When I upload photos from my Canon Rebel 1000D to iphoto the images are labelled JPEG, yet I shoot in RAW.How do I get iphoto 11 vers9.1.3 to not convert the photos to jpeg. I seem to have tried and read so much but just can't figure it out. How do I get iphoto 11 vers9.1.3 to not convert the photos to jpeg. Or do a have to use a different system? I have Adobe Bridge. Or can I upload directly into photoshop?
Also how do you install dmg's properly I am having problems installing them?
I have a Mac OS X 13 inch Version 10.6.7

Do you have Aperture installed? I found your model on a compatibility list; however, there was a note that it requires Aperture 2 to be installed:

I may be wrong, but I interpret that info to mean you need Aperture 2 before iPhoto will work with RAW?

I have a macbook pro Version 8.1.2 and I am using Iphoto 09
I rebuilt library because many pics were black and now they are in one folder labeled "Recovered"

Do you have the original iPhoto Library (before you rebuilt it)?
If so, I suggest you rebuild it using iPhoto Library Manager, a program you can download. It does a better job of rebuilding. It also leaves your original intact and makes the rebuilt Library a new file (package).
If you don't have the original (say, from a backup), then you should probably first back up the library that you have before trying anything.
After making a backup of it, look along the left side, you will see Events and Photos. Is there anything in either of those areas?
If not, it sounds like all your photos were recovered and put in Recovered during the rebuild. iPhoto Library Manager might do a better job with this. In any case, if there are no photos in Events or in Photos, try selecting ~ 5 photos in Recovered and drag them to Photos. Do they then show up there with the correct dates? Do they also show up in Events after doing that? I am suggesting just a few photos before you try it with 20,000.
If the photos inside your "recovered" area are also in Photos, then don't do the above steps. I'm not sure I can help you if your 20,000 photos are in Photos but not Events. I'd try iPhoto Library Manager instead with its better rebuild.
If the 5 photos experiment works, then I would try it with ~ 200 photos at a time, going through your entire collection. You'll need to do this about 10 times if you really have 20,000 photos. Remember, don't do this if the "recovered" photos are already in "Photos."

Generally, in iTunes, all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist to keep things together. For older iPods each track from the same album should have the same artist, or be marked as a compilation where appropriate. For iOS devices you may need to go to Settings > Music > Group By Album Artist > On.

Files you save don't disappear, even if you no longer have the software that created them. They're right where you saved them.

Can't help you with the sync problem but the splitting of events was supposedly fixed with the iPhoto 9.1.3 updater.

If you don't have an Installer disk then you can't install without a purchase. Do you have the grey SystemRestore disks that came with your Mac? It's on that. No, iPhoto is not part of Lion.

The first time I logged in to a site which has now become a frequently used one, I skipped past the prompt where it asks if you want it to save the password so as not to have to type it in each time. Hate to ask the obvious, but do you have your Canon 70D set to save both RAW+jpg?
On your computer do you have 2 files for each photo, but the file size is much larger for one of them?
Are you using ANY software to download the pics from your camera to your hard drive. If so, check the setting to make sure they aren't converting Raw CR2 to jpgs automatically.
The best procedure for transferring is to buy a card reader for a few bucks.
Remove your memory card from the camera and insert into card reader.
Copy or Drag your files to your hard drive.
After this is done. remove the card and replace into your camera
The reason for this last procedure is to make sure you don't accidently open the image from the card reader and then attempt to save it not realizing the computer is trying to save it back to the card.

That password should be the one you used on the system *before* you do the upgrade.
If you got the computer used from someone else, you need to get in touch with them and get the password.

what version of iPhoto? Is OS X 10.8 as you state correct for the OS? Has it ever worked? What has changed since it worked? Will Image Capture ( in your applications folder) import the photos? How are you importing - USB to the camera? USB card reader? built in card reader?
Any other clues that would help a total stranger who can not see you or your computer assist you?
