When my most front window is a safari one and I use the shortcut key "Command N", it opens a new finder window and a new safari window at the same time. Why does it happen?

Open the General tab of the Safari preferences and correct the home page; the default page is this one. If it has become set to a folder on an FTP server or a local drive, that request will be sent to the Finder. (28252)

I have made pictures on high resolution with a Canon 100D camera, which means the pictures are 5-6 MB.
But when I edit them on my Ipad2 in Iphoto it decreases the size and resolution of the pictures to about 0.5MB

Are the photos raw photos or jpeg? When you edit raw photos in iPhoto on your iPad, the raw image will not be processed, only the embedded jpeg. That will reduce the resolution of the image considerably.
But when I edit them on my Ipad2 in Iphoto it decreases the size and resolution of the pictures to about 0.5MB
How do you save he edited version after editing? That will determine, if the image will be scaled down,

I had trouble upgrading my iPad2 toiOS 5.1.I have had it for about 1 year. I had never upgraded it. I tried a few times but I kept getting a message that I would loose everything on my iPad if I did. I bit the bullet andfigured that I would restore it from the back up on my laptop. Some of the backup files were corrupted. I was unable to retore my exchange email or my notes from the noted app.
Today, my iPad shut off for no reason and I couldn't get it to turn on again, even though the battery was 70% charged. I had to press the on button and home button to get it to come back on.

I'm not sure what problem you are experiancing but it would be well worth contacting apple.
If you have had it for less than one year it should be covered under warrenty

You restore from a backup that was created after the text was received but before it was deleted.
But if you literally deleted it right after it came in, then it's not recoverable. Have the other person resend the text.

I am on the monthly payment plan because nobody at BT has told me there is any alternative!
Each year there I have a long, in-depth conversation with the person who sets up the contract for the next year but the gist of the thing is 'I'm not going to be paying more than [x amount] per month, am I? Because I can't afford any more'' and each year the person says that no, in fact I should be paying less... and then without notice and even with the bill saying 'We will continue to take....' a totally different - and higher - sum disappears from my bank account.
Then I go through the painful process of writing to complain about this, get some sort of sum refunded and then the payments go through at the level they should, with me paying any additional (usually small) amounts for usage over the allowance. Until contract end when we start all over again...
Even if the amount they seem to randomly decide on is based on some sort of forecast, this should not be happening as I am doing what they instruct me to do on the bill to keep my payments the same.
So something is going wrong, on many levels.
At no point have I been offered the sort of 'monthly billing' described here; maybe there is some reason I am not allowed it. Unfortunately 'whole bill' direct debit payment is beyond me. I really need to know what I will be paying each month and I need BT to correctly take that amount, as agreed, each month, from the get-go.
It shouldn't be that hard really! Does anyone from BT read these forums? Can somebody take this on and finally get this straight, please?

Both headphones and speakers play aloud at the same time, why???

I have just purchased macbook pro... im in windows XP right now. I installed an mp3 player, Winamp, put my headphones on and the music comes through the headphones AND the speakers on the laptop at the same time. Why is this? I thought sound is muted on the computer once you plug the headphones in. Any ideas or suggestions is appreciated!! thanks

I originally posted in another posting, didn't realize this was posted twice. In case, you didn't realize you posted twice,I'll copy my reply in both messages.
The sound card on the macbook has a combined optical digital audio output/headphone out (minijack). So sound is being piped out both sound outputs in OSX and XP.
The difference comes in because XP and the windows sound drivers for that card, do not know how to handle dual digital audio outputs and instead of shutting down the internal digital speakers(on our Macbook)when say your headphones are plugged in, windows just leaves both digital outputs open.
To resolve this issue, contact Apple or the soundcard vendor to obtain a Windows XP driver that supports digital output on the dual-mode analog/digital capable sound card.
To work around this issue, use analog speakers or headphones.

Something went wrong in the iOS if you are getting the connect to iTunes screen. you will have to exactly that - connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes using the cable. You will need to restore the iPad now.
Read this all the way to the end before you begin. Make sure that you read about recovery mode at the end of the article.

When i try to open two streams each on one monitor ( in fullscreen), the one opened second just overlaps the existing one.

Only one window can be in fullscreen at a time. Is it possible to keep the second on in a tab of the same fullscreen window?

Fast/most efficient way to cut out of multiple tracks at the same time

I try to select by dragging around but it lights up the entire length of each tract- I can use the scissors to manually cut the tracks but there has to be a better way...any ideas?

I don't know if this is most efficient but here's my "home grown" way:
I place the section locator bars located at the top in the area I want to cut. You can fine tune this by zooming in close. I then right click on the track and use the split at locator function. I then can cut, drag or copy just that new, separate area. If you want to cut multiple tracks you can leave the locators where they are and repeat on all the tracks you want to split. I haven't tried selecting multiple tracks, and I'm not at my computer to try it right now.
Maybe there's a quicker way but that has worked for me!

Air Extreme + 2 Air Express = I can't play 2 stereos at the same time - why

I just got a new airport extreme hoping the the "n" would give me better connectivity to 2 different stereos through 2 airport expresses. I had been using a netgear wireless router that is connected to an actiontec DSL modem. When I had the netgear wireless I could have both my stereo in the basement and in the family room playing iTunes. The only problem was when I turned on the microwave it would interfere with the signal.
So I bought the new Airport Extreme and set it up. After much trouble and 2hrs with apple support on the phone I got the basestation working and I configured both airport expresses to extend the range of my network and to play iTunes. Now if I select either the basement or the family room through iTunes either one plays fine. If I try and select both the music starts cutting out in both locations almost immediately. I have seen some references to issues people have had playing through 2 systems but can't find any reference to a sulution. The apple support guy gave up! I have tried different channels and am currently on 2. I also set the wireless to 11mps - both suggestions from apple support.

No - according to the Apple support you can both extend the network and play iTunes through express. I have tried configuiring my expresses both ways - I even tried one to extend the network and one just for iTunes. Still the same issue I can play on stereo but not both. I will say that my internet connection for my laptop is better and faster with the extend the network feature.

TS2446 iTunes will not let me sign in with my ID, it asks me to use another ID but I ONLY have one? This is the first time that this has happened and as far as I am aware there are no problems with my account.

Contact AppleCare at 800.694.7466, and ask for account security. You will need to answer some questions to verify your identity, AND you will need access to a computer to generate a temporary support pin.
