When I open lightroom I get an error message that says it needs to quit...???
When I open Lighroom I immediately get an error message that pops up that says 'Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit. Lightroom will attempt to fix this problem the next time it launches.' When you click ok the box goes away and windows attempts to fix the problem. Then I get a second error box that days the programme has stopped working and windows will notify me if a solution is available. I have tried restarting and updating the computer. I have checked that I have the most up-to-date Lightroom (version 5.7.1). I don't want to uninstall to redownload the software as I have 'work in progress' that I haven't exported yet.
Help please!
Delete the Preview Cache folder. It is in the same folder the catalog is in. Usually in your UserName folder.

Make a back up now. If you have any vaule in Your photos always have a back up.
Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
In Library Manager the Rebuild command is under the File menu. There's also an excellent Help available.

When I try to open iPhoto, I get an error message that says it can't open the application because it may be damaged or incomplete.
Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Opening iphoto I get an error message that says "you can't open your current photo library using this version of iphoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iphoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iphoto." I wouldn't have a clue as to how to change to a new version of iphoto even if I wanted to.
If you don't have a backup you can resort to give this a try:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Open the library package like this.
2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note: your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

It looks like you're actually using a camera or phone to take a photo of your monitor.
That's not what is commonly known as a "screen shot".
It looks like you're on a Mac. Hitting Command+Shift+3 places a capture of the contents of your entire monitor on your Desktop; hitting Command+Shift+4 will give you a cross-hairs cursor for you to select just the portion you want to capture.
I'm mentioning this because I fear I'm not construing your original post correctly when you type "I am working with a large files [sic], currently it has 149 layers, all of which are high resolution photographs", so I'm wondering if there's some similar use of your own idiosyncratic nomenclature in your description of your troublesome file.
Perhaps I'm just having a major senior moment myself, but I'm utterly unable to imagine such a file. Would you mind elaborating? -
'm trying to activate my Airport Express to a wireless network powered by an Airport Extreme. I get an error message that says I need to Use Airport Utility 5.6. My system is currently running Airport Utility 6.1
Is your AirPort Express an older 802.11g model? If so, you will need to install v5.6 if you are running OS X Lion or 5.6.1 if running OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard. Unfortunately, the iOS version of the AirPort Utility cannot administer these older base stations.

Norton is probably the issue. It can really screw things up, that is one reason I never use it. See if you can temporarily disable it and then try the sync and see if that works.
On a Mac, there is a way to run a program that repairs permissions for the user, not a Windows thing. -
I cannont reset my photostream, when I attempt to do so I get an error message that says, " Your Photostream could not be reset at this time due to server error" Any Ideas?

When I open bookmarks I get an error message that a script has stopped or is busy
When I try and access my bookmarks I get an error message that a script has either stopped running or is busy. My choices are continue or stop script. The only way I can get to the bookmarks is to stop the script. Is there a fix for this?

When I plug my iPhone 4s into my PC, I get a message that says iTunes needs a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. It wants me to uninstall both the AMDS and iTunes and then reinstall iTunes. iTunes won't recognize my phone and so I can't synch it. Has anyone else run into this problem recently and how did you resolve it? Thanks!

I am trying to login to a website and every time I go to login I get a message that says "You need cookies for this site. Please enable cookies." I've checked cookies and they're enabled, I even put that specific website on allow. I searched for information on how to correct this error and did all that it said, yet I still get this message.
I have the exact same problem! With just one website. It's when I have a second account on it. I can sign in with my original (old) account, but not with my new account that I wish to sign in on. I've talked to a lot of people members of the website who have second accounts and this doesn't happen with them, it's only with my firefox. I've done everything I can to enable cookies, 3rd party cookies, no exceptions, etc.
But it must be something to do with my computer because I did the same thing on Internet Explorer and Google Chrome and it's exactly the same. :/ -

I am getting a error message that says I need upgrade Quicktime 7.5.5
but then when I access a download site and run the download, I get a text edit mess and not a download of software. How can I get a Quicktime update so that I can use iTunes (the whole program is stopped)
When I try to start up iTunes, I get the 'need to upgrade to Quicktime 7.5.5' error message. So no iTunes. I've tried several download sites and none will download. Some say my computer is too old (I have OS 10.5 so this shouldn't be a problem) and others just download symbols. Do you have a fix?
