When downloading and opening a file through Firefox 5 on a Windows 7 machine, files are downloading and opening as read-only.

I am trying to download an attachment from gMail. When I select download, I can open or save as the document. If I select "open", it opens the file, but makes it read only.
If I do this exact action in IE8, it opens the document normally.

Unfortunately, I have not found a solution for this problem yet.
But I did find out, that Safari only crashes, when I choose a "custom" location to save the file at. When I simply click on Download to "Safari Downloads", it keeps working perfectly.
So it seems to be a problem with the choosing of a file location.
Does this give anyone an idea what else I could try?

Are you opening Yahoo mail from a bookmark?
Opening in the Sidebar is the default action for bookmarks that are created via a "Bookmark this Page" link or button on a website. Make sure you use the many "Bookmark this Page" methods that are in Firefox instead.

TS1368 When I am looking at iTunes on my PC, running Windows 7 (updates are complete), and click on the iTunes Store block in the upper left hand corner, I get the message that "iTunes has stopped working". What can you suggest?

iTunes crashes when I click the iTunes Store block. What can I do to get the iTunes Store to open on my computer running Window 7 (all updates installed)? It used to work last fall but some update must have reset something or the newer version of iTunes omitted something that would allow access to the Store from a PC.

I am trying to open a fdf file through firefox in linux machine by clicking the link on that it wants to open a fdf file from remote location. When I am trying to open then it will show an error message in error console like:

Can any body give me a solution for this problem? I am using smb to fetch files from server. In my linux machine we are using Adobe Acrobat 5.0 professional version and also Adobe Reader 8. The link is available in jsp page.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. 
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions. 
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

The D610 needs ACR 8.3 so you are easily covered there. I am not entirely clear on the process you are using the bring the files onto your hard drive. The safest way is to simply bring all the NEF files into a folder on your hard drive, then find them with bridge and open from there.
If still stuck, open Photoshop, and go Help > About plugins > Camera RAW and check that 8.7 installed OK.

I can't seem to upload PDF files through Firefox 5.0

I have not been able to upload a PDF file through Firefox 5.0. This has occurred with two different websites. It appears from the error messages that the file is not being identified as a PDF file, but is labelled something else. DOCX files are uploaded appropriately, but I must use PDF also. Thanks.

I've been using DW CS4 since Dec. 2010 to design and upload the store site with no problems until this past week.
I update the site once a month, during the last couple of weeks I've used DW to design 2 new pages, but this past week when I went to upload the pages I noticed the remote view was different. The remote view did show the 2 new files, including pictures, but not all the other files that I normally see, including the index file.
Plus, there are folders I didn't see before, CGI, DropBox and about 6 others.
On the 2nd pg. of the main site, I put a link to past editions, the URL looks like this... http://www.landmarkantiques.com/July2011.html
I can't think of anything I might have done to cause the change, so I'm at a loss as to why and what might have caused it.
I have DW CS5 that I have not installed, and I'm a little worried about making that transition since this has happened.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipad- without syncing : File>Transfer Purchases
In some countries you can redownload some itunes content.

so i plugged in my ipod and it asked if i wanted to backup the files before restoring it.
Do you mean iTunes asked if you wanted to backup files before restoring? If so the it is in the location I posted. You don't need to navigate to the backup. Once your restore your iPod it will ask if you want to restore from a backup and present you with the backups made before hand.
To restore information from a backup, use one of the following methods after connecting your iOS device to the computer with which you normally sync:
-Click the File menu and select Devices > Restore from Back up.

-Open the iOS device's Summary tab. There are two ways to access this:
-Click the device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper right corner. The device button will then be visible.)

Depending on the system version, and Office Word version:
- a pure URL link starting with http or even www sometimes works in PDF, either produced by Aperçu or Adobe, sometimes does not work;
- other kind of links where the text under display is not a URL, never work!
I like everything with Apple computers and software, except PDF generation. Output files are usually bigger in size, and no better quality, than under Windows. Furthermore, it is weird that something as common as hyperlinks does not work correctly!
I related this question with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, but the problem is still there with Mac OS Lion.
This problem seems to have been around for years, without any proper solution from Apple and/or Adobe! To me, this is very embarrassing!

If I understand the problem correctly (I’m not sure I do) you would prefer ‘iii’ to be read as “eye eye eye” rather than “three”? The alt text property is the only way that I know of to make this happen. Hope this helps.

Yes, I've done all "the ususal suspects.." repaired permissions, zapped pram, "reintroduced Time Machine to the backup drive by turning it off and on... etc

If he's reading the email in Outlook, that shouldn't break up the links.
Do you know: is your recipient clicking on the View File button or the URL link?
Lastly, if the file you're sending is not confidential, would you mind sharing it with me so that I can try to reproduce your recipient's issue? I will send you my email address privately.
