When I send a text message from my iphone sometimes the recipient receives it twice...why does this happen.
Why is it that when I send a text message, sometimes the recipient receives it twice. It doesn't happen every time.
I am having this same problem. Sometimes it sends from my phone number, sometimes it sends from my gmail. Under my messages settings it says "receive messages at 2 addresses" and when I click on that I try to remove the gmail address from there but the option to delete that email address is grayed out so I can't click on it.
I discovered this was happening because I am in a group imessage with 2 friends. They told me that for some reason the group convos were split into 2 different conversations in their message list. And we discovered it's because in one group the messages are coming from my phone number, and in the other group it is coming from my gmail address.
I don't mind RECEIVING iMessages at both my phone number and my gmail - but I want control over which one is being used when I SEND iMessages.

On both devices when you go to settings>messages>send and recieve how are poeple contacting you on each device?. e.g. email or mobile number.

Go into Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, look and see what has a checkmark by it. If it is just the phone number, then it will just go to the phone. You need to have the Apple ID checked for it to go to the iPad.

You are both signed ointo iMessage with the same APple ID. It is always best practice to use separate APple IDs for iCloud, iMessage & FaceTime.
If you choose to use the same Apple ID, check your Send & Recieve settings:
Settings > Messages > Send & Recieve > Make sure your husbands number is not checked on your phone (in both the You Can Be Reached By iMessage At and Start New Conversations From sections) and yours is not check on his phone. -

When I send a text message, daughter's iphone records as also sending. I have an iphone 4 and she has an iphone 5. We both recently updated to ios 7. This problem did not happen before the update.
Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and tap to clear the check mark next to your phone number on her phone and her phone number on your phone. That should stop the dual posting.

When I send a Group message from my address book, the entire group gets listed in the "To" line. How do I get each member to receive the message individually without listing all members? Its just messy is all. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the question. You can actually configure this behavior from Mail preferences:
1. Choose Preferences from the Mail menu.
2. Click Composing.
3. Deselect the checkbox for "When sending to a group, show all member addresses".
When you send an email to the group, only the groups name will be seen.

I've sent psd files to various people without issues, however you might want to try something like www.filedropper.com to make sure it's not that they can't open your version of psd file.
You may also want to zip the file using the built in archiving software, simply right click (or control click) the file and choose Compress ...., then you can email it to the person as a compressed archive. That should preserve all the aspects of the file properly without any modifications. -

Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both of your phones; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address on one of your devices, on the other phone tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID (so both phones are using a different Apple ID for iMessage). Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores. It does not need to be the same as the ID you are using for iMessage, FaceTime and other services. -

I had to recently reinstall mavericks to my MacBook and suddenly I haven't been able to receive text messages from iphone users on my iphone. I can send them but not receive them. Recently I was able to receive a text from an iphone user who turned off his imessages before he texted me. That came through. Of course, this would be difficult to ask every iphone user i know to turn off imessages in order text me. I've also tried to turn off my imessage on my macbook, iphone and ipad and still can't receive them. Lastly, I've also tried resetting my networking settings and that didn't help either. Any suggestions???
I am having the same problem minus the fact that I don't have a Mac computer I just can't receive any messages from iPhone users and I can't turn my iMessage back on at all it keeps just turning it off every time I try to turn it on. any help would be greatly appreciated.

This problem is even occuring as I type this information. I tried to click a "show details" button and it didn't work. The tab "opened" but I couldn't get the page to switch to the tab after clicking on it.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.

When I send a text message on my iPhone 4s to my two children with non-smart phones, the message comes through blank. If I send it to each one individually, it will go through ok. Is this a problem with my phone or it is something I am doing wrong.
Check your phone to make sure MMS is turned on. If it is, check with your cell provider and make sure your phone is provisioned correctly.
