When I click on a link in an email, nothing happens; Firefox used to open the page. I am using a Mac computer, latest OS, and the Mac mail program.

I have tried quiting Firefox and setting Safari to my default browser. Links open on Safari just fine. When I go back to Firefox as my default, I continue to have the same issue, links will not open in Firefox.

You can also quit and relaunch Firefox and then
the link will open in mac mail.

I am still having the same problem. I did what you said to do, but it didn't help. I cleared all of firefox's cache and still doesn't work.

I have not found a way for the email hypertext to go to the FaceBook App, but I no longer click on the hypertext as I know whatever information or posting it is directing me to in FaceBook will show up when I open my FaceBook App. I also have noticed that many pop-ups on the Browser don't actually know if you already have the software they are promoting.

When I click on a link from my emails it opens automatically through firefox. I want to disable this feature as I would like to go back to Chrome. I don't want to uninstall Firefox all together but I don't want it to be my main browser either.

The only way to have such links not open Firefox is to set another browser the default browser.
That MozillaZine Knowledge Base article shows how to set another browser like IE as the default browser.

AlexCarey, I've been having issues purchasing recently and place a number of calls to the support team. On Oct. 5th, and on my own decision, I went into my itunes profile and re-entered my credit card expiration date and security code. (Notice, it is not displayed for safety measures.) Today, I received an email from Apple support verifying if I made changes made to my account. For the heck of it, I logged back into itunes; click "Buy". Two instances of Firefox open when I click on a link within my email client. How can I stop this from happening?

I am running on an iMac OS X 10.6.3 using Firefox 3.6.3 as my default browser and I use Postbox 1.1.5 as my email client. Anytime I click on a link within an email message two instances of Firefox open, one with my home page and one with the site the link was meant for. This happens only when Firefox is not already open. If Firefox is running and a link is clicked on it opens normally within the open instance of Firefox. I have contacted Postbox and am currently awaiting a response to see if they have any suggestions. While this is not a serious issue it is a bit annoying. I have Firefox set to open new links in tabs not new instances of windows, so it shouldn't be that. Any help in getting this to stop would be greatly appreciated.

I updated Firefox yesterday to 3.6.9. When I receive a URL link in an email within Outlook, I cannot open the link in Firefox. As I said in the question, when I click on the link, a Microsoft Office Outlook error message appears which states that a General failure has occurred in sending the command to the application (which is Firefox). I am using Office 2007 This did not occur prior to the upgrade of Firefox.

Why,when I click on a link it can not be located & Firefox stops working?

All of a sudden, when I click on a link in an email (Outlook for the Mac 2011), it doesn't open in Firefox. Firefox widow pulls up, but no new tab. Microsoft says that since it pulls up Firefox, it isn't Outlook's fault.

I am not exactly sure why the menu did not detect the password change or if it was stored incorrectly after you changed it?
