When i'm trying to open Firefox, it just won't start.. It just loads, but FF never comes up..

I'm click on the FF button, then this little loading ring on windows 7 comes up, but FF never starts.. I worked earlier, but then it come an update, and my Norton warned me for a file or something, and i choosed to delete it.. Don't know if i deleted an important file or what happend.. I'm happy for all help i can get.

Please try a clean reinstall (which won't erase user settings, bookmarks, addons, and such) by installing forefox from the website again, [[Installing Firefox]]. You might be hitting "bug" [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=564389 564389] (not actually bad programming of mozilla, rather a reminder to poke norton about it).

You can't open one Profile more than once. You need a separate Profile for each browser on each PC that you open.

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

I was updating Firefox to the newest version 7.0.1 from version 6.0.2 I think it was, I clicked the restart Firefox button that always comes up after updating. It started updating and then Firefox never restarted like it was supposed to after it was done updating. I then tried to open Firefox and it told me "This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found." I did have Firefox crash on maybe about 30 minutes or so earlier which bothered me because I have been using Firefox for years and never had it crash on me before but I didn't think much of it at the time it happened because I was able to go back onto Firefox and finish what I had been working on. A while later I checked for updates and updated. The first time I tried to update it didn't work though so I had to shutdown Firefox and reopen Firefox and start the update a second time. It was after the second time that when I tried to open Firefox I got that message about failing to start because xul.dll can't be found. I filed a crash report when my Firefox crashed. This would have been around 1am-2am in the morning that Firefox first crashed and then wouldn't allow me to open it after updating. I have a DELL laptop running the Windows XP operating system but the laptop is probably at least 6 or 7 years old. The laptop will no longer charge so I always have to have it plugged into an outlet. Both my laptop hard drive and my external hard drive give me messages that I am running out of disk space on my hard drive. I bought this laptop 6 or 7 years ago second hand so it could be even older. In short it's a piece of crap and it gives me all kinds of issues but I currently can't afford a new one, but I have never had any problems with Firefox and I use Firefox more than any other aspect of my laptop so it's really really bothering me. Yesterday I tried to open firefox and came up blank pg?? Had to use IE

I've used Firefox for 2 or 3 years without any problems. Yesterday it was slow to come up and when it did a small rectangle opened in top left corner of screen. When I clicked on middle box to expand, I had a blank screen. I've tried to open it a couple more times yesterday and again today but always get the blank screen. I want to close the bokkmarks side bar, I have tried to open firefox in safe mode but this does not help.

This morning I opened firefox as usual and found that a sidebar for bookmarks on the left side of this page. I did not request this to open and I want it removed from my computer. I do not like the way it uses up the space on the page. I have tried to open firefox in safe mode but his did not clear it. If I can not remove this sidebar I will want to close firefox.

There should be a little 'x' Close button in the top right corner of the sidebar.
Alternatively, Ctrl + B will close it too.

Firefox won't close down all the way after watching a video. I exit out, and the sound continues. When I try to re-open firefox, I get a message about how I have to restart my computer. How do I fix this?

Basically whenever I watch a video and I exit out of the video I have to restart my computer to get Firefox back open. If I exit out or go to a new page while the video is playing, the audio continues like nothing has happened. I've checked my task manager and it shows that Firefox is closed. Try holding control, alt and delete down in succession and then a dialogue box will appear with windows task manager. Once open click on the Processes Tab and look for firefox.exe. Highlight this and then click end process. It should come up with a warning but just click Yes. This should then close firefox and allow you to reopen it from your desktop without shutting down your computer. Hope this helps.

Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.

No error messages. It acts totally normal but just never reopens when I try to reopen a new catalog. I create a catalog for each of my clients....I have done this since I started using lightroom as it seems tidy to me. But, I have never had this problem until now. I am using a pc and vista and Lightroom 4. Thanks.
