when I could open iPhoto the library had tripled... photos from years ago from my iPhone and iPhoto had somehow come back onto it (even though I deleted them), the "faces" files had turned into their own photos, photos tripled (some smaller versions some bigger), and loads of random clip art and images I had never seen was on it. There was over 40,000 photos. It was so weird
Nothing weird. That happens when you import one iPhoto Library into another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
As for deletions:
Drag the image from the Event to the iPhoto Trash. Empty it. Then Empty the System Trash. That removes it from the hard disk.
If that has failed in the past it was due to the Library being corrupted.

I'm getting an error message when I try the click on a link in an email. No associated application could be found. How do I fix this problem?
Is this a one-off or a general problem? If a one-off, is it a link to a web page or something else? If not a web page, try control-clicking on it and choosing to download the linked file. This will at least access the file though it might be to something you don't have an application to open with. If you do this, what sort of file do you get? - select it and hit command-i to get information on it.

my app store will not open. when i try to open it i get an error that reads "You can't open the application App Store because it may be damaged or incomplete". How can I fix this?
I am having the exact same problem. MacForums has been helping me, and I called Apple. After trying everyone's suggestions, and Apple's, no success.
My App Store app still says "incomplete or damaged." There is even a circle with a line through it on the icon. Apple said reinstall my Snow Leopard upgrade disc (not my original Leopard disc) and then run the Combo Update (like your suggestion). Did not work. I also updated the software from "Software Update". Rebooted.
I think this started after I replaced my hard drive with a SSD and moved the hard drive to where the DVD was. I wonder if the person above who had the same problem also installed a SSD?
Anyway, anymore ideas? Even Apple is stumped.
(In answer to the other post above, my Quicktime works fine.)

Just did some more reading. I was going by the icon in the dock. When I checked in Finder, there it was, fixed and brand new!! Thanks, anyway.

I just installed MacOS X Yosemite on my MacBook Air 2011. After installing Yosemite I installed the Photoshop Elements 12.1 upgrade, but now when I open the program and try to use the tools, the program freezes. How do I fix this problem?
If you use a trackpad and don't want to switch to a mouse, you can uninstall and reinstall all day long and will still have problems, but if you really want to try it, you can download PSE 12 here:

First and foremost, I have to remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment has been discontinued and is no longer supported. On top of this, it has known unpatched bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum security, stability, performance and usability. In any case, and since you seem to be in the process of updating (you should have done so a while ago, since Firefox 2.0 has been discontinued years ago, I believe), your problems may exist because you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. Have you done a reboot? (holding the on/off and Home button at same time until the Apple logon appears.)
Also, have you tried closing all apps? (double click Home button and swipe up with your finger.)

Regarding iMessage, when i want to send text to a person in my contacts app, i've been getting a message saying the number has not been registered with iMessage. How can one fix this problem? It works on the iPhone.
It takes two to tango, maybe it's your recipient that has weak Internet/Cellular connections.

I just purchase my ipad2 2 days ago. yesterday, there was a sound. today there is no sound. there is a sound only in movies and you tube and music. but no sound on all apps and keyboards. I look it up and seems like ther are few that have this problem. I called walmart coz I bought it there and they told me that they have not heard that before but if I can't fix it, just return it and exchange it with anew one since I have 14 days to do that. I downloaded the new iOS 6 for my iphone 4. I have 2 iphones on my account and after the "upgrade" text messages go to both phones. When I send a text to my wife I recieve the same text and vise versa. How can I fix this?
"Sounds like you guys are using the same apple id for imessage. You will need to create a separate id for you wife. OR go to settings - message - receive&send and make sure your phone number is the default for both you and yoru wife.
