When I open a new window with firefox I very briefly get a blue screen every time before the page loads. I have already upadated my graphics driver but no difference.

This started today after my mail account was compromised.

Dos it help if you disable hardware acceleration?
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • I am forced into facebook when I open a new window in firefox

When I press the + sign to open a new window in firefox the new window opens with a facebook registration scheme. I do not use facebook and have no intention to use it, so I do not want this page. This started with the new upgrade a few days ago. At the same time I also got problems with other things in firefox.
Does anyone know how I can get rid of the facebook registry page?

    Hi tomab,
By default Firefox opens a blank tab when you hit the tab button. The fact that is shows an actual page leads me to believe that you have an add-on or something else causing your issue. I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Is there a way to open a new window with one site when the home setting on Firefox has multiple websites?

While working in Firefox is there a way to open a new window with one site when the home setting on Firefox has multiple websites?

I guess I'm not explaining myself fully. I have a home page designation in firefox preferences that starts firefox up with 5 sites. that pretty fills up my screen with tabs.
At some point I want to initiate another WINDOW in firefox (NOT a tab). I would like to be able to open up a window that ONLY has ONE tab, or as if there were only one site designated as the home page. This gives me a workspace that has my most useful sites available in tabs in one window, and also another WINDOW that I can move around in and even create more tabs without messing up my primary set of TABS (in my primary window). I see how this might not be doable without doing what I do now, which is open up a new window, and then close tabs until the new window just has one tab for me to work from.

  • When I try to open a new window in Firefox, I get an error message

When I try to open a new window in Firefox, I get the following error message:
    "Not Found
The requested URL /en-US/firefox was not found on this server."
...but other websites, such as Google or CNN.com, work just fine.
I'm running Firefox 3.6.28 on my MacBook Pro, with OS 10.4.11. I can't update to the latest version of Firefox unless I update my OS, which would be costly and also involve increasing my RAM.
But the Firefox homepage worked fine until this morning. Is this likely to be a temporary glitch? If not, how can I fix it?
    Thanks,
    Emmy

At least at the moment, the default Firefox homepage is back! So maybe this was a momentary glitch. But see below.
BTW, here's the URL for the page:
    http://start.mozilla.org/en-US/?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official
'''But, '''the "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" currently lacks a menu bar at the top with various Google options such as "Gmail," "more," etc. I found these very useful.
I'm wondering -- did Google tell Mozilla to stop including those links on its start page? Maybe Google wants us all to switch to having Google as our default homepage. Or is the lack of a menu bar just another temporary glitch?

  • When I open a new windox in Firefox 3.6.10 on Windows XP, it opens not only a new window, but all my existing tabs reopen in the new window too--how do I fix this?

Whenever I open a new window in Firefox, it not only opens a new window with a new tab, it also opens all my existing tabs a second time in the new window. This has been happening for several days. Closing Firefox and rebooting doesn't solve the problem.
A related problem is that if I close all tabs and close Firefox, then reboot and re-open Firefox, all the tabs that were closed re-open too.
This is new behavior in Firefox in my experience.

Firefox opens the home pages in a new window, so if you want to open a new window blank then you need to set the home page to about:blank
You can check the startup setting:<br />
Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my home page" | "Show a blank page"

  • When I open a new window, it doesn't attach itself to the bottom toolbar? I'm using XP Pro and Firefox 6.0.2.

It's explained pretty well in my initial question. Not sure what else you would need in the way of details.
I will say it's been going on for a month or so, and it happens every time I start Firefox, and every time I open a new window.

Thank you for taking the time to leave an answer for me, Poochie1. I really appreciate your attempt at helping me.
Unfortunately, as smart as I thought I was when I asked the question, I apparently wasn't that smart, because I didn't explain my problem so you'd know what the heck I was talking about.
I think it's because I'm probably not using the correct terminology. I'll try again.
When I open a new window, it just kind of floats on the screen. Before this new update, I could open a window and it was lined up with the start taskbar located at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes the new window will cover up the taskbar partially, and sometimes completely. I have to move it up and align it with the taskbar. Then, when I open another new window, I have to line that one up with the window underneath it.
I hope that description is better than my first one, and I hope you can make some sense out of it, Poochi (and anyone else who happens by here).
Again, thank you for your help.

  • Whenever I open a new window of firefox a new tab opens with the new window. How do I get it to stop doing that?

Whenever I open a new window of Firefox, the new window opens at the hope page (like I want it to), but then a tab opens up with the new window. I want Firefox to stop doing this. When I open a new window I just want the window to open. I don't know how to fix this as I have know idea how I made this happen. This first happened when I hit control + N to open a new window, but I didn't hit the "N" cleanly. I pressed one of the other keys around the "N" and this issue started.

  • When I open a New window the window doesn't open with a blank page, it opens with my start-up page!

When I open Firefox, it opens to pages I was on when I last closed it. After that, when I open a brand new window, and I don't use a link, it isn't a blank page but instead it shows the same pages as when I started up Firefox. I don't need two windows of the very same pages! I have to delete one of two of the duplicated pages and then my url into the bar to get to the page I want. I want to have a new window with a blank page

It is the default action in Firefox to open a new window with the home page(s).
A possibility to avoid that is a bookmarks (e.g. on the Bookmarks Toolbar) with the location set to about:blank and use Shift + left-click to open a blank window or set the Home page to about:blank and use a bookmark to open the home page.

History window opens by default when i open a new window or restart firefox. How can i get rid of that ? its annoying

If the History sidebar is closed when you close Firefox and doesn't stay closed on the next start then that can be problem with the file localstore.rdf in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete localstore.rdf or rename the file to localstore.rdf.sav in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to test if the file is corrupted.<br />
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Corrupt_localstore.rdf<br />
(caution: do not delete the localstore.rdf file in the Firefox program installation folder)
    Note:<br />
Deleting the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] will reset the customizations of the toolbars to the defaults.<br />
You can rename "localstore.rdf" to "localstore.rdf.sav" to test if that solves it.<br />
Then you can restore the customization by copying "localstore.rdf.sav" to "localstore.rdf" if it didn't work.<br />

  • How can I make firefox give the focus (the cursor) to the address bar when I open a new window - as it does when I open a new tab (to about:blank)?

When I open a new tab using CTRL-T, the address/awesome bar has the focus.
When I open a new window using CTRL-N, it does not.
Can the behaviours be made consistent via setting a configuration option or key?

  • Firefox always opens a new window with ad.yieldmanager

As soon as i click on an image or other views on a website firefox opens a new tab with adyieldmanager and i cant get rid of it.

hello, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by adware/malware on your pc. please go to ''firefox > addons > extensions'' & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

I have several firefox windows open and minimized. When I try to open a new firefox window, all the minimized windows open and are displayed. I am running firefox 8. How can I correct this so that the minimized window remain minimized when I open a new window?

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly (possibly Ask.com toolbar).

  • Issue with safari when I open a new window

Every time I open a new window with safari the first page goes blank after a minute or two and I have to wait for that page to reload if want to use it.
I have my iphone since july and this problem had never been fixed with any of the firmware updates.
With this problem the option to open more than one webpage at the same time it's useless for me.
Do you guys have the same problem?

The TV commercials aren't showing real internet connections - they are running video streams of compiled data that have been enhanced using software to make it look real on tv. There is no real data connection on the tv commercial iPhones.
The real internet never works that way, even on the iPhone. If you are using EDGE for data, you can forget even basic approaches to smooth transitions from page to page -- it's better on WiFI.

  • Links that open a new window with javascript:void(null); do not work in 3.1

I've been noticing that any site I go to that opens content in a new window with "javascript:void(null);" will be ignored by Safari 3.1. The links work in Firefox and used to work in Safari as well. Any suggestions?

General rule of thumb in the Mac universe...
When Safari is updated most if not all third party add-ons break. That's because most don't play by the rules. The developer thinks they know how to do it better than Apple so they just do it their way. So the first rule of survival is to KNOW what you have installed on your machine at all times. Use something like textedit to create a document listing all of the third party stuff you have installed and religiously update the list. Second rule is to wait a few days before applying an update. Third rule is to visit your third party developers' sites and make sure their little gadget is compatible with the new Safari update.
Being aware of things will make life much easier for you in the long run.
