When I open firefox 4 beta the webpage does not load and i am unable to click on any buttons or access menus

This has only started happening today. When I start firefox 4 beta it opens and begins to load my homepage (google.co.uk) but the page never fully loads and firefox freezes. I am unable to click on any buttons on the navigation bar or access menus. Keyboard shortcuts are also unresponsive.
All that I am able to do on the browser is to use the three window buttons in the top right of the screen (minimise, maximise and close).
After closing the window if I try to open it again I get a message saying that Firefox is already running, but not responding. Once going into task manager and stopping firefox under the processes tab and then restarting firefox the window again freezes as soon as it opens.
I have tried restarting my computer and reinstalling the beta but with no success. I am still able to use firefox 3.6.13 as well as chrome with no problems.
Any help would be much appreciated

I had this too. Starting firefox in safe-mode and disabling all add-ons solved the problem. After re-enabling all add-ons did not bring back the problem.

I resolved the problem. It was somehow related to my using Microsoft
theme pictures. I set Windows to use the basic theme and the problem

When I open Firefox (after upgrade) it does not show right side vertical scroller bar. I have to take the mouse and physically expand the browser to get the scroller bar to show. (never had this problem in previoius versions of firefox)

Firefox 4.0 on Mac OS 10.6.7 When I open Firefox it does not show the right vertical scroller. I have to take my mouse to the lower right corner and drag it open slightly and the scoller appears It will stay active through other tabs now until I close or shut down firefox. I have 20+ tabs always open on Firefox and it's set to remember them. However, when I open Firefox the first tab changes from what I had open there into my homepage, Google. I can use the "go backward" thing to get to the page I had there, but since it goes back to Google every time I restart the browser that gets tedious.
The only way to solve this that I've found is to just stop trying to use the first tab and let it be Google. However, I'd like some actual solution that stops this from happening if possible.

My tabs are normal and unpinned, I just have Firefox set to open all my current tabs. Safe Mode didn't seem to have this issue, so I disabled Classic Theme Restorer. Several restarts didn't have problems, so I enabled it again and now this isn't happening anymore. Hopefully it stays gone for good and didn't just stop momentarily.
Edit. So as soon as I posted this, it started happening again. More testing definitely points to Classic Theme Restorer as the cause, so I'll have to investigate solutions on that end.

This issue can be caused by an extension (AVG Safe Search can cause this) that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I have already checked the compatibility with Safari, my operating system and checked my firewall is not blocking it - all is fine.

Hi.
That is happening (most likely) because Firefox is not storing your browsing history for long, or at all. Go into Tools > Options > Privacy and make sure the configurations are set as you want them to be. If they are, it's likely you have some security software that's erasing your Firefox's history (and possible other browsers' if you have them installed). The most likely suspects are antiviruses, firewalls and security suites, but clean-up utilities like CCleaner are also capable of cleaning Firefox's browsing history and other personal data. Make sure you don't have them configured to do so.
I should remind you, however, that some sites (they are rare, though) don't have their links change color when visited. That happens only when their authors deliberately make them not change the colors. You can force websites to use a color scheme of your choice by going into Tools > Options > Content > Colors... and unticking "Allow pages to choose their own colors". You can also configure the color scheme in that screen.

Map does not load and screen stays partially blank

There is a link on a website that I use for work that loads a map on a new tab. That link was working fine with the previous version of Firefox. But ever since I installed the latest Firefox version available, the link leads to a new tab with partial information but the map does not load and the area where it was supposed to load stays blank. Hi, are you saying that you start Firefox and it stalls -- you can see it in the Task Manager but it never displays -- but if you kill that process and start Firefox again it starts up properly that second time?
If you look at the statistics available in the Task Manager's processes tab such as bytes read or other bytes, can you see whether Firefox is doing anything at all? ''Note: You might need to add columns if your Processes tab isn't set up to display statistics. You can do that from the View menu.''

When I drag firefox on to a second screen the screen does not repaint and I can not use it

I have two screens on a desktop. One screen is vga the second is connected via usb. When I open firefox on the primary screen and move it onto the second screen it is un-useable. The window appears but I can not type in any of the fields for search, webpage address, tab,s tools,help etc. any ideas?

These "weird" sounds you hear are from pacman.
Today is Pacmans 30:th birthday and google wanted to celebrate by making the pacman game playable at their website "www.google.com".
You will notice that their logo is changed to pacman with the map swapped out to the text "google".

Most people have no problems with installing firefox as an upgrade, but there are quite a few things that can cause problems. Please have a look at the articles

Post back after you read them and say what you tried. Have you ensured you used an admin account, possibly needing to check the UAC setting, and that security software is not blocking the changes. You should certainly try starting in firefox's [[safe mode]] either from a menu/icon option or by holding the shift key as you attempt to run firefox.
Is the browser icon you see on the desktop, and a firefox icon ?

When typing an address in the location bar and pressing enter, nothing happens and the site does not load. How can I fix this?

When I type a new URL in the address bar (or location bar), and I either type the complete URL or select from the drop down list, nothing happens. I hit enter, and the website does not load in the current tab, new tab nor in a new window. Exactly the same when I hit the green arrow to the right of the address bar. I am using Firefox 8, and all my add-ins are up to date.
It has been working before. The setting to get Firefox to open new pages in a new tab from the address bar is there, so it should open a new tab. But I get nothing at all!
