried various option settings and also thought it might have something to do with an add-on but I have not found any way to turn this feature back on -- that is, be able to click on the link in the email and open that web page.
I can copy the link location and paste it in the navigation tool bar and go there, it's just another step.
Any ideas?
Thanks ---I seem to have solved my own problem. When I disabled the add-on "Tab Renamizer" everything started working fine.

I have another kind of problem with Firefox

zzxc: When I click on a link in my email it doesn't go to the page. It is a blank page. It will work in internet explorer. When I sign in at certain sites, it doesn't redirect. Why is that?
I am still having the same problem. I did what you said to do, but it didn't help. I cleared all of firefox's cache and still doesn't work.

just windows, itunes, flashI have not found a way for the email hypertext to go to the FaceBook App, but I no longer click on the hypertext as I know whatever information or posting it is directing me to in FaceBook will show up when I open my FaceBook App. I also have noticed that many pop-ups on the Browser don't actually know if you already have the software they are promoting.

I am running on an iMac OS X 10.6.3 using Firefox 3.6.3 as my default browser and I use Postbox 1.1.5 as my email client. Anytime I click on a link within an email message two instances of Firefox open, one with my home page and one with the site the link was meant for. This happens only when Firefox is not already open. If Firefox is running and a link is clicked on it opens normally within the open instance of Firefox. I have contacted Postbox and am currently awaiting a response to see if they have any suggestions. While this is not a serious issue it is a bit annoying. I have Firefox set to open new links in tabs not new instances of windows, so it shouldn't be that. Any help in getting this to stop would be greatly appreciated.

Every time Firefox opened

When I click on a link from my emails it opens automatically through firefox. I want to disable this feature as I would like to go back to Chrome. I don't want to uninstall Firefox all together but I don't want it to be my main browser either.
Thank youThe only way to have such links not open Firefox is to set another browser the default browser.
That MozillaZine Knowledge Base article shows how to set another browser like IE as the default browser.
See Setting default browser manually:

This has happened many times, in fact, every time I've clicked on a link in an email -- but just since Sunday, I think. Before that, it worked perfectly.
# Yes, if you go to accounts.firefox.org, sign out, you will now be signed out.
# Sign back in, and you will be asked to save the password you entered.
# This will save the password and autocomplete if you have this option turned on.
I am not exactly sure why the menu did not detect the password change or if it was stored incorrectly after you changed it? But after storing the correct password you can manage any duplicate passwords in the password manager.[[Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox]] -

Used to be when you clicked on a link in an email, Firefox would launch and load that page. Now, FF launches and loads your default home page, and you have to go back to the other program and click on the link again.
I have not found a way for the email hypertext to go to the FaceBook App, but I no longer click on the hypertext as I know whatever information or posting it is directing me to in FaceBook will show up when I open my FaceBook App. I also have noticed that many pop-ups on the Browser don't actually know if you already have the software they are promoting.
