When I send a text to people, it says my iPod is a "goPhone" and gives no identification of me. Please help.

If you are using the Apple Messaging app that use the information yo have in your contact app for the email address you use for Messaging.
If you are using another app it depends on the app.

Thank you for the help. Every app on my phone was downloaded using my old I-tunes ID. I just hope that they will re-download under my new ID because I still can't change it on my phone. In order to change to the new ID it says I have to sign out from the old ID and change to the new one. My problem is that I don't remember my password to be able to sign out from my old ID. Then the phone says it can change my password through e-mail and I agree but I never get an e-mail at my old address or the new one.

Try downloaded the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 standalone updater and installing it.

I restored my setting and imessage started working normally for a while and it sent people with imessage as a blue text instead of green text but than it went back to green.
Hi,
The Name at the "To" spot should become a drop down and this should show you the various ways you can connect to them.
A "Chat" with someone can then switch between the various options if they have several ways.
As @mac.com and other Apple issued ID can also be AIM valid Screen Names you sometimes have to take a little care.
If you have made it to be an AIM chat though it should not switch back to iMessages even if that was the last method they used to contact you.
I find in Mavericks (that I am currently booted into) I can double click the Buddy Line in the Buddy List (And I have my Buddy List separate) the Chat will take on the AIM item in the text field.
This was an iMessages conversation before this.
I presume this still works in Yosemite.

When I send a text a icloud email address shows instead of my name?
When I send a text to people and icloud email address shows up instead of just my name. Where in the settings do I go to stop that from happening?
Settings>Messages>Send & Receive. Make sure you are signed in with your Apple ID and that you phone number appears under "You can be reached by iMessage at" and "Start new conversations from". Then tap your phone number under "Start new conversations from" so it is checked.

When I send a text to my email, my wifes phone recives it as an iMessage.
After setting up all 3 of our iPhone 3GS phones on iCloud so we could us ehte find my phone feature an anoying thing happened. When I send a text message to my email address my son's phone and my wifes phone recive that message as a text message. Also when she texts me I recive it as if it is coming from my email address. I went threw my contacts any my email is not associated with her contact.
After a trip to the apple store we found out that suposedly it was because we all share the same iTunes account. So I created an apple ID for my wife and my son and set the iCloud to use thier respective accounts. It appears that my sons phone does have the issue anymore but my wife and my phone still have the issue.
A side note, my Son's phone when plugged into the computer (windows 7) pops up labled his phone. When my phone or my wifes phone is plugged in it just says Apple iPhone. It doesn't show our iPhones name. iTunes does show the proper name though.
This is a very anoying thing and I would love to get it resolved with out having to go back to the apple store.Have a look here...

I recently upgraded to iOS 6 and am being told by my contacts that when I send a text they receive it from my email address (in their messaging app) and not from my phone number.
I have checked the send/receive settings in Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, the phone is set to send/receive default from my phone, yet the email sends it first.
I have removed and re added the email address, but have had no luck resolving the problem.
Has anyone else had the same problem? Is there a way I can stop it without turning off iMessage?

You can't do that. Only the sending number is transmitted by the carrier with an SMS message. If the recipient has you in their address book, with most smart phones and some others, the name will display, but that's a function of the phone on the receiving end.

I downloaded the new iOS 6 for my iphone 4. I have 2 iphones on my account and after the "upgrade" text messages go to both phones. When I send a text to my wife I recieve the same text and vise versa. How can I fix this?
"Sounds like you guys are using the same apple id for imessage. You will need to create a separate id for you wife. OR go to settings - message - receive&send and make sure your phone number is the default for both you and yoru wife.

When I send a text message I do not get any confirmation that it has been delivered. Is there any way of getting an automated message confirmation delivery and time? I was used to this with my old phone and need to know that my text message has been delivered to the recipient's phone, and when.
Thanks. So there's no means of knowing whether a text message has been delivered, not to mention time of delivery. Perhaps I've gone for the wrong phone. It might do a lot but seems to miss out on some basics.
