When I double click a PS file, it opens PS but not the file. Why?

Since I purchased CS5, I've found that double clicking, or dragging to the Ps (or Ai) icon in the dock will only open the program, but not the file. I then have to go back and double click the file again to bring it up. I've looked in preferences but cannot find a way to resolve this. A friend who also has CS5 does not have this problem.

Have you updated your OS lately?
Are you on a Mac or a PC?
That behavior usually is sign of a file vital for Photoshop (and some other Adpobe apps too) missing.
I've published an old Adobe technote about that here http://www.ninisworld.com/thecorner/tutorials/photoshopopen.html including also the file needed on a Mac.
If you are on a PC I have no solution to suggest.

If nothing is showing in the Toolbar at top, click the little gray oval at top right.
Right click or Control+click on the Toolbar, choose Customize Toolbar, drag the Send button to the Toolbar.

Bridge will do the job. View > Sort > ByType. Then you can choose a group of one type and put the files in a separate folder.

Lightroom open Photoshop CC but not the files

When in Lightroom and I click on lets say 3 selected photos and want to open them in Photoshop HDR Pro or as layers, it opens CC fine but not the files. Any ideas? It's the same problem in open in CC as layers or Panorama. None of the files open in CC.

photosbyfry, jonhillenbrand, Many users have reported the same issue and we are working on a fix.
In the mean while, i would suggest you to follow the suggestions mentioned under the below article and check if that helps.

Yes there is a rotation lock setting.
First try the switch above the volume rocker. If that doesnt work then double click the home button. It should display a multitasking bar at the bottom of the screen. Slide that to the right and it should display a few settings including screen lock. Make sure that it is unchecked.

In iTunes 11 uncheck the preferences setting in in the iTunes Preferences panel "Advanced > Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library"

Give this a try:
1 -be sure to have a current backup of the iPhoto library.
2 - download and launch http://www.macchampion.com/arbysoft/BatChmod.
3 - click on the File button, locate and select your iPhoto Library.
4 - check the Unlock and Apply to enclosed checkboxes.
5 - make no changes to the other checkboxes
6 - click on the Apply button.

Document library: user can see the metadata but not the file itself

Hello,
For a specific document library certain users will have the right to see the metadata but not the file itself. The only solution I can think of is using a http handler. But I don't know if I can get the user that requests the document.
Are there any other approaches to this requirement?
Can I get the username of the user that makes that request?
I guess that http handler is deployed at the Web application level - am I right?

I think this this is not a strong protection. Everybody can istall sp designer or go through UNC path, like \\myserver\documentlibray or \\myserver\lists\mylist and see the documents- and we use unc paths a lot. I don't want to get into trouble when a (wiki)
leak is made.

I would try adjusting the speed of double clicking to see if that helps:
To open the preferences, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Accessibility.
Choose the Mouse & Trackpad option.
Double-click speed: Adjust the mouse or trackpad’s reaction time when you double-click an item.
