I went update an app that I had, and it asked me to put in a password for a account I was not currently signed into, and it did not take the password. Why would it do this?
It would indicate that the app was purchased with a different ID than you were expecting. Apps are always aand forever linked to the AppleID that originally purchased them.

i try to updated my apps and download free apps but my Apple id keep asking for payment, the exacly massage is " before you can make purchases you must tap OK , then verify your payment. before i used to have NONE but after i buy some Apps i put my debite card number. after that i want to change to be none again but None is not show... now i cannot update anything or even download free apps
I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option? -
i get an update notice for Imovie but when I try to update it the APP Store will not accept my Apple ID password. I have no problem updating other apps and downlaoding apps and music. I have the Mavericks OS but the problem is a carryover from Mountain Lion.
Hello Sriggers,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are attempting to update some applications on your iPhone but the payment method was declined. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the information in the attached article to help resolve the situation.

HOw do I erase ID for previous owner. I was asked for that PW when updating a game?
The content on your device that was downloaded with previous owners I'd will be forever associated with that I'd.
It would be best for you to restore the device to factory settings and make it your own.
How to restore

What can I do? Why is my I phone not letting me write reviews on apps I downloaded?
I have been having this issue for months, now--at least 3-4. I updated my credit card info on my account, thinking maybe that would do it, but NOPE--can't review a single thing I've ever purchased in iTunes--not from my iPhone 5, PC or iPad 2. Ridiculous, at this point...just remove the ability to review at all, if this is how it's going to be. SO frustrating.

My friends email pops up when I go to update my apps - HELP!!!
Hi guys,
I backed up my iPhone 5 a few weeks ago but noticed about 20 random apps and a heap of songs appeared on my iPhone afterwards. Then when I went to update my apps in the App centre on my iPhone a week later my friends email popped up to verify. So somehow my phone has synced to his! When I go to Settings>iTunes & App Store> it still has my email there and not his so why is it still popping up with his email? So frustrating.
I have searched everywhere for a solution but obviously without luck.
Please help.
Thank you in advance.
KrisHi there, this problem has probably been resolved now, but I must say that I came across these posts today as I had the same problem, my old e mail kept popping up, but all sorted now! Old Apps are not tied to the old Apple ID, honestly!
Rudegar is so right, all you do is go the SETTINGS/iTunes & App Store, then select `Apple ID` `Sign Out` then you get the chance to enter your new ID, and it worked a treat!
Good luck with anyone else with this problem, as I spent so long on this, really stupid!
PS you`ll need to again verify bank details -

I entered my debit card for a app latter when I went to update all it asked password as usual then said sign in required took me to page sayin my card has been declined use alternate I don't have alternate but now it won't let me download free apps niether
Do you have enough funds in your bank account?
otherwise iTunes sometimes black lists card if there are too many fradulent purchases
Reason why they might black list a card is possibly you call in for alot of fradulent purchases
One more reason can be because iTunes does actually limit the amount you can change payment methods
Call AppleCare Phone support and have your call directed to iTunes Store

On my iPhone I see my friend's Apple ID when I want to update my Apps and can't seem to login with my own. What's wrong? How can I get rid off my friend's ID and login with my own when I want to update or download apps? I went to Itunes Store in Setting and checked if my ID was still there, and it is so I have no idea what's wrong.

Just used her MacBook to unlock my iPhone as I was away from home. So she backuped my phone and restored it to allow the unlock to work. That's all.
I'm still not clear about what you mean about unlocking your phone. Normally, "unlocking" means entering the password if the phone is locked, which you should be able to do from the phone itself. If you want more help with this, you really need to take the time to furnish all the relevant details.
I have a MacBook Pro, and yes when I connect my iPhone on it it shows up in the devices list.
When you do that & click on the iPhone in the list, then click on the "Apps" tab at the top, do you see the apps you can't update listed there? If you click on the "Store" menu item does it show near the bottom that you are logged in with your own Apple ID?
As wjosten said, it sounds like one way or another, the apps you cannot update were obtained using your friend's Apple ID. You need to delete them from your phone & try buying them again. If they were in fact paid for with your own Apple ID you won't have to pay again; otherwise you will. -
Tried to open a file I created in Numbers a while ago, which I modified on 11/4/13, and got a message that I needed a newer version of Numbers. When I went to the Mac App Store it shows that the new version is already installed and there doesn't seem to be a way to reinstall it. When I checked "About Numbers" on my MacBook it shows "Numbers '09 version 2.3". Any suggestions as to how I can get the new version installed?
Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.

I have changed my ID, but when I go to update my apps my old ID is still there, I have verified my new ID and signed in using it but still showing on app update sign in which is stopping me from getting update, what do I need to do to get it to change?
Did you create a new account or did you update your existing account ? If you updated your existing account then logging out and back in on the iPad usually 'refreshes' the account on it. If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps.

I Have a new email address which I have entered into settings and it has been verified. I no longer have the old email address. When I try to update an app, it comes up with my old email address and asks for my password. It always comes back with a message that the password is incorrect. What do I do to fix this?
Hi Vivian Zollman,
Welcome to the Support Communities!
I'm not sure if you are referring to your Apple ID or just your email account in the Mail app. So, I've included all of the articles that may be relevant for you.
iOS: Setting up an email account
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4810
If you already have an email account set up and you want to modify its settings, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, tap the name of your account, and then your email address. Then tap any information you want to adjust.
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account

iCloud: View or change your iCloud payment information

How come someone elses Apple ID Shows up when I try to update my apps
How come someone elses Apple ID Shows up when I try to update my apps? It's Grey and won't let me change it. I've signed out and resigned in, but this very odd email address always shows up as my apple ID. Please help if you can, I just need to update some apps.
You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove may not be the one named in the update notice. For example, the App Store could prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app could be "Final Cut Pro." Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
3. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
4. At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
5. Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method. -
I have changed Internet providers and have finally managed to update my primary email details under the Apple ID manage your account area.
However my old email details are still showing up when I try to update my apps etc. Can anyone please tell me what else I have to do to change my Apple ID. It seemed that I had already successfully done this but obviously not. I have an iPad 2Did you change the ID in Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID? Tap the old ID and sign out and then sign in with the new one. If not running iOS 6 it will be Settings>Stores>Apple ID.
