When I charge my ipod, the apple symbol comes up as if it was turning on, then it goes black and repeats the process. Sometimes it gets to where I have to put in my 4 digit code to unlock it then goes black, any suggestions on why it does this?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Try another cable and USB port and/or charging source
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I have tried to update my i phone 4 to version 5, but it came up with the error message of 1603 during , and asked if i wanted to continue which i did , but it has now frozen with the apple logo on the front and a bubble underneath it?? it wont turn off , sync or do anything??? help???

Does it do this with another set of earbuds? If not, does this happen with songs you ripped from CD or downloaded from elsewhere?
Since it's still under a year old, it's covered under Apple's 1 year warranty against manufacturing defects. Show a Genius at the Genius Bar what you are experiencing and they'll likely swap it out for you at no cost.

- hold the home button and sleep/wake button down at tyne same time
- release both buttons when apple logo appears
Does the issue occur when plugged into charge?

The power comes on. Screen turns white. The start up sound plays, the apple symbol come up the loading bar show up but do not show any sign of loading. The loading circle appears and spins. Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless. -
3rd gen iPod touch. I just get a blank screen (after a few secs of the apple symbol) when it is switched on or when connected for charging. I know the connections are OK. Suggestions/help please
I took the iPod to the local Apple shop. The guy put the iPod onto a docking station and checked it - answer "connections are OK". I have used the link before but have not gone through all its suggestions (although picked on the most relevant ones). I may have to go back. Thanks again for your suggestions

I am having the same problem and I keep being told to restore it, but you have to either get the ipod to turn on or have the computer see it in order to so that. Right now I have a pretty useless 32GB ipod touch cos I cant get the thing to turn on! I can only get the apple logo for like maybe 20 seconds and it goes away. Ive charged it for days on a wall charger, on the computer usb charger, and on a speaker charger. Nothing works.

I do not believe that your parents will go "spastic" because your iPod was stolen. I'm thinking that you jailbroke it yourself. Am I correct? -
My ipod froze so I restarted it, but then it happened again, so I restarted it again, and it was fine but then it ran out of battery. Now when I plug it into the charger it, the Apple sign comes up for 5 seconds then disappears, it doesn't turn on or come up with the charging sign. Is it not going to work again, or is ther something I can do? Please help.
I have the same problem, and my Ipod turned off (when I held the home and power button)

When you plug it in to iTunes does it show up under devices? Try restoring it. That's the best thing you can do if you're out of warrenty
