When Firefox is closed, all previous search page and home page settings are not saved. Must reset firefox and reset homepage url everytime.
All previous search engines on "Manage Search Engines" are gone and cant access the "get more search engines"...all grayed out.
Session Manager and Save session are the ad-ons which can solve your problem of saving previous search pages and url.
To set up home page and its related error You have to read this :

When I close CS6 changes in settings are not saved. Reverts to default settings on reopen. Why?
Sorry Photoshop -- Problems solved -- I read the details -- turns out you need to make changes with no files open for the preferences to apply to all files.
Thanks, Al -
Firefox 4 was working fine. Then one day, when I started up Firefox, it says "Proxy is refusing connections." I solved this by selecting "Auto-Detect Proxy" from Advanced network settings, but my changes are not saved and upon every start-up I must select it again! (I even completely removed my webroot antivirus protection, as it as hindering many proxy related programs, but this seems to not be the source of the problem)
You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy"
See "Firefox connection settings":

Firefox v30 Privacy settings: Use customs settings are not saved
After changing privacy settings to
-> Use custom settings for history
[X] Always use private browsing mode
[_] Remember my browsing and download history
[_] Remember search and form history
[X] Accept cookies from sites
Accept third-party cookies: [Always]
Keep until: [I close Firefox ]
When exiting Firefox and relaunching it, this settings is gone.
and 'reset to [Remember history]
Any suggestions as to how to solve this?
Thanks
=Sorry, to reset firefox will require me to install a number of plug-ins.
All my settings were lost.
Luckely I created a backup using MozBackup.exe.
Some add-ons can easily be re-installed, but what about stuff like Acrobat PDF creator and Norton Vulnerability Protection. I think those add-ons are installed when an application is installed, so it would require me to re-install such applicatons.
Preferences not saved: nothing is write protected.
Deep sigh...

My Firefox 4 network settings are not saved when I restart Firefox.
In particular, when I set my proxy configuration to 'No Proxy', it keeps getting reverted back to 'Manual Proxy' with '127.0.0.1' as the proxy address and '63111' as the port.
This issue can also be caused by an extension.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Hi, for some reason I can't get HTML5 videos hosted by Wistia or Vimeo to play correctly in firefox. I tried doing a fresh install of firefox, running version 35.0.1, and the videos still don't play correctly. They constantly load, videos hang on frames, and the audio gets jittery. However, if I switch to flash they do play correctly. Videos on youtube play fine. I can't figure this out. I tested the same videos with Safari, and they play correctly, which tells me there's something not right with Firefox and perhaps my system.
I use a MacBook pro (Mid - 2010) with OS X Yosemite, 10.10.2.
Any ideas?Try to disable all video player extensions in your Firefox and test the site that is giving playback issues. Turn on each one until there is an obvious difference.
Some video formats/codecs may not be supported by one over the other.
Right click on the HTML5 player and select: "About HTML5"
It will tell you that youtube has automatically enrolled you in their beta testing and to opt out you click the link on the bottom to stop seeing HTML5 videos. -
The settings dialog box cuts off the bottom ofthe box content as it seems to be having problems with font rendering.
Settings such as "Show download window" and "Ask me where to save" apparently revert to defaults rather than saving the settings.
The encrypted content alerts are out of synch. They claim to be going from encrypted to non-encrypted when neither page is encrypted. Or warn of non-encrypted content on an encrypted page when the whole page is unencrypted.
3.6.14 had none of these problems.Update to 3.6.16 has fixed this problem.

When there are more than 20 bookmarks in a folder, sort settings are not saved
I have several bookmark folders that contain more than 20 bookmarks each. If I apply a sort to any of these folders, the bookmark sort is lost after I close the browser. If I reduce the number of bookmarks to less than 20, or create a subfolder and move bookmarks to it, the sort remains between sessions.
There are other things that need your attention.
Your above posted system details show multiple Java Console extensions.<br />
You can uninstall and remove Java Console extensions, you do not need them to run Java applets.
See:
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console_extensions
Disable the Java Quick Starter extension: Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions
* Control Panel -> Java -> Advanced tab -> Miscellaneous -> Java Quick Starter (disable)
See:

You may also want to reset some excessive connection settings (about:config) that show in your More system details list. Website Administrators usually do not like such tweaks.

Firefox 11 worked fine. Firefox 12 seemed to install too fast. Now, when opening Firefox, bookmarks don't load in sidebar, even though the top of the sidebar says "bookmarks." Home pages won't load on opening Firefox---only a new tab. Clicking on the little house icon opens the home pages. Display closed tabs icon is dark and Undo closed tabs won't work. Sometimes the toolbar with File, Edit, View etc goes so dark it virtually disappears. I have Vista OS. Reinstalling Firefox 12 didn't help. Is there a fix, or can I go back to Firefox 11?
Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
*Firefox 12.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

I sometimes will open several windows, especially from my Comcast mailbox. When I am through with that window, I will close it, but leave the other ones open. FIrefox won't do this any more, When I close 1 window, Firefox send me a message stating that it is CLOSING ALL TABS. I DONT WANT TO CLOSE all of them, I just want to close the window I am closing!. This is very annoying, because I have to re-log back into everything, because FIrefox is "CLOSING ALL TABS", and all I want to to close ONE window...I am about ready to chuck this browser....I tried to find an answer to this in tools, but was unable to do so. Please help me with this
Use CTRL+W - to close the surrent tab.

''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
* You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or use the Help menu item and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode"''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again.''

All the books I paid money for will not open in iBooks on my MAC. Mavericks will not let me uninstall iBooks, so I cannot uninstall and reinstall it on my Pro. I have deleted and re-loaded the books and they show in my library (as they always did), but when I open them, all I get is a blank page with three dots at the bottom, flashing in sequence. This does not affect the free books from the book store nor does it affect the PDF I have loaded myself. (I had this problem on my iPad when the latest big software came out about a year or two ago, but I was able to re-initalize the complete iPad from my Pro Book.) I have tried just about everything I can think of, but all to no avail. To save time, I have reset my iTunes password and performed all the other "Apple Tips" in the support section, but after 5 hours I am giving up. Surely someone else must be having the same issue??
Yup, same issue since installing Mavericks. iBooks works fine on my wife's Macbook Pro, but on my Mac Pro none of my purchased (protected) books will open - only the free/unprotected ones.
I'm asked for my AppleID password, but nothing happens when I try to open a purchased and downloaded book. I deauthorized, reauthorized, etc ... nothing. Each purchased book that I double-click gives me a dialog asking for my Apple ID password. Nothing else.
I was already buying more books via Kindle than iTunes and this just seals the deal for me. At least I can read my already-purchased iBooks books on my iPad still... -

Regardless of settings, Firefox 4 opens previous tabs instead of home page.
Firefox 4 ignores setting under options to open home page, and always opens tabs from previous session.
Make sure that Firefox closes properly. Otherwise Firefox may try to reopen a crashed session.
