When i try to burn a CD with Itunes i get the Disc burner or software not found message. How do i fix this?

When I try to open a file with TextEdit, I get the spinning beachball and the file takes almost a minute to open.

When I try to open a file with TextEdit, I get the spinning beachball and the file takes almost a minute to open. When I just start TextEdit everything is fine. Also when I log on with another account TextEdit works like a charm, even when opening an existing file.
What I have done so far:
checked permissions in Disk Utility
validated all fonts
deleted all canon printer drivers
deleted all preferences
Nothing has helped. Mail shows the same behavior as TextEdit. What else can I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're continuing to receive the error where you cannot connect to the iTunes Store, I'd like you to please follow the directions outlined below.
Troubleshoot issues in Windows
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store for more than a day (and other customers on our discussion boards aren't experiencing similar issues) a software or Internet service provider (ISP) configuration issue may be blocking your access to the iTunes Store. Find out which ports and servers need to be allowed for iTunes Store access.
Update iTunes to the latest version.
If iTunes Store appears empty and only displays the message iTunes Store, follow these steps.
Try the steps to troubleshoot iTunes Store connectivity in Windows.
As with all firewalls not manufactured by Apple, you may need to configure Windows Firewall to allow iTunes to access the iTunes Store. Follow these steps for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
Try disabling any proxies built-in to Windows. You should avoid proxies because they can cause issues.
If you're receiving a specific error message, follow these steps.
If the issue still persists, contact your Internet service provider and confirm that these ports and serversare enabled over your network.
Note: The hosts file may be blocking the iTunes Store.
Microsoft's article How do I reset the hosts file back to the default? has instructions and a FixIt to have Windows try to reset the hosts defaults for you.
Note: Some workplaces may put internal resources in the hosts file and may block iTunes Store. The FixIt doesn't work for Windows 8.
To create a copy of your hosts file and replace it with an empty hosts file, follow the instructions below:
You can find the hosts file at: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC.
Select the hosts file. There should now be a duplicate of the hosts file named "Copy of hosts" (Windows XP) or "hosts-copy" (Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8).
Drag the original hosts file to your desktop.
Right-click the duplicate file and choose Open. You may be prompted to choose the program you want to use to open this file. Double-click Notepad.
When Notepad opens, choose Edit > Select All.
Choose Edit > Delete.
Choose File > Save.
Close Notepad.
Right-click the duplicate file, and choose Rename.
Type "hosts" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.
Restart your computer and try connecting to the iTunes Store.
If you still can't connect to the iTunes Store, your security software or firewall may be blocking the ability of iTunes to communicate with the Internet. Learn how to resolve security software issues.

Sorry but that's the very driver that I think caused my problem and I'm assuming Elstel's. Yes it's an Epson Stylus Photo R3000. From the posts I've read the new driver is faulty. Driver V9 seems to work temporarily with my Mountain Lion 10.8.4. It worked perfectly when I set up my new printer and installed the provided software. When I started the day to day suddenly it wouldn't print and I had the rastertoescpll error. My assumption is that my "automatic updates" setting updated the software over night and then it woudn't work. I then tried your link from a previous post and installed that upgrade. No change. I've only been able to print this afternoon by re-installing the printer with the provided disk. If pixies come during the night and I wake up tomorrow morning with that error message again, after screaming, I will then use my TM to go back to where it worked! Very confused. I was really hoping that Yuengdog1983's solution for the others would have helped me but as I said I've always had my computer named.

Which supply computers & basic instruction only 2 techs, told reach out to Linux forms as very old monitor big in small bacholar apt works, IBM e74 13 pins on cord going to computer computer has 15 holes as do flatron wide LG & flatron w9345 i have 37" RCA with 15 pin holes & 15 pin cord both ends but don,t want mess up my TV .Any one i know who is computer savvy don't know Linux or want to try I have Zorina Linux & Linux puppy 5.25. Computer has windows xp professional sticker on it. that is about it. Any help u can suggest would rally great if there is a fix. I like the system it is good for me, as it challenges me. Since it seems App related, I'm not sure what to offer you. I guess the only suggestion I have is for you to reboot your iPad and then try again. To reboot, hold the power and home buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds (keep holding past the swipe to shut down bar if it appears) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart. You won't lose any settings or data, so it's worth a shot.

I'm fairly new to this, but I think it has to do with the way you have the drop downs named. Did you copy one then keep pasting it in each field? If so, that is the problem. You should rename each one with a different number: Dropdown1, Dropdown2, etc. I think that might solve the issue.

Firefox has always opened with an extra tab that says "server not found." How can I fix this?

Several years ago, I downloaded Firefox for the first time on my Xp machine. The browser opens to the home page, but up in the tab area, there is always, and I mean through EVERY version and upgrade since that first one, including the most recent version 4, there is a second tab just to the right of the home page tab that says, "server not found." Now, since the home page loaded, it is obvious to me that the server WAS indeed "found." what I don't understand is why this second tab is there. Any ideas? I have read through the FAQ about not finding the server, and nothing there is relevant to this, as far as I can see.
