Is the movie still buffering? you may have a slow internet connection. Music files require far less bandwidth than movies.

When you start Messages fro the first time you are asked for an Apple ID
When this is verified and entered it appears in Messages Menu > Preference > Accounts and is Enabled.
The App should have also picked on on those iChat Accounst you had before.
These should be Enabled if they were when you last used iChat.
Exactly which "Accounts" are logged in can be seen in Message Menu > Accounts and will include the iMessage "Account" and Bonjour.
In the Window menu you will see CMD +0 for the Messages window and CMD+1 for the "Buddies" window which is a combined list at this stage.
Go to the Preferences > General Section and Untick the "Collect all accounts into one list".
This will give you separate iChat type Buddy lists.
You can check if that account/Buddy list is set to Invisible or if in the Preferences > Accounts > Security you have settings that will block some people from seeing you as On line.
You are saying Buddies can see you as On Line which implies they are still sending to your AIM based Names (@Mac.com is a valid AIM Screen Name)
I am not sure from your post if you are trying to iMessage their email IDs thinking they are Apple IDs and that they are using Messages as well.
There is no Buddy list for iMessages side
No-one can tell you are "On Line" until they have your details in the "To" spot in Messages with the correct iMessaged contact info (iPhone Number or Apple ID)
Obviously an Apple ID can be an email or look like one.
In some cases they are also valid AIM Screen Names as well.
In the case or the @mac.com name you may have linked this Apple ID to iMessages as well.

OK, we've got it!
What is happening is that when you use Microsoft's save as PDF in Word, the font isn't embedded even though the font is tagged to allow embedding. Furthermore, Microsoft doesn't properly put the font name into the PDF file such that Acrobat or Reader can readily find the font installed on your system such that the text can be properly displayed and/or printed. Acrobat and Reader attempt to display and/or print the text using a “substitution font” and of course, as they say, YMMV (“your mileage may vary”)!
I personally submitted the report of this problem (both the embedding and the font name problem) to Microsoft. They acknowledge the bug, tried a fix and provided me a build with it, but it wasn't right. Maybe they will ultimately fix it, maybe they won't. We don't know yet. We do know that if it is fixed, it will be fixed only for Office 2013 (problem occurs with all Office applications since they use the same PDF generation code) and thus such a fix won't help you.
Adobe Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro both provide an Adobe PDFMaker plug-in to Office applications (including full support for Office 2010) that adds an Acrobat Toolbar as well as a Save as Adobe PDF menu item. The resultant PDF file fully supports embedding of OpenType CFF, TrueType, and Type 1 fonts and in many other ways produces much superior PDF with a full range of PDF generation options not available with the Microsoft PDF. (Note that beginning with Office 2013, Microsoft does not support Type 1 fonts in Office documents at all, even for existing documents!) The Acrobat Office functions are widely used and respected in the end user community and whatever “issues” there are (all software has “issues” of some type - it is a matter of how many and how severe), you should be in much better shape for PDF production that with what you currently are using.
Good luck and let us know if this resolves your problems. (Note that you can download and install a free fully-functional 30 trial of Acrobat Pro to assure that it meets your needs! You can then buy a license and activate what you already have installed.)

Firefox thinks I am in Indonesia, how do I reset this to in US (all sites I access from firefox default to Indonesian, e.g. google and yahoo). I have cleared the cache. This does not happen on explorer on same laptop.

I am based in the US. Since a business trip to Jakarta, everything I bring up in Firefox defaults to Indonesia, e.g. yahoo comes up in Indonesian id.yahoo.com, google displays as google.co.id.
I have:
- cleared the firefox cache.
- searched settings for a country or language setting
- searched firefox help archive
This does not happen on explorer on the same pc.

I believe that our “Werbung problem” adds an additional second hyperlink to the pop-up window. This second link is activated whenever you trigger a saved hyperlink to a Mail.com site.
I had the same problem and eliminated it by deleting all bookmarks, hyperlinks and automatic links that take firefox to a mail.com address. So I just deleted all bookmarks I had saved for mail.com. I also changed my home page link because it also went to my email at mail.com. I then did a warm boot, opened firefox and re-saved my bookmarks and homepage to the desired addresses. Good luck.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

In iGoogle with firefox 4 I am unable to get the tabs to change down the left hand side or get any response to selections made to items like calender or weather this does not happen in Explorer 9.

After loading FireFox 4 all worked OK for a while. Now when trying to change the tabs on left hand side (Home etc) or change selections on the apps (Weather or Calender) nothing happens. I am running iGoogle with FireFox 4 but this does not happen when trying the same thing with Explorer 9.

Having the same problem, but not only can't change tabs, but cannot open links on the page. I thought that by reducing my iGoogle page to one tab, and putting what content I could into app tabs that would solve most of the problems. It did some. The problem appears to be caused by having the Cool Iris add-on attached to Firefox. I have removed Cool Iris and the problem has gone! I also note that there is now a 'fix' to the Cool iris add-on available for this specific problem

Navigation in Google search page is not working, this does not happen with other browsers or other search engines.

When using Google search I cannot navigate to pages other than the first page of search results. It does not seem to matter whether I use the page number or the next hyperlink, I cannot navigate away from search page 1. This does not happen when I use other search engines nor does it happen if I conduct the same search using a different browser. This ha only recently started occurring.

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs. 
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.
