WHen I try to open Firefox a menu box comes up asking me what I would like to use to open it with. Also when I try to use add/remove programs in the control panel or even try to open security it tells me the same thing about lost of missing files.

Firefox is asking me what program I want to use to open firefox. It has never done this before.

Several days ago an XP internet Security 2012 invaded my computer. It would not let me do anything except sign up for a $60 program. It did allow me to send a message to its support stall. But of course I could not get to my email to read their answer. Yesterday I went to safe mode Firefox and that allowed me to get to my email. The message from XP internet security apologized and suggested that I set the date on my computer 6 days ahead and that would remove their program. So I did and their program is gone. But now whenever I want to use firefox it asks me what program I want to use, I select Firefox and the site opens. Also I can not change to date back to normal. When I go to the control panel and click on date and time, it says application not found and does the same thing for most everything else in the control panel.

hello RAWHIDE57, this can happen usually after you perform a windows system restore. in order to address the issue, please run a clean reinstall:
#download the full firefox setup file from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
#uninstall firefox on the machine through the system control panel
#manually delete all remaining files in the firefox program folder, which usually resides in ''C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\''

When I try to "save" a video no windoe comes up asking me where to assign the video. It says it is downloading but where does it go???

I have gif animated images that are not showing up in my web page when I am view in Firefox. The images are fine in IE. I would like to tell all of our clients to use FireFox but with this issue I can't recommend firefox. Please let me know what I can do.

I am using a word document, converting to html and I am not seeing my animated image.No problem in IE 9 and I wouldn't think it would be a problem in Firefox.

Am working on a webpage with some animated gifs in it. Everything works fine when it is loaded up, the images display and animate continuously. But these gifs may be updated on the server. I have some javascript that checks if the gifs have been updated by checking the modified meta data. If it has that image is reloaded. this works fine and the new image is brought up but that animation is never started. it just sits there on the first frame.

Slightly off-topic, your Internet Explorer seems to be quite a bit out of date (IE 6, where current version is IE 8), so I would strongly recommend that you try to run Windows Update to get your system updated. If this is a company system (like a Terminal Server thin client machine), this may not be possible, and your system administrator will most likely have to help you.

Sorry, it's a little confusing. You get the "embarrassed" screen if Firefox crashed and isn't able to automatically restore your previous session.
If you unselect the old windows and tabs, Firefox should start up with your home page after that.
Or does it happen every time you quit Firefox and start it again?
What page do you want as your home page? You can check the setting in the Preferences dialog. These articles describe the steps:
