When I place a pdf file into a PM7 document it is blurry.

I have two pdf files that I want to place on the same page of a PM7 document, but the images show up very blurry. What gives? Why would a pdf file not show up crystal clear in a PM document?

There is a learning curve but you need to be aware that PM has ZERO
support for PDFs with transparency. You were fortunate this time. Next
time, probably not.
If you are interested in learning InDesign this book is the best on the

Keep in mind that InDesign is part of Creative Cloud. You can buy CS6
but it's $700. A subscription to a single CC app is $20/month with an

You might want to consider other alternatives such as open source
scribus or the very reasonably priced Serif PagePlus.

  • Icon issues when embed pdf file into a word document

    I recently updated my Acrobat Reader on my laptop with windows 2010 and no every time I need to embed a PDF file into a word document the ICON for the pdf file is not correct, I have to browse manually everytime and it is becoming very time consuming, specially when you need to embed large amount of documents.
    This problem it only happens with PDF files, I uninstalled office and the adobe acrobat reader and the problem continues, according to Microsoft support the problem is not word but the Adobe Reader, I do not know what to do since I tried everything on the internet.
    It looks to me that somehow when I updated my reader the link between the Reader and Office is broken and office is not correctly linked to the right folder were the PDF reader Icon is located.

    You can rebuild the icon database on your windows Vista/Windows 7 system by doing this:
    1) rename the hidden file named IconCache.db to IconCache-old.db.  this file is hidden so you may need to unhide it.  the file is in your profile folder <%userprofile%\AppData\Local> %userprofile% represents the path to user profile folder.
    Now Close all folder windows that are currently open and follow these steps.
    1. Launch Task Manager using the CTRL+SHIFT+ESC key sequence, or by running taskmgr.exe.
    2. In the Process tab, right-click on the Explorer.exe process and select End Process.
    3. Click the End process button when asked for confirmation.
    4. From the File menu of Task Manager, select New Task (Run…)
    5. Type EXPLORER.EXE, and click OK.
    Hope this helps and let us know if it worked or not.  If this doesn't work then File Association may be another method to try.
    Good luck.

    Have converted pdf file into a word document. How do I engage the edit option?
    jnicholasperkins@

    Not stupid you! To, from PDF--it gets confusing!
    To edit a PDF file, you need to use Acrobat. Depending on how much work needs to be done to the PDF, it may make sure sense to edit in Word, and then reconvert to PDF. Acrobat doesn't function as a word processor, so while limited changes to the text should be fine, extensive updates may not yield the results you're looking for.
    That said, if you don't have Acrobat, you are welcome to try it for free for 30 days. For more information, see www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

  • Place multiple PDF files (or a folder of PDF files) into one InDesign document

    Hi,
    I know there are several scripts to place multipage Pdf's in InDesign.
    Based on those scripts I made one myself which places a PDF file with multiple pages as an InLine graphic where the name of the PDF file is inserted as a heading.
    Works great. But when I want to import 20 PDF files I have to run that script 20 times which isn't handy.
    So I'm looking for a way to choose a folder in which are several PDF-files that will be placed inside 1 ID doc.
    Any suggestions?

    Use .selectDlg():
    function getPDFs(){
        var f = someFolder.selectDlg ('Select a folder')
        if (f != null){
            return f.getFiles('*.pdf');
        return [];

  • Why, when I have two PDF file open, is one document faded out?

    Hi All
    I was wondering if someone out there could maybe help me?
    I’m having problems with opening documents in Adobe Acrobat Pro. When I have one PDF file open and I open another one, the one opened later has kind of a grey/black film making it difficult to read.
    I was wondering if maybe anybody out there has had similar problem? Or maybe you know what can cause this?
    Thank you in advance
    Pete

    Which version of Acrobat and which version of Windows do you have?

  • How to place CADD (DWG) files into an InD document

    I am going to be receiving CADD drawing which have to be placed in my document.  Traditionally  CADD are "DWG" files.  Can I receive them as DWG  and import or place them.  Must they be "Photoshopped" first and changed to a TIFF file.  I do not see any mention of this kind of file in InD or in Photoshop.  Is receiving them as an already changed to PDF the only other option?  Is there something in Illustrator that might be helpful.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the extra info-I would not have remembered to do that- Not operating in the Corel world now-but that is exactly what I had to do often when I was away from the main frame.
    Many thanks for your well thought out help.

  • Script for Place PDF file into a InDesign file

    Hi everyone, i need to import a PDF file into a InDesign document and in order to do this i used scripts found over  the net (e.g. Zanelli's script ecc.) but i tried this solution:
    function(){
        app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.interactWithAll;
        var myDocument, myPage;
        if(app.documents.length != 0){
            myDocument = app.activeDocument;
        else{
            alert("No document opened");
            exit();
         if (app.selection[0] == undefined) {
            alert("Select box");
            exit();
         } else {
                var myPDFFile = File.openDialog("Select PDF:");
                if((myPDFFile != "")&&(myPDFFile != null)){
                    myDocument.viewPreferences.rulerOrigin = RulerOrigin.PAGE_ORIGIN;
                    myDocument.viewPreferences.horizontalMeasurementUnits = MeasurementUnits.MILLIMETERS;
                    myDocument.viewPreferences.verticalMeasurementUnits = MeasurementUnits.MILLIMETERS;
                    var myData = new Array;
                    myData[0] = app.selection[0].parentPage;
                    myData[1] = app.selection[0].geometricBounds;
                    myData[2] = app.selection[0];
                    myPlacePDF(myDocument, myData, myPDFFile);
        //FUNCTIONS
        function myPlacePDF(myDocument, myData, myPDFFile){
            var myPDFPage;
            var myPage = myData[0];
            var myGeometricBounds = myData[1].toString().split(",");
            app.pdfPlacePreferences.pdfCrop = PDFCrop.cropMedia;
            var myCounter = 1;
            var myBreak = false;
            while(myBreak == false){
                if(myCounter > 1){
                    myPage = myDocument.pages.add(LocationOptions.after, myPage);
                 app.pdfPlacePreferences.pageNumber = myCounter;
                 myRectangle = myPage.rectangles.add(undefined, undefined, undefined, {geometricBounds:[myGeometricBounds[0],myGeometricBounds[1],myGeometricBounds[2],myGeometricBounds[3]]});
                 myRectangle.clearFrameFittingOptions();
                 myRectangle.frameFittingOptions.fittingOnEmptyFrame = EmptyFrameFittingOptions.PROPORTIONALLY;
                 myRectangle.frameFittingOptions.autoFit = true;
                 myRectangle.frameFittingOptions.fittingAlignment = AnchorPoint.CENTER_ANCHOR;
                 myPDFPage = myRectangle.place(File(myPDFFile), false)[0];
                 if(myCounter == 1){
                    var myFirstPage = myPDFPage.pdfAttributes.pageNumber;
                else{
                    if(myPDFPage.pdfAttributes.pageNumber == myFirstPage){
                        myPage.remove();
                        myBreak = true;
                myCounter = myCounter + 1;
             myData[2].remove();
    what i would is, before the script place every single page of PDF file in the document, determine if the same page of the Pdf file is vertical or horizontal, to make the right section for the page.
    Is it possible?
    Thank you

  • Letters and numbers are being deleted when I import a PDF file to my catalogue

    I have a business catalogue that I change from time to time. I will make the changes in MS Word 2003 and then convert the document to a PDF file. I will then import the PDF file to my catalogue. Recently when I have impurted the PDF file I have noticed that letters on pages above the inserted PDF file and letters below the inserted PDF file will be missing. I recently updated my Acrobat Reader from 8.0 to 9.0, so maybe that is an issue.

    How are you converting the documents to PDF ? Are you using Acrobat, if so, which version of Acrobat?
    Also, what exactly do you mean when you "import the PDF file into my catalog". Which software are you importing the PDF into?

  • Place a PDF file in IDCS2

    I have begun to get a error message "failed to open PDF" when placing a pdf file into a ID document.
    This started suddenly so I assume some preference setting got changed, but I am at a loss of where to turn next.
    I am running IMAC G5 using OSX10.4.1
    I did a uninstall and reinstall of IDCS2 and that had no effect on the problem.
    Any suggestions?

    I've seen that on occasion but restarting ID was enough to fix it. If
    that's not the case, try trashing your preferences.
