When I sync'd my new iPhone5 with my Macbook Pro, I lost a lot of functionality. How do I get the full capability I saw on the new iPhone 5 before I put my old iPhone4 stuff on it?
Brought my new iPhone 5 home but it was not compatible with iTunes. ITunes update said it was up to date. Realized I needed to upgrade OS system to Snow Leapord. Did this, then updated iTunes, and I was able to put my back up (from iPhone4) on my new iPhone 5. As soon as I did this, I noticed numerous functions missing that were present before I sync'd it. (LIke an ability to install short cuts when texting and allowing certain numbers to call in when I have DO NOT DISTURB selected). How can I regain the full functionality of my new iPhone 5? It only has what my iPhone 4 had on it.
Okay, that is the latest iOS. As far as shortcuts are concerned, they should be available. Go to Settings, General, Keyboard, Shortcuts. You should find the settings and area to enter new ones there. The area to set what numbers to receive calls from in DND mode are in Settings, Notifications, Do Not Disturb, and then then Allow Calls From.

When I sync my iPhone5 with my Macbook Pro I get the following message "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected". The strange this is that the phone did not disconnect because it sync my contacts and is charging.

If you are referring to the first generation Apple TV, then you cannot sync content which is stored on its hard drive back to iTunes. -

It seems you have a network conflict that isn't allowing your MacBook Pro to connect to the internet. This may be caused by both computers sharing identical network settings. You may want to consider creating a new network location on your MacBook Pro to assign new network settings. The following article will instruct you on how to do that:
OS X Yosemite: Add a network location
A network location is a group of network settings
A network location is a group of network settings for your various network services (Ethernet or Wi-Fi for example).
If you often change network settings, you may find switching between locations quicker and easier than repeatedly modifying individual groups of settings.
For example, you might want to make a location for “home,” where you connect to the Internet with a telephone modem, and a location for “office,” where you connect to your company network and the Internet using Ethernet or AirPort.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.
Click the Location pop-up menu, choose Edit Locations, then click Add .
Enter a name for the location, then click Done.
Enter settings for each network connection service you want to use in that location.
After you create your locations, you can switch all of your network settings by clicking the Location pop-up menu and choosing a different location.

When I click on the 'help' key in the elements 12 program it wants to open it in Firefox2. Firefox doesn't work on my Macbook Pro Air. I use Safari. How do I get it to open?
Hmm, that is very strange. I agree with MichelB that it's probably best just to get the PDF, but you can try going to your username>library>preferences and deleting:

To see the library, click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in there it wouldn't be a bad idea to go to the Saved Application States folder and delete anything pertaining to PSE.
Repair permissions and see if that does it. -
When I open Safari with Macbook Pro my bookmark subfolders are hidden. How can I get them back?
I have set up number of subfolders in Safari but they have disappeared into thin air. I know they are still there because if I create a new bookmark it gives me these subfolders as an option to save to. How can I get my subfolders back. I am using a Macbook Pro
If you are using iCloud open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Safari, then reselect it.
Give iCloud a few minutes to sync the data. -
Can I sync SkyDrive on my PC with my MacBook Pro?

I hace a Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion OS.... I need to print from time to time but don't have a new printer to go with my new macbook. Would a 3115CN work with it or no? If so, how can I set it up? Setting up a printer on a mac is a bit different from doing so on a windows machine and I am new to the macworld.
All help would be greatly appreciated.Yes. I'm running this printer from 10.6 through 10.9 and it's worked fine with all versions. Dell released updated drivers a while ago that make it much easier to administer this printer.

I am switching over to apple from a PC platform and I have tried to use migration assistant to transfer the stuff on my PC to my macbook pro. When i tried the first time the two went to sleep due the long time required to transfer 13 GB of data and the transfer failed. I tried to transfer again only opting for some of the data but when I did it created a second user account . I tried again and now I have transferred most of the data but I have it in three user accounts. Not what I wanted to do. Is there an easy fix for this or do Ineed to start from scratch ?
Open the Users folder on the internal drive, drag all of the other home folders to the desktop, and then move the files inside to the desired locations.

iTunes has to contact Apple during the sync process, but iTunes can only sync the phone, if you can launch iTunes, which seems not to be the case, as "...the required software is not installed.."

Why does my screen get cropped when using my 30" Dell 3008 WFP with my MacBook Pro 15" Retina?
I'm using a standard HDMI to HDMI connection and it's cropping my screen down (on the dell monitor) by roughly 10 percent or so. It cuts off the whole top File/Command bar as well as the little icons at the bottom...

Shootist, whenever I hit the option key down the only change is the "Gather Windows" tab at the bottom right corner of the window changes to "Detect Displays", but neither of them seem to do anything when I click on it... so frustrating.
Also, I have yet to find a "Extended Desktop" option that I hear about on these forums. Still, whenever I deselect the Mirror option, it does produce an extended desktop (even if that expression is curiously never used on my comp) however when i try to change its settings it won't let me go past 1920 by 1200 even though the monitor is supposed to go up to 2560 by 1600 I believe... -
