When i open a powerpoint, the file is not presented right

When i try to open a powerpoint, the file is opened, but not presented correctly. The background colors and pictures seem missing ( only grey color). The texts are there but in wrong fonts. In the center a small blue box with question mark appears. Strangely enough, if i forward the file to a colleque, he can open it without any problems (he uses ipad 2 and i ipad)
Any ideas?

What app are you using to open a PowerPoint file? Is the friend using the same app?

I resolved the problem. It was somehow related to my using Microsoft
theme pictures. I set Windows to use the basic theme and the problem

Server does not have a dependency on it.
CREATE DATABASE failed. Some file names listed could not be created. Check related errors. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 5184)

When I open Firefox (after upgrade) it does not show right side vertical scroller bar. I have to take the mouse and physically expand the browser to get the scroller bar to show. (never had this problem in previoius versions of firefox)

Usually the Window menu allows you to adjust window placement in Microsoft Office products.
If not, connect an external display or projector and change the resolution to the maximum.
Save the document with the window residing on the main screen with the Dock.
That will force it to open on the main screen in the future.

If I had this problem I would try the followinng:
open the PPt file in PowerPoint (or Open Office for Mac, which is a free and reliable option to MS Office) save it as a PPt file and open in Keynote
open in PPt or Open Office, save all the slides as individual TIFF files and bring those into Keynote ( builds would not work on individual text or objects on a slide but at least you have the content)

If your hard drive is getting full, you need to free up, at least, 20 GBs of space on your iMac's hard drive.
If your Mac is running a fairly recent version of OS X, here are some general guidelines.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Other things you can do to gain space.
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it run the automatic ans S.M,A.R.T. tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the tabs that have the ability to clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.

Hi! I'm having trouble opening a indd-file. It was sent to me as a zip-fil along with the used fonts and links. When I try to open the file, I'm getting this error: "Either the file does not exist, you do not have permission, or the file may be in use by another application". I've tried to look up this error both here in these forums and through google, but can't find a similar case. Hope someone can help me with this. Please let me know if you need more information/details, and I'll provide. Thanks!

I'm suspecting it to come from a mac user, if that could influence the case...
It does come from a Mac, as is proven by the fonts, which are of no use on my Windows machine, but that doesn't prevent my CS4 to open it without any problem. It seems to me it's a perfectly regular CS2 file.
Just for cheers I set the file to Read-only, but my InDesign opens it regardless (again as a copy, because it's a "converted" file).
Could it be something in your environment? No network read/write privileges, insufficient free hard disk space, stuff like that?

That file might have moved to a different location on the server. I think you'll need to check with RefWorks support or your local IT department on why the install page links do not work.

Thank you for clarify I'm supposed to read the ENTIRE article. I thought I was just supposed to read the title and magically everything will fix itself. Working in PSE 13, when I open a folder, jpeg files have a preview image, but psd files just have white sheet of paper as preview. I have to open the file to be able to see it. Also, there is no thumbnail of the file below the file list.Surely, there's a setting that needs to be changed. I did not have this problem with Elements 12. This is a real bother because I have to use Lightroom to see all the file types. It seems as if Elements is using the standard Windows file loader that can't show previews of file types it doesn't know including .PSD, DNG and CR2. Is that a bug or did I do something wrong? I am using Windows 7 64 bits. Working in the editor, I never use the organizer. The screen above is not the same at all that I got in Elements 12, it was completely different and showed me a thumbnail below the listing when I single clicked on one of the files. In Elements 12, I also could see a thumbnail of all the file types, not only the jpegs. It is as if the loader is the regular Windows used anywhere, not the right one for Elements. I hope someone understands my problem.. Thanks.
